I think everyone has a landfill band they think is too good to be labelled such, but alas it's just our taste that has let us down.

Saw them at Y Not and there was a genuinely dangerous atmosphere as they rattled through their apparent "back catalogue" and the crowd were getting more frustrated after each track that it wasn't Chelsea Dagger. Band were getting bottled and threatened to leave if they didn't stop.

Surely if they wanted to stop the bottling they should have threatened to play more songs?

it's cool to shit on landfill because, well why not?  But there remain a lot of songs from that era that I still like to listen to.

Chelsea Dagger is not one of them. It's magnified by sports grounds playing it when points are scored.

My memory is a little hazy, but I swear at one point they threatened not to play Chelsea Dagger if they didn't stop.

Caesars are Swedish and they wanted only Brits in there... Generator by The Holloways and Naive by The Kooks are the obvious ones missing in my opinion.

Are they Swedish? Didn't know that. Good knowledge!

Someone is going to click on the Headliner thread seeing that it has gone hot, see talk of Fratellis and Futureheads and have a heart attack...

Paging @fatyeti24

He'll be grateful for AM, Muse and Florence within the hour.

I did actually have a dream last year that Glastonbury had a headline set where all the big indie landfill bands came on stage to do their one song.

Ha!

Preston from the Ordinary Boys crept up on First Dates recently - Mrs Yeti likes to watch it.  He's still an absolute tool.  He got turned down for a second date.

That's one song between the lot of them, right.

The best song of that entire decade was The Rat by The Walkmen.

Correct.

I was expecting to see that on the list and go on a rant about how The Walkmen were not in that category. Dunno if Vice are too dumb to realise how great it is or smart enough to know it isn't "landfill" :)

Walkmen were from New York, which instantly makes them too cool for this sort of thing in the eyes of Vice.

    • Audrey Hobert getting a lot of traction lately and new single on Friday. Wonder if she could be round next summer.
    • Think Pulp are optimistic, not in terms of size but just that they've been on the road (albeit not intensively) for 3 years in a row and it feels like EotR is the deliberate end of the cycle.   Would be fairly surprised if they're active next year.
    • 👍 plus they brought their own screens 📺 either side of the stage.
    • Production was the only thing that could even explain why she would back out. Like they had sorted out the financials and she was fine with it and then a production meeting happened. It all fell apart. It was very clear that she was not going to compromise her show one bit and then that show in Brazil pretty much confirmed it. There was like one element they couldnt pull off outdoors, but it was negligible since the rest was a carbon copy of the tour she had been on. Glasto is not willing to make any bold changes on the Pyramid stage so then theyre kinda stuck in terms of what some acts want/demand. I think the easiest solution to that is putting her on Friday. You deal with the changes for one night and then re configure for the rest of the weekend. In 24 they were fortunate to have had Dua and Coldplay on Fri and Sat so they could both use the b stage. But I think it was removed for Sunday?     I saw a random rag article earlier that said Olivia Dean turned down Glasto BECAUSE her ex ( not even confirmed dating ) Harry Styles was playing the fest. hahahaha
