Flares / Smoke Bombs

I lean toward the latter. I think they are a danger, though fortunately I've not heard of any serious incidents, but drunk people + explosives are not a good combo.

I also think they add very little. You're already at a festival watching amazing bands with great stage shows, so a little extra smoke is really not going to make much of a difference is it? And it will never be any way near as good as Coldplay's bracelets, will it?

I'm firmly in the pain in the arse corner. Ok, they make striking photo but do nothing to improve the atmosphere of a gig. I was stood near one at the cure, it bloody stank. Girl near me had to move because it set her ashma off.

I'm in two minds. A friend stood behind me had one at the Arctics in Finsbury Park years ago and my neck was showered with embers which hurt a damn lot.

But I fucking love seeing them. It's not The Chems on the Other Stage without the flares.

The first from a safe distance looks superb ... from a few years back ..... The second in a busy bar last year caused all kinds of issues the fire marshal picked it up and rushed it outside not before the music was killed and the place filling with smoke ... what a selfish rick was my thoughts at the time !!

I too like them but I would never buy them. They just look like too much hard work to control and I don’t think I could handle being the fella who’s causing everyone to have stage 3 lung cancer with a smoke bomb or 2nd degree burns with a flare. Can you buy them at the festival or do people take them with them?
