Airlie
After trying and failing to watch a couple of really busy acts at the park stage this year, surely its time to get screens at either side of the stage? Or would that ruin it?
Troop Dogg
It definitely needs a bigger PA system
stuartbert two hats
It would ruin it. For most acts, you can see the band fine without screens and they definitely draw the eye. The lack of screens gives The Park a real sense of immediacy and connection with the musicians on the stage. Screens are fine at Other, Pyramid, JPT and W Holts where the arenas are so large, but I would be gutted if they were to appear at The Park. 1
stuartbert two hats
And whilst I know we're generally agreeing that there is a place at Glastonbury for things other than watching musicians create music from instruments from scratch in front of your eyes - having no screens means that there's currently no better place for that experience at the festival than The Park. DoubleB
I think that adding screens would ruin the intimacy of the area (my favourite btw). Maybe keeping it to lesser known/less popular artists is what is needed rather than expanding.
maelzoid
I think its only an issue with the secret sets, but even then it was not really a problem with Elbow in '17. Putting the Killers '17 set on in the JP was a smart move as they would have overwhelmed the Park. I say no screens.
serendipitous
I think the views are generally not bad due to the lay of the land, but they desperately need to sort out the sound behind/next to the sound desk, it just dies completely. Gave up on Idles as it was absolutely impossible to hear.
Rose-Colored Boy
No no no no no. Rather they just banned ‘big crowd’ acts from playing on it than ruined The Park’s whole vibe with horrid screens.

mcshed
Sound bleed from Stonebridge (in the past also the Rabbit Hole but with the move I assume Bimble Inn was getting in on the action as well I don't know I wasn't stuck at the back for anything this year) is the main issue when it's busy rather than sightlines so yeah I don't think there's a big need for screens. Mr. B
The new (/relocated) surround made it look slightly less intimate. Agree that screens would really change the vibe
gigpusher
Can I just say I loved the lights and artwork around it this year. It's always been my favourite stage but just looked glorious this year as well. I think with the exception of a few acts it's easy enough to get to a spot where you can see and as a shortie being able to see is a perpetual struggle for me.

I think you've misremembered that as one of the reasons we left that early is because we couldn't see anything.

lukethekid
Pulp on their in 2011 was madness. Could see absolutely nothing despite being 6ft 5’. Radiohead the day before we were much closer to the barrier so had a great view.
bexj
No, keep the intimacy, its perfect as it is.
Havors
Well My idea would be a screen (singular) behind the sound stage thing for people on the hill to see. Some extra speakers in that direction too. Keeps the stage and immediate atmosphere as it is but means more people can actually see and enjoy... like the Foals on the saturday it was absolutely rammed and one you go over that little brow its hardly worth being there. It is also one of the best stages in the whole festival, very vibey as Ezra from Vampire weekend said. I just hope they keep this secret set thing going permanently as for my taste 95% of whats on the Park stage is a bit shit. Splits the crowd up around the festival too which is desperately needed at times. Edited July 11, 2019 by Havors
