Does this make IDLES more or less likely considering their supposed to be playing Oxford on the Wednesday before. I would also expect\like Viagra Boys, Slowthai and Jamie xx, but the latter doesn't really fit anywhere

It’s just boring though, isn’t it? I’m sure we will get someone wondering whether the Radio 1 Stage is still going to be a thing within the next couple of pages.

Do you think the two main stages thing is a one-off or it's here to stay??

I assume that rules out Slowthai I would think? Given he’s also playing All Points East that weekend. Only hypothetical could be him plying a secret set at just Reading or Leeds.

Agree that I’d like Jamie XX. I genuinely think he’d be a class secret set booking.

I think less likely. It'd be a week long run of consecutive shows:

Bristol, Bristol, Oxford, London, then R&L and Down The Rabbit Hole on the weekend.

I wouldn't rule it out of course. They're hitting up Wide Awake and then Bristol on the same day. I'm sure they can't wait to get back. After a year out of performing anything is possible.

This thread just goes in circles. That same question was asked like two weeks ago. Scroll back and find the responses.

Ngl we are 328 pages into this thread I don’t think we can expect people who’ve never been here before or don’t read every post to keep up to date on whats been spoken about and what hasn’t so far

These are smaller festivals councelling and the only big one to cancel so far is Glastonbury but that was before reading announced it was going ahead, I think latitude will be key I feel If that goes ahead then reading will to, there are also a lot of bands doing shows around that time so again will be interesting, my theory on everything Is lots of people are getting vaccinated every day and according to boris we won't have to social distance in June so I fully believe that reading will be going ahead (sorry for long post haha)

Latitude is a step up but I'm not optimistic. It's only 35k, you've got to get just under 3 times that in by 5 weeks later and they need to know much earlier than middle July. 3 weeks before that event is a test pilot event for 21k and 1 week before it is potential for a bigger crowd that they aren't sure on yet.

I believe the times have also reported that the next few days are the point for where some events will have to say no and be canned. It's only 4/5 months away from later summer events now. They need to know insurance wise before they spend on promoting. Great North Run for eg is 57k people run in middle of September and that's the exact kind of event that would say if Reading has a chance as people will be in and around each other much the same.

And that means they don’t care about making money anymore?😂

If that's what you choose to take from that then fill your boots.

I'm just being optimistic and hopeful that it will go ahead as I've missed concerts and festivals loads especially as I usually do a festival every year 2 years without one won't be great, I'm sure festival republic have time to make plans as they will definitely be wanting reading to go ahead this year

They have time but they can't just spend money promoting, marketing etc for nothing.

No that is true but they were the first festival to announce that reading and leeds is happening this summer so this is why I think they have something planned to make sure it happens

But they announced it off the back of the government's announcement. Nothing more.

Cannot think of a band I’ve genuinely hated as much on a first listen than this lot. Awful.

Each to their own though I’m sure there’ll be a few excited to see em haha

Just listened to a minute and quite like it!  Each to their own indeed!

I really don't understand why your being so negative it's almost like you don't want reading and leeds to happen it's almost like you are on this forum just to try and give no one anything to look forward to

Can people please realise with the likes of Slowthai and Idles especially that they won't be at Reading now.

It's sold out and Idles play their own dates enough to sub the second stage. It's sold out so it's easy to book them for the following year.

Yes, I’ve finally accepted that now.

Just been clinging to hope as it’s hard to take that we’ve gone from the likes of RATM and Idles to Post Malone and CATB.Haha.

You said Reading will survive as if that meant the area wouldn’t do everything possible to get the festival to go ahead? If you take a compelling argument from that then fill your boots mate😂

    • Considering how popular of a booking Scooter have been I think they'd go down well
    • I mean I think unless you are camped in a particular bit which apparently you just get no sleep i feel it would be better setup to travel in from a hotel each day and back. Ah there is so many downfalls to it for me, I think the Download main stage area is so much better and that's coming from me. If you're camped in green to go round all the time and out for lidl and even water is stupid!
    • Did you camp or go for a hotel? I looked into it briefly and seems easy enough to get back to Nuremberg.
