I'll get it in the flag thread if it kills me!

“Hey guys I’ve got an idea for a massive flag that says ‘Foals are one of the TBCs’ - what do you reckon? Good idea to take it?”

Same!

And it would have been four with Kingston if that were earlier in June.

Yeah that was a shame, holding out hope they start the 'Part 2' tour this year and we could hit 4/5!

Do you reckon they'll ask The Question

Why did they shift RadMac into an awful slot to accommodate Mary-Anne Hobbs?

TBH, that slot has been cursed since Gideon Coe left it (see George Lamb and Vic Mcglynn).

She starts at 10.30am FYI:

"Yannis joins Mary Anne to discuss the music that has influenced and inspired him."

Well if it does happen I hope the beans are thoroughly spilled well in advance like killers last time so I can get right up the front.

If they were the park TBA it would make things so much easier... the tent makes things so much more difficult

Not so sure about that one. John Peel holds a lot of people but it’s enclosed, yeah. Park can host more people but as soon as you’re beyond the brow of the hill you can’t see anything and down one side you can only hear Stonebridge. I’d certainly choose JP, especially when it’s fucking tipping it down oioii.

The Park is a pretty crap place to watch a band isn't it? It's kind of decent for sitting around and chilling in, but I can't imagine watching a headliner there (closest I've done was MGMT subbing - and I couldn't see a thing).

When the sun is out and it’s early enough to take your boots off and enjoy some time relaxing, it’s unbeatable. I feel like the early evening brings a lot of folk who’ve maybe just started stirring from the night before and go there to chat and eat nachos and it gets hard to enjoy a set.

It was fine for the Furries when they headlined.

The trick with the Park is that the middle of the crowd is always more densely packed than the very front. If you can work your way through the first difficult part of the crowd and get onto the downward slope, you have more than enough space and one of the best atmospheres at Glasto.

John Grant into Mogwai remains one of the best sub and headliner combos I've seen and with minimal effort we were right at the very front.

Depends where you are in the crowd... The Flaming Lips headlining in 2017 was one of the weekend highlights for me!

So the best atmosphere is at the front, like every other stage. Almost all the people who complained about radiohead in '17 were miles back as well.

We were fairly far back for elbow in 2017 and luckily still had a great view and thought sound was decent enough, wish they’d do more to show the people on the hill like speakers that way or a screen

Only lateish set I've seen there was Savages subbing in 2016. We got into where the hill slopes toward the stage and it was great, almost like it wasn't a festival at all, sun had gone and the lights were proper moody... such a great set.

    • Tonight was a disgrace. There wasn't *that* much rain, and it wasn’t *that* windy. A festival of this size should be able to withstand some adverse weather without it bringing the whole circus to a standstill. And if it is true that part of a speaker on the Revolut stage fell…   As for the communication - announcing Massive Attack were playing at 12:30 and then nothing for over an hour while people waited in the rain. It’s laughable it really is.   If I said I’ll never come back again I’d be lying. The shambles of Barcelona 2022 and the disgrace of Madrid 2023 didn’t stop me, so this probably won’t either.   This festival gets so much wrong, but it is always saved by having such killer line-ups. It’s just a shame it treats the fans/customers/consumers like animals. Compare it to somewhere like Glastonbury and it’s worlds apart.
    • Yeah, I admit that a small part of me felt relieved when they announced that MA are canceled.. But on the positive side- got to see Florence Road afterall, and they were great
    • Glad I could take the €3 bus to Playa Catalunya! Hope y'all warm and dry up.
