New Order just had Ally Pally as their only UK show of 2018 so they'd be a decent booking - perhaps Doves to support?

Feel like they fit the vibe of this festival nicely and, unlike the other 4 headliners so far, haven't just come off the back of an extensive tour.

Any chance the BMTH Support is Shikari rather than Architects, dont think it'll be YMAS with how much they're banging on about Reading and Leeds they'd have mentioned APE by now. Thought Jordan specified English but he didn't actually, just said a 'particularly big rock band' could be anyone from that description.

No London date for Suede on their April tour plus the Primavera date make think they will be here somewhere. I hope so. New Order, Suede, Doves - I would have some of that.

My friend has been told by someone in the "know" that Blur playing Parklife in full is one of the dates.

So ridiculous it might just be true?

As well as the main reason to think it's nonsense, the Good, the Bad and the Queen are touring around the time of APE.

if Blur were doing Parklife in full, why would they do it at a (comparatively) piddly festival when they could earn far more?

Doubt Blur are playing, but Gorillaz played at Dreamland Margate like 2 years ago for no reason. Seems like solid enough evidence for me?

It is/was a festival site, and they held their festival there. They weren’t just playing the waltzers.

APE is a decent-sized festival and they could headline. 

That isn't the issue.

The issue is that to play Parklife is to announce to the world that you are no longer relevant and are having to rely on old albums to drum up interest. An old album that now sounds exceptionally dated.

Why would they play APE when they can easily do Hyde Park, as proven like... three times?

There is some fluidity in all of this. Bands don't simply play the biggest possible venue every time they play. Radiohead played the Roundhouse two years back when they could have sold out the O2 (and had done before).

There are many reasons why Blur won't perform Parklife at APE next year:

• Albarn's busy elsewhere that time with TGTBTQ
• Coxon's got a new solo album due in 2019
• Alex has got cheese to make
• Blur don't need to chase the "album anniversary dollar" - they have too many tunes across their back catalogue to worry about that
• The already play all the best bits of Parklife in their current sets, who is clamouring to hear Lot 105?
• They don't seem the types to cash in for a one off gig, again, they don't need to. they seem to come back on their own terms.

I'm stuck for who could be left but I'm thinking it is someone big, possibly linked to other annoucements (maybe coachella), if it was someone big they could throw a curveball and do both saturday nights to adress capacity issues. 

I basically just hope it's the strokes but feel that's unlikely.

Agree with this, but Blur do seem to have a special affinity with Hyde Park, they've done it three times in under a decade. If they were to announce an outdoor show in London it's hard to imagine them playing anywhere else.

Rumours that Strokes have recorded an album in secret with Rick Rubin, if so I imagine a tour may be Album related... They are also a shambles and so anything or nothing is possible
