I still hope we're wrong on The National and they're headlining Other. Fully onboard on the missing Saturday sub idea although I wouldn't care for Gaga.

The national cant headline other or sub the Pyramid. As good as they are they're Just not big enough or known enough amongst the herds.

They're fifth on the poster mate, anything other than Pyramid sub or Other headline would be rather surprising to me

Thing is regardless of how concrete Alt-J is for Other headliner, if this hasn't been leaked by anyone then The National could be it and her slotting in. I'd be very shocked if ML weren't topping Friday mind and tbf The National won't be then anyway.

Neil thought earlier there was a chance of an act slotting into Saturday sub, if it was Noel it would just be announced, no other festival has ever made a specific point of announcing him separate.

Nah I wouldn't read too much into the poster mate. 2 big stages + first 6 names on poster doesn't = head + sub for the 3 nights.  The national are afternoon / early evening filler, 3rd from top at best.

Honestly, (opening myself to abuse here once you read the rest) but I consider my music knowledge to be pretty good, and I'd never even heard of them before the poster!

In the 40 pages or so that I have not read, has bob dylan been mentioned + or ruled out?

Mentioned, think someone said something about EE posting something on instagram about him a while back

Download exclusive? And please no.

If it were Aerosmith, announced after Download finishes then I don't think the exclusivity thing would matter anymore.
Hope it's not though.

Well they are almost certainly subbing FF so clearly the Eavii think they're big enough.

No they're not, in a million years, and I bloody love the National!

Go look at 2016 head & subs for both stages. Even down to 3rd. The national aren't anywhere remotely as known as any of those acts.

For Pyramid : Muse, foals, Adele, tame impala, Coldplay, beck.

Other: Bastille, disclosure, new order, churches, LCD, PJ Harvey.

bands that played 3rd down included 1975, bring me horizon, catfish, Ellie Goulding, zz top & last shadow puppets. All generally radio 1/2 (6at a push) fodder popular amongst average music listeners. The national are great but are fairly obscure & unknown amongst the Pyramid / other type crowd.

Tbf they did announce a tour that was no larger than big academy today and the London dates are equivalent to an 02 Arena but Sheeran who played 3rd down last time also had a big! tour later on in the year.

Other headliner does make sense due to their niche following, Nick Cave for me is too but the latest announced gigs were arenas and Nick Cave's name is known, It think finding people who aren't fans who will know The National front man is slim.

Van Morrison?

He is free that weekend, playing Cornwall the weekend after and was booked for 2015 but pulled out when it was leaked, hence Burt Bacharach booked at late notice.

Also I still reckon Kraftwerk and Jackson Browne

I considered it but surely he wouldn't want anyone to be suggesting him, working it out or too high question over it if he could pull again.
