2019 Headliners

For fear of being shot down, but I would probably self combust if Killers played the pyramid. (in my top 10 of bands over the last 15 years) Yes they've been around years, but they do have a back catalogue that would go down well on the BBC on a saturday night, atlhough to be fair Brandons voice always sounds dreadful on TV (it probably does in real life but I'm alwasys too busy singing and dancing to notice)

If its true, I hope they play a blinder and we are all back on afterwards saying how immense it was .... its not edgy , its not current , they;re not cool but judging by the JP last year it'll be a party

Please don;t let the Doves clash with them else I'll be in turmoil

LG into the Killers though is rather too close to a V line up in days gone by

My predicion is they ended with Mr brightside in the JP so they'll start with it on the pyramid (get it out the way)

and I just have.

If i'm understanding this right the killers info has come from a different direction to the normals from the same source... but as a well connected source his source for the killers should still be sound.

"Confident" is what he says.

Killers signed up as Macca replacements? I think you said previously the macca info was sound but something changed... Killers are definitely the type of band anyone can throw in for an easy replacement headliner on relatively short notice.

I wish it was weaker. The Cure and The Killers sold out Hyde Park in days in 2017 and 2018. Closest fastest sellers at the venue to the Stones. I don’t think it helps resale chances at all.

The biggest help to resale chances was Paul McCartney dropping out of the running. Anything else is a bonus.

Realistically Stormzy/Cure/Killers is about as much opportunity as a resaler like myself could hope for.

LG into Killers is exactly the same as IOW last year.... which was also on the BBC.... ?

But nothing new about the Cure? Not that we really need it

oh, along with saying the Killers he also said The Cure as the other unannounced headliner.

What he's said is probably kosher, but as he's got it from a different place to his normal I'm being a little cautious about it.

No idea if they're a replacement.

And yep, I can see how what you say might work, although I'm leaning more the other way, that they were probably signed up to headline after playing in 2017. It seems to make sense.

So maybe that macca info was always duff? I dunno.

The fact that someone else said about The Killers and The Cure this morning but add to it too.

Yes it isn't the strongest set of headliners but in a year where others have George Ezra or a fucking Gallagher brother we could be doing worse

Glasto shouldn’t have to resort to that level. Had a couple years with which to plan. Either someone bailed or they fucked it up.

Well they are a great act and always but on a good show with massive sing along songs so they are a safe booking. Not going to lie though I am sick of seeing them (even though unless someone i like is on another stage ill be watching them again). They seem to headline every festival every year... Like you could automatically put them as a strong rumour every year for any festival :)

Agree.

At least following the last fallow year we got the Stones!

Having looked at it Arctic Monkeys headlined post fallow year the last two times...

Although it's disappointing not to have a stand out headliner this year, I feel the rest of the lineup this year is going to be so stacked that it won't matter. Tiny percentage of the overall festival experience is in the headliner.

Yeah thats what im holding out hope for! Stacked lineup...

Vampire Weekend, Foals, Friendly Fires, Wu Tang, The Streets, Bastille, Tame Impala, Lumineers, Rudimental, Chvrches.... some of the ones im holding out hope for.

Quite pleased that The Killers are now in the running once more. Bit of a casual fan, loved Hot Fuss but never really got into anything after that. However, seen them live a couple of times over the past year and loved them. Not enough to go back and listen to them in my own time, but they do put on a decent gig.

Is there a band that has oversaturated the festival scene in the last 15 years as much as the killers? Even when they went on hiatus Brandon toured his solo albums. Man can't stay away. They're a band that deserve a second headline slot; one of the biggest bands this century in the UK and potentially could have been one of the most exciting if they didn't play everything they got offered. Go down a treat though like they did @ TRNSMT last year

    • It was awful during Father John Misty and I was close to the front. People just shouting and laughing their f-ing heads off about nothing in particular and being louder than the bloody stage.
    • Other things I noted yesterday, away from the obvious…   Positives: - an extra water point towards the back left of the main stages has appeared, which I believe is new for this year (and was much needed) - handing out free ponchos was a good touch  - caroline were fantastic. I’d never been in the Auditori Rockdelux before, it’s a wonderful venue and a great venue if you fancy a more chilled out environment  Negatives: - the talkers. I know it’s always bad here (and most festivals nowadays) but f**k me people wouldn’t shut up yesterday. I wonder if it was partly as a result of people being at artists they had little interest in (due to rain limiting their options), although it wasn’t great during blood orange. We’ll be making an effort to get a spot nearer the front for anyone we particularly care about over the weekend  - not enough staff around (and the ones that are there are largely useless). Most other festivals have them everywhere and are happy to help
