Stormzy, The Cure and Lady Gaga would be very strange headliners and I highly doubt the GP would lap that up.

i guess resale will be a walk in the park right?.... RIGHT?

also Lady Gaga being the biggest act on the lineup considering her career (before a star is born) is pretty mad. She was meant to be on a decline!

Can’t really see why the general public would be overly against it.

Petitioners and Dark Fruits twitter probably would but in terms of the general public (which I realise does include the previous categories mentioned), it covers all bases.

Stormzy, Lady Gaga and The Cure eh...

So another 'yeah but there's loads of other acts' in the caf years then.

For me the headliners are at around 4pm anyway as they're the only sets I remember all the way through as I'm not too hungover or drunk at that point. Still hoping for Macca though (no slight meant against Gaga who might be a better choice).

Lonsdale would hate it.

For that reason I’m in.

Mumfords just postponed their tour cos they're headlining glastonbury.

Was looking for something to go to this week on DICE and noticed Mumfords had tickets for Manchester/Leeds still available. Hopefully they're not quite as likely a prospect going forward as we fear if they can't fill arenas...

5. He was always booked for 2020 not this year

6. HE was booked for 2019 but it's now changed to 2020

6 - what I’ve been thinking. Emily mentioned that’s been a problem. And we’ve heard that Stormy Z might have stepped up from someone else.

Chances we’ve been off all along, and it’s Stormz, Cure +1?

Best booking would be Gaga, but as I mentioned at the weekend, I’ve been told it’s Bruce. Both fit twitter girl’s tweet.

I’ve spent the last couple of days catching up on this thread. It’s been mentioned here somewhere.

Do you not just mean people speculating that he could have been cos they don't think he's big enough? Seems pretty clear that he was booked to headline when he posted that IG story now.

True. We’ve had a lot of feeling that Cure + Macca didn’t sit right, me included, so maybe he’s been / asked to be put back to 2020 for a while now.

No reason to doubt your source, but Bruce doesn’t fit Macca fan “probably wouldn’t like”, or someone surprising who might say no, IMHO.

Agreed. Also doesn’t address the potential balance issue from Cure and Macca to Cure and Bruce.

Guys,

think logically please

outside rumours, people pulling out etc.

lady gaga, stormzy, the cure.

that is not going to happen, it's no where near strong enough.

the cure macca stormzy is a lot stronger. If macca has pulled out, there is no chance they are going to replace him with lady gaga. Not when they are giving stormzy the bump up.

Mate if their biggest headliner has pulled out there's not a lot they can do. They can't just pick up whoever they want when most people who are active will have commitments elsewhere. In fact, if he has pulled out I'd say they'd have done pretty well to get Gaga to replace him.

Yeah it'd be weak, but obviously Stormzy was booked when they thought they had Macca, so they probably thought they could afford to have a smaller headliner alongside him. If Macca then pulls out and they can't get anyone near his size to replace him then they're stuck in that situation.

They can't just conjure up a Springsteen or a Rolling Stones or a Fleetwood Mac outta nowhere.

If Stormzy, The Cure, Gaga doesn't measure up as big enough in some people's eyes then that just shows Glastonbury have backed themselves into a corner with trying to make massive bookings. And if that's the case then the way to rectify it is to book left-feild choices like Stormzy.

Plus Emily's "most people we wanted are holding out for 50th anniversary" or words to that effect, would suggest they tried all the big guys without much luck and we shouldn't get our hopes up. If Macca has since pulled out then can't see how any big acts would suddenly become available

    • Came here to post that.   Not based on any info, can just see it happening.
    • I'm not sure about the entrance but it wouldn't be a surprise to find the festival have secured use of the land from Steanbow who own it for either new CV space, or for authorised off-site camping as they did with Worthy View.  An authorised off-site pitch-your-own with decent facilities priced just below WV would fly off the shelves as an option.
    • Burnham needs to hold onto his seat , plus needs labour to hold onto all those other seats that could go Reform, so I think some blue labour stuff might stay...and it will be back to the tactic of hoping enough left/liberal voters will get behind labour and not go Green in order to stop a Reform govt...obviously wasn't working with Starmer, but might with Burnham if he shows enough leg. Have to see, Burnham is going from a cushty job where he's very popular and seen as successful to probably the most difficult job going, prime minister of this country...and his popularity might not last long when people realise he can't fix all the problems over night. What he can do is give a sense of direction and optimism which is badly needed, but he will also be faced with a whole bunch of nasty trade offs and could be where Starmer is now in a matter of months.
    • Yep, The Cure and The xx are the two most painful misses for me this year. The Cure literally plays at every corner, except the one I attend to.
