Glastonbury have history of giving the sub slots to more niche, critically acclaimed acts, though. Beck and Tame Impala subbed above Ellie Goulding in 2016, and back then most were predicting Tame to be 3rd Pyramid or subbing Other with Goulding subbing Pyramid. The National subbed above Katy Perry in 2017, D'Angelo was seemingly going to sub Adele in 2016 before pulling out (which was again whilst Ellie Goulding was playing third down on a different day).

Size-wise, Iggy is probably more suited to third down, but he seems a more likely continuation to previous years than Paolo Nutini does.

Don't see QOTSA still touring next Summer.

Ellie Goulding didn't even deserve that spot either. From what i heard of it- utter dross and her just running around the stage like an absolute tit and I was only in the queue for the yorkshire puddings, she nearly made me want to miss out on that and for that she will never be forgiven.

I still got my food though....

In x years time, when Macca departs this mortal coil and the world mourns the departure of (arguably) the greatest songwriter/artist of the rock era, some people will look back and rue the decision to watch Bastille on the Other.

When he was announced for 2004 I was looking forward to it, but then did some research and realised the beatles songs I liked were mainly written by Lennon, and the ones I didn't like were written by him. I Get that he has a big legacy but I'm not really a fan of his.

Couldn't even try his solo stuff after this:

Its all I think of whenever I hear his name!?

Their live shows sound sick. Apparently they hand out earplugs at the door and it's so loud your body will be shaking for the whole gig. Read stuff in the past about people vomiting at them.

Not gonna be nearly as loud at a festival tho is it? So if you're going with hopes of shitting your pants, you'll be disappointed.

Agree completely with this. MBV's music is good enough to stand on it's own two feet without that childish crap. I've never felt physically sick at gigs and never intend too.

I don't think they intend to make the crowd sick mate, it's just that how loud their shows are can have that effect by the sounds of it.

Have you listened to My Bloody Valentine?

Yes and I'd struggle to describe anything they've ever produced as music.

I barely remember MBV's set from when I saw them at Bilbao BBK in July but I don't think it was louder than anyone else there. I've given Loveless a couple of listens but never particularly taken to it; thinking about it though I think I've had it on quietly late at night. I'll try it again loud at some point.

Not sure what to make of Paul McCartney. It isn't overly exciting for me, but I know it's something I might one day regret not going to, but then at the same time I don't want to see a headliner purely for that reason. Hopefully there's a load of shit on up against him to save any decision making.

    • Thing is, I'd have said that as well.   But then she inexplicably ended up on the Wilderness lineup and that changes everything. I reckon if that goes well, which it will, then she's very much in the picture.
    • This has probably been discussed a hundred times already on efests but what constitutes a legend? I know some of it is my age but I don't see eurithmics or Duran Duran as legend status. Neil young or nils lofgren then yes and neither of them have overly troubled the charts. Duran Duran and indeed the eurithmics I would put in the 80s category and whilst it would be ok (human league at isle of wight we're fabulous) they just arent in my mind legend status.  Zombies played same festival- i would take that.
    • friendly tonight delayed , pitch draining pretty quick to be fair .... not sure it bodes well for other games with potential fixture backlog
    • Never happen, but an Annie Lennox solo or Eurythmics reunion would make me very happy.
    • Burnham going to go blue labour to ensure he wins makerfield and gets enough nominations from the PLP. How he’d govern is anyone’s guess. Odds on to win anyway so guess we’re not too far away from finding out.
