it's not a great site. I don't think it's big enough either (with usable space), tho it dependsa what size the want to make the new fest.

Aye, lots of hills. Although with the budget they'll have I'm sure they could make that work (Boomtown manages fine on that front I hear)

With a new event like this they could also increase the number of ticket + coach packages to free up room potentially...

Do I read that right - is that a potential 2 year hiatus for Glasto until 2020 then?

Michael: Well, it’s certainly in the air at the moment. We’re very much still at the planning stages. We’ve talked about 2019 for the event away from Worthy Farm, but it could well be 2021.

Emily: Yes, I think we’re most likely going to come back here in 2019 after the fallow year in 2018, when there will be no event. Then 2020 is our 50th anniversary. And 2021, we may then do a show somewhere else, which we’re calling the Variety Bazaar. But none of this is set in stone.

Hmm. You're right. However, 'none of this is set in stone'. A two year Glasto run followed by another 'year off'? All getting complicated and irregular. Interesting times.

They also confirmed what we all thought and suspected anyway:

We open the ticket site slowly so that they’re not gone in 30 seconds and people have a fair chance. But within an hour, you’ll know whether you’ve got one.

So they deliberately sell tickets slowly so it seems fairer to everybody, it's scary that they could decide to sell them in a couple of minutes if they wanted!

Great reading, some nice new info and really good to get the commitment to Worthy Farm underlined like that.

Look forward to the new area, hopefully it really helps spread the crowds out. Quite enjoy an evening in the Park area so will be good to have a new area nearby to explore.

If it is to be 'not in the same year as Glastonbury', then they'll have to have a shorter period to fallow after 2018, or wait until maybe 2023 to put on Variety Bazaar, and it sounds as if they're keen to do it before that. I could see it being a more regular, 'rigid, four G's to one VB. Repeat.

The DonaldTM wouldn't make it through Gate A!

Folk that spend two minutes trying to get a ticket fail, then give up.

Looking at the map of last year's festival, "west of Park" is Dairy Ground or Paines . Now it's a while since I camped in Dairy but I don't recall much of a slope? Surely you need a decent slope to give a view of a big screen so I would have though it might be above the Park Stage where the Glastonbury sign is? Which is also not used for camping it's a bit of an empty area with the BBC platform about halfway up and Crow's Nest at the top.

Anyway the people who were posting on the Variety Bazaar thread that this was going to the last one evs can chill out.

Dairy Ground (2016 version) is a bit too north and out of the way IMO. the camping bit directly to the west of The Park perhaps, but that might be too close to Arcadia?

if they re-jigged some of the fencing at the very south of The Park (to the left of the stage), they could open out a path through to South Park 2 and take some of the general and staff camping from there, which is on a slope.

    • The Great Fete Festival (Sunday Only) Ocean Colour Scene day on Tickets For Good.
    • I was also at Ghost but seated. When they scanned my ticket's and they came up as seated they printed a small ticket with the seat number info.
    • I was standing for Ghost at O2 London last year where they put the phone in a pouch beforehand so I assume they're is a mechanism in place for people in seats.
    • Most likely not, keeping an eye on Tixel and Twickets might be the best option.
