I am considering driving to Russia with a friend to catch a few World Cup games in June 2018.

I haven't discussed this yet with my wife. If you read these forums darling, would that be ok?

Maybe I'm a slave to mainstream media, but isn't the combination of Russia and football a tad risky?

It could be, yes! Always wanted to visit St Petersburg, so will probably only apply for tickets there. TBH the drive there and back will be as enjoyable as the football - drive through Germany, Poland there and back through Scandinavia. Will stay away the games allocated to SP look like attracting trouble.

Although I have a sneaky suspicion the final draw may avert such clashes. Not that I would want to accuse an upstanding organisation of FIFA of mendacity, you understand...

Anyone thinking about Sziget? I went for the day about five years ago when I was passing through to see the Chemical Brothers and it was awesome. Hoping to try again for the week.

It's high on my festival to do list. Definitely a contender for 2018.

I get the impression Boomtown may well experience the same kind of ticket carnage as Glasto in 2018.

Still undecided at this point as there are so many decent looking festivals about, but may go for one I haven't done before. Or Secret Garden Party, which I haven't done since 2008.

That's what I did in 2012 - would recommend!

Dunno who I'm going to marry next year though.

A wedding is about as close as it gets to the happiness that I feel at Glastonbury.

I hope my finance doesn't see that but there you go

I turn 40 in 2018 and we will have been married 10 years.  We will have a cheap summer at home (drinking in the garden).  Then in November a trip to Vegas and on to Miami for the Jamrock Reggae Cruise.   It is taking a lot of saving up for but will be a once in a lifetime trip. :)

My job's going to finish up some time between now and October 2018, most likely end of June 18 so I'll probably be looking for a job.

I'll be after one that allows leave every year at the end of June.

Working on past 65, Gnomy?

When I didn't - at first - get Glastonbury 2016 tickets, I registered to work with Oxfam, and had the chance to work the festival with them.

So in the fallow year, I really want to support Oxfam and work at least one of the many festivals they do, I haven't decided yet (WOMAD, 200 Trees, Latitude, maybe), any experience working other festivals I would appreciate the feedback...

Latitude is a lot more laid back to work at although it has taken them 11 years to sort out the General Crew Camping Area - well its location anyway - I was dead against the move until I set up this year and discovered My Portable DAB Radio had perfect reception - all the previous Crew Camps the radio could only pick up limited FM Broadcasts and no DAB Stations at all - Every other Year there was always a long walk from the crew car park to the crew area but this year they have the crew car park right next to the General Crew Camping Area - on the Monday there was enough space to drive up to our fence so we were able to load the car up within feet of where we had been camping and as the exit road is ' Punter free ' driving out was easy and we were straight down the main road heading back to London .

Now they have sorted out that area { with power/water/drainage } I would expect them just to keep using that area for future years.

Its in a well secure area which is half the battle.

you should give it a try - the ground tends not to get muddy either.

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.

    • BBC iPlayer: Will serve as the main hub for past sets, including both recent hits and iconic archival gems. You can explore the BBC iPlayer to watch curated compilations, "Best of Glastonbury" recaps, and on-demand replays of historic headline performances. [1, 2, 3] TV Broadcasts (BBC Two & BBC Three): The channels will air dedicated compilation shows. Leading up to the weekend, you can watch archive programming such as Glastonbury: 70s Legends, 80s Legends, and 90s Legends on BBC Two. [1] Radio & BBC Sounds: Pop-up Glastonbury radio stations on BBC Sounds will feature non-stop coverage, including exclusive mixes and huge sets from past years
    • Got HBO Max to watch football so watched One Battle After Another which is a great film and deserves its awards and then rewatched Magnolia and that is a flipping amazing film...so much in it. (also rewatching Angels In America series which is also amazing).
