I'm from Edinburgh, 16-18 degrees is positively balmy!!!

I attended a 2 night festival in aviemore last july and it was chucking it down for at least 50% of the time, and was 12 degrees - 9 at night. Still had a ball (granted 5 days of that would have been horrific)

As long as it's not a washout I'm happy. Which is looking unlikely.

Let's be positive!!

Don't think you'll find any evidence that Huddersfield was ever the capital of the West Riding of Yorkshire, Jeffie!

Ha, so you say.....

Hiking boots vs wellies, what should I take? Preferably only one.

Think it depends on how decent your wellies are. Mine were pricey but they're comfy so I'm wellies all the way. Others on this board are staunch hiking boot wearers. Think in general, hiking boots are comfier and cope with most weather. Wellies only if it's a wet mud bath.

Was in Trafford park at work and both roads near Kellogg's were flooded with the traffic at a standstill

Work in Trafford Park too and walked 5 minutes to the bus stop by Kellogg's and was absolutely soaking wet through, had puddles in my socks. Crazy weather of biblical proportions

Wellies keep your feet dry from the mud and rain, but come nightfall your feet and socks are soaked from sweat! You can't win!

Best of both worlds

I've gone right off Gav.

Who's Gav anyway? The BBC are standing firm, saying it's going to be OK. I'm clinging to that plus....it's too far away to be really sure.

Gav is someone who was ok at the back end of last week but he's turned into a bit of a prick recently. This has corsponded whit the decline in his weather forecasts

I don't remember this Gav character being very accurate last year
