Im completely new to this chat, could someone update me with what the rumours  are regarding Radiohead and Glastonbury. Is there anything concrete or any solid rumours apart from speculation? Thanks!

Swedge summed it up quite nicely a few pages ago.

I was telling a mate who was questioning my continued belief that they'll play the circumstantial evidence we have that at the moment, have I missed anything out?

One of Bastille told someone ages ago they were subbing Disclosure on the Friday night
Loaded (who are normally a decent source for Glasto rumours) have said all along that the Other headliners were likely to be Disclosure/New Order/BMTH while Neil has heard from the journalist that the most unlikely of the three was probably BMTH
Neil's source on Radiohead who has been right every time they've been there, including the 'secret' set at The Park a few years back has said for months that they'd be there but weren't headlining

Anything else?

I really don't know why I bother sometimes :P she is also in the 'it all sounds the same' camp!

Same here, but I added Burn the Witch to a spotify playlist without telling her and she says she really likes it and has had it on repeat a few times.  I think the strings help

I've tried sneaking songs into playlists but my girlfriend isn't falling for it :P She enjoys it until Thom's vocals come in, then the jig is up.

If I don't then it's all years&years and bastille, and I have to listen too

Man, I've heard those exact same comments so many times.

Apparently Thom 'can't sing'.

*deep breaths*

Thom has a great singing voice. I really don't understand my other half's beef with him.

*sigh*

If Radiohead are in fact subbing Adele, what exactly is the perceived rationale behind not including them on the initial poster?

So the people at Glasto HQ can laugh their way through 294 pages of our desperate soles speculating it

Create extra hype later down the line? Perhaps RH themselves wanted the announcement to wait until their album was released. Who knows? There's still a decent possibility that they could do a Libertines and be a secret tba deal.

My wife's favourite Radiohead album is TKOL

if someone could explain that to me i'd be pretty grateful

Been listening to it far more than any of their other stuff recently, so under appreciated. After not massively enjoying The Bends on my first listen in a long while yesterday, TKOL is probably top 3 for me.

I just think on before Adele would be a bit underwhelming. The crowd would be shite, the set relatively short, getting near the front would be a nightmare...surely they have to be in the frame for a proper headline slot next year?!

As has been said, if they are playing under Adele this year then you've gotta imagine there's a reason for it, whether it be all of next years headliners already being booked when Radiohead made their availability known or even the awful notion that they may not be around anymore by the time next years festival rolls around. Subbing Adele won't've been plan A, because as you say, it's hardly ideal

They'll be around. The press release said these would be the only dates the band would be playing in 2016. I'm sure there's more gigs next year, they wouldn't bow out without touring Asia again for example, or without touring more of the US except for NYC/LA.

Radiohead haven't headlined Glastonbury in 13 years. There have been so many times where it seemed obvious they would headline, but they didn't. If there's a chance at all they will play the Pyramid stage this year, even if it's before Adele, i'll take it. This isn't a band that you gamble on.

They could easily do something whacky next year and avoid Glastonbury altogether. They could headline Latitude. They could do Isle of Wight...Hyde Park...who the hell knows?! They've headlined V and Reading since they last played Glastonbury. Hell, they might even tour Asia next summer instead of the European festival circuit.

I'm all in.

Slight digression, I just got the following message from my sis who is doing a drumming course.  Please don't shoot the messenger, but she has a point in places.

I'm doing Bossa Nova this week. Am downloading a playlist to play along to and I just discovered a song called Insensatez by Antonio Carlos Jol something which I would say Radiohead ripped off for Exit Music.

Interesting. I'm sure she could find plenty of Bossa Nova songs they ripped off for Present Tense, as much as I absolutely love that tune.

She's a real fan. Not like you.

Pretty much this. I really love TKOL. I haven't had the courage to put a list on here yet but HTTT and TKOL slug it out for top place. (And In Rainbows is standing on the edge shouting "what about ME?"). There are some great songs on TKOL, and Give Up The Ghost might just be the best thing I've heard in my life.

That is all.

    • Yeh, the quiet camping also seems to be on the same side (broadly) as the bits of the festival that go on the latest (Far Out / Chai Waalahs / RTT until 4am). We're always in Tangerine Fields which is right behind the main stage and as soon as that and Rising Stage are done it's pretty quiet (midnight onwards) which I'd guess is pretty similar if you can hack taking all your gear from the car past the big tree in the middle and into the campsites that side.
    • Can't see Bimble line up anywhere - am I being dense and missing an obvious release somewhere?
    • Not expecting a tour imminently but Peter Gabriel would fit the vibes magnificently.
    • I have but a very long time ago and can remember nothing about it at all. Which I suppose is a review of sorts
    • Addison Rae has 33m instagram followers, Slayyyter 667k. Also 15 to 7,5 million spotify listeners with Addison's last release being more than a year ago. Obviously these metrics aren't everything, but still there is a big gap in popularity between the two.
