He dropped their name because they were from Oxford. He wasn't muddled for this year.

Not sure their policy has been consistent on this... but this has happened in the past. it closed maybe 30 minutes early in 2011. There was a couple of hundred of us there after Cat Power on the Sunday night in 2013, who finished over an hour before the other stages.. The secret guest was - nobody!

Not necessarily, or even necessarily an issue. "We'd love to have them play" is pretty much what promoters usually say... Just because they'd like to have them doesn't mean there's a spot at the festival for them in any given year. The 'confirmation' they're waiting on might well be 'confirmation' that Fleetwood Mac definitely won't do it or whatever...

I think back then headlines sets were all 90 minutes? It's only relatively recently (perhaps with Springsteen) that they've started doing longer sets.

That said, a lot of it did come from this forum, and the threads got so huge and imposing that everyone but the Radiohead fans stopped reading and participating, so the neutral/sane viewpoint went away and you were left with a thread of people who wanted a thing to happen convincing each other that every bit of news supported a theory.

I read the thread with a sense of morbid fascination. All I can say is that you are all fecking mad.

I have never really come into contact with Radiohead fans before, but you's are like a strange little cult..

Whether the obsession is a good or bad thing, I have not worked out yet.

This. I've always been in the camp of a headline show in 2017 after larger shows like arenas / maybe outdoor gigs. I would always prefer a band I love to headline rather than a small secret set somewhere.

I think it would make more sense for them to be at the festival, headlining next year. They would've had plenty of practice touring the new album, testing set lists etc. Glastonbury 2017 could be the perfect closer to their tour run!

a few people incl me have noticed and suggested this, however I seem to recall this happened in a previous year, maybe last year? then it was just filled in at a later date with act(s) that were generally of the right size and stature to play there. This year i'd expect something like correspondents and or dub pistols in those slots.

Is time to face reality lads. Radiohead will not be playing the hell stage on Friday night. They won't be playing at all. Anywhere.

 

Id say chances of a secret set by someone as big as radiohead are zero. Thanks to social media it's only a secret set until 2 seconds after it starts then everyone knows and it leads to dangerous overcrowding and causes a headache for security.

finished at 10.15pm in 2014 and nothing happened afterwards. some years they just seem to finish it early for some reason
