Radiohead touring in 2016

To me, the poster is more important than the announcement of the headliners.  This explosion of information can build excitement levels of seeing current and forgotten favourites and artists you may not necessarily go to see in their own gig.

Obviously there are more and more self confirmed over social media, but personal wish lists can then (hopefully) change to must see lists.

We would be wiser though - if they have put that on the poster despite having announced all the headliners already it means something big is happening, which would obviously be Radiohead. Whereas it'd all still be up in the air if there was no Radiohead nor SPECIAL GUESTS there. That's how I think it's gonna go down - this thing won't be resolved that easily. This will be the year's saga.

Agreed. I can see this being likely.

It's like George R R Martin is writing the storyline for this years headline / Radiohead saga.

He'll probably script Thom being unexpectedly knifed in the face at the start of June.

Im expecting line up during balance payment week this year. In 13 and 14 they gave us a line up before the deadline. Last year was obviously different because of the princident. And of course Radiohead will be on there... Keep the faith.

Knowing my luck that means it won't get finished until 2017, when I won't get a ticket.

iven FF's pointing out of how odd they might look listed with the subs, could see them being named and labelled as "Special Guests" (or of course, more likely, not being named at all and not playing - but let's not think that way yet).

If they did get announced as a Saturday sub, the poster would probably just changed formatting wouldn't it. It's not got a really strict formula they have to keep to. Wouldn't they be listed like:

MUSE
ADELE
COLDPLAY
RADIOHEAD

FOALS
ELLIE GOULDING

or

MUSE
ADELE
RADIOHEAD
COLDPLAY
FOALS

ELLIE GOULDING

Chris Martin will kick his fucking yoga mat round the bedroom when he sees that! Christ, I wouldn't want to be a bowl of quinoa in his house when that goes down.

Just got a notification on my phone that a couple of Glasto affiliated Twitter accounts had retweeted a photo. "POSTER TIME!!" I thought, but no. Just some bumpf about Brothers.

My eyes went straight to "POSTER TIME!!" in your post :P Dammit!

Nothing worse than bumpf.

The headliners weren't much of a saga tho. We knew the outcome by the end of the second chapter. :P

Yeah, but as evidenced by this thread alone we efesters can turn anything into a saga! It's an innate talent we all share.

In a semi-flippant aside, I genuinely wonder if there's another dark corner of the internet somewhere where the issue of Adele headlining / Adele in general is being discussed to such an almost sub-atomic level as on these boards?

I been to some Adele fan forums...and it ain't happening there!

I can't imagine an Adele forum being a hotbed of debate.

"I like Adele"

"I like Adele too."

"And me..."

I suspect Adele fan forums and Radiohead forums aren't too similar!

I posted a quote round here somewhere recently from an Adele Forum where they were congratulating her on passing her driving test.

Wowcher!

Its such a rollercoaster this year, how many times have we swung from radiohead are playing to radiohead are maybe playing to radiohead arent going to be there?

Have to say I love this part of the festival, In my first year I couldnt belive we got so little info ahead of time and I was one of the ones ranting about not knowing the lineup before ticket balance was due blah blah blah.

But now ive grown to love it.....the anticipation ,the wondering, the guesswork.....its all part of the fun....and then the big reveal when you finally see that poster is like taking an incredibly large dump after a 24 hour period of ass clenching.....truly magical

if you stick with what i've said there's no rollercoaster.

I remain confident that what i've been told is more likely right then wrong.

    • To be fair @Superscally barely mentions the running thing. Very quiet about it 😘
    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
    • And all (or all but one) of the secret sets repeats though?
