Radiohead touring in 2016

Could he be guesstimating the running order based on last year's poster and eventual times? It's fairly easy to work out when the bigger acts will play just from the poster alone.

Radiohead on the poster but not headlining would probably kibosh any hopes for a proper headline set at Glasto anytime soon.

It won't be a full set, nowhere near, and wouldn't even come close to matching the experience seeing them at an arena (which they'll probably play next year). 

Obviously it's still Radiohead playing so would still drop everything and see them, but never felt this neutral at the idea of seeing them play.

Sorry but given the previous Radiohead heartbreak it would be criminal for me to buy into this. Would love it if it happened though - tell your mate I'd buy him a pint.

They did that at the Park Stage though. If they did that, it'd have to be billed as "Radiohead plays LP9" - at Primavera Suede are billed as playing Night Thoughts for example. At least people would know what they were turning up to. But these shows are in the middle of what is basically a world tour where they'll presumably be playing a proper set at every gig.

I'd be happy to see a fan pleasing set at the Roundhouse, then the hits at Glastonbury.

Would wait to see where it lands first but yeah, the idea of the Radiohead set I've dreamed of seeing at Glasto being a sub slot where many will be just having a look before they see the headliner  isn't really what I'd hope for. I've been sceptical as to whether people are familiar with their new stuff for it to be worthwhile headlining, never mind lower down.

It's Radiohead at Glastonbury. If they are indeed on the lineup poster (not allowing myself to believe yet) they will definitely have a prominent slot. I'd take an 80 sub headline, special guest slot at Glastonbury any day. We've never had any guarantees that Radiohead would headline the festival again, so I will take what I can get. EE saying the headliners have been lined up for next year as well makes me think Radiohead isn't one of them, so this may be the best we can get.

If you think about it, and if this is ridiculous pls feel free to tell me I'm chatting bollocks BUT.. On their UK tour RH are playing the Roundhouse.. Not any UK stadiums. Could this perhaps justify why they could only be subbing or headlining the Other. All along it has been Muse, Adele, Coldplay but if Eavis wanted Radiohead could she perhaps use the excuse of them not headlining being down to not play stadiums on a UK tour but the other 3 are? Could that have swung RH to perhaps agreeing to a 'lower down' slot?

Luckily we've both got tickets then! Maybe the fact I'm seeing them a few times this summer makes me less excited about a minor Glasto appearance. 

A Glasto headline spot however would be worth even more than a small gig. I've seen them before at smaller places like Blackpool Empress Ballroom and Manchester Apollo, but the Glasto headline spot is the one I'm waiting on.

I have no doubt that Radiohead could play stadia if they wanted to. Just look how quickly the Roundhouse gigs went.

It would make no difference to their position on the lineup.

They're headlining festivals left, right and centre elsewhere.

In fairness, the festivals they are headlining are small-medium size. They aren't headlining a festival anywhere near the size of Glastonbury in Europe. I'm not sure how big the US festivals are, or the one in Tokyo (although I believe that's medium sized).

It's pretty legitimate though, most fans will be happy to see them but considering how overdue they are for a proper headline set and the fact this could reduce their chances of a proper headline set anytime soon it's a fair comment.

I completely agree. But they're not and the other 3 are, and they were late onto the Glasto bus.

I'm with you 100%. There are no guarantees they will ever headline the festival again. This could well be their last huge slot at Glastonbury.

I still think that might be of relevance. It's an odd and unnecessary word to include unless it means something against where they're not headlining.

Big rumours they are genuinely headlining other US festivals e.g. Lollapalooza which wasn't announced in that list. I think by "headline shows" they meant their own gigs.

but even for their own shows it's an odd thing to include.

No one else does.

And it's meaningless unless there's also non-headline shows.
