I'll be nowhere near the Pyramid for the headliners, the fact Adele and Coldplay are the biggest acts in the world today doesn't automatically mean you have to like them. They're the biggest because they're bland and inoffensive and the general public lap that shit up.

Nicely put ... and it's very likely that will be the case with every headliner. It's been my own thinking for 20+ years.

As headliners go, they're no more or less suitable than the headliners in just about any year. If headliners are you bag there shouldn't be complaints about these.

Can't really say it's the worst in recent history as all 3 acts will have very sizeable crowds (especially compared to Kanye and Metallica). The masses will be happy.

But yeah, on a personal level, it's the worst set of headliners since I've been going/had an interest in going.

It's the repitition which annoys me. Adele - fair enough, give her a shot. Museplay... nah.

I thought two of last years (eventual) headliners were interesting. Florence making the step up and Kanye (who I'm not particularly a fan of) can be accused of many things but bland isn't one of them.

I accept your general point however that the criticism I'm levelled at Coldplay and Adele could be levelled at almost every headline level act, this year I just think it's a bit more full on.

From watching the video I can't see how it wasn't planned, all seemed very well rehearsed.  "Right I have some news for you all"

Was hardly a slip of the tounge and shit oops I shouldn't have said it

Got a link for this video, please? Done a bit of googling but not been able to find it. Quotes galore but can't seem to find the video.

My secretary has provided it...... Good job.

The problem with the headliners is Muse and Coldplay, not Adele. If we had Kendrick Lamar, Adele and Radiohead as headliners the festival would look very different. Adele is BBC friendly MOR tripe, but that would be fine if she was the only headliner like that. It's just compounded with Coldplay and Muse.

The Muse booking still baffles me. That's where I think they dropped the ball. But it's funny because they're the only one I'll see haha.

I'd say your issue is caused by your own tastes.

If you didn't like mainstream bollocks you'd never have cared anyway, knowing that it's hugely unlikely that a headliner would appeal.

It's called 'growing up'. :P

I've seen loadsa Pyramid headliners mate as you know. Guess it's the three of them looked upon together that rankles. It's as "safe" as it has ever, ever been.

As a "foreigner" also, the Englishness is ratcheted up to near unbearable levels. Few Jacks in the crowd, flags and bowlers, this year for deffo. Pro-Brexit bunch will lap this up.

If England win their group... she starts as England's second round game finishes.

I can see it now. She invites finishes, legs it to the other Stage and does the John Barnes rap.... "There's only one way to beat them - get round the back"

Fixed for you.

I'm hesitant to say she's bigger than Coldplay right now. They've had a huge year. It's probably neck and neck but I don't care enough to research album sales etc.....

You don't really have to seeing as Adele's third week album sales kept Coldplay from reaching no. 1 in most countries.

Problem of being the biggest music festival going, innit? You're organising Glastonbury, there are expectations. You're on the blower to bands trying to sort out your headliners. Which one of muse, coldplay and adele do you say, 'Nah, you're alright. No thanks. Why don't you try Giddings?’

Roughly, Adele has sold circa 50m, Coldplay 80m. Adele is selling loads more per album, Coldplay aren't doing too shabby.

Booking these three was an afternoon's work by Emily mate. As clear a "noooo we're not gonna fahking do Stone'enge!" reaction to the Prince fiasco as your likely to see.
