Yeah it doesn't make all that much sense really. They are the smallest band on that day's lineup so why they can't just bill them for people to think "Charlatans will be a decent start to the day" rather than disappointing people still hoping for mega acts to kick things off, I do not know.

that's odd. I thought they had more #1 albums than the rest of the day's Other lineup combined....?

subheadliners for pyramid in 2002...do you really think any of those Other acts on friday will ever sub the pyramid?? If Rudimental do, that says more about the state of the industy these days than it does about quality...

So agree with you here. I don't understand the bitching. People are expecting a "mega act"? Why? There's never been one in this slot.

The charlatans are a great band with a lot of history and great tunes. Pipe down or start your day somewhere else.

I think they will have to stop this surprise band opening the other stage thing as it's clearly confusing people....

The charlatans will be great. They have so many songs. I think if they had gone on hiatus/split up in about 2005 then come back this year they would be commanding at least the same size slots as sfa.

Very pleased with this. Liked a fair few of their songs and seen them a few tines over the years. Probably wouldn't bother if they were in a more natural position higher up the bill but the Charlatans and then Hobo Jones is a cracking start to Friday.

I'm sure people will recognise who they are when they see the backdrop or the bass drum.

They ALWAYS finish with sproston green. they'll start with Weirdo at a guess, or maybe North Country Boy

This ^^^^

Saw them at BBC 6 Music Fest in Gateshead earlier this year they were fooking ace! Don't get the hate for them on here, they have a unique sound and good tracks. New album is excellent. Just disappointed theyre not headlining JP or Park and doing a longer set.

I like The Charlatans and the new album is actually pretty good too. It's odd to have them as special guests that early on when really they'd fit quite nicely (along with The Cribs) up between Jungle and The Vaccines.

As much as I am(/was) a fan of The Cribs I don't see them going down too well in that slot. A large, sober, outdoor crowd isn't really their thing. They're the kind of band that make up for their shortcomings (singing n stuff) with manic sweaty energy in small rooms.

New album is pretty good tbh, I like them but I'm seeing the week after in Manchester with supper furries so not that bothered but will see on the day lol

Any possiblity the charlatans are doing another TBC on a different stage? And it's instead someone like Bastille on the other?

Only because I can see a lot of people doing what i'd probably do if I saw the big "charlatans" banner, and that's shrug and walk away. I don't see the point in it being billed as 'special guests' if it's not really anything special.

No, it's The Charlatans. We've been through this several times already.

You don't think the Charlatans are special? From the baggy era, through britpop and out the other side, still making cracking tunes today.

I reckon they are a cracking choice.

As much as they're a decent band, they're not a 'wow' band as such. You'd struggle to avoid them if you've been going to festivals for years.

It just seems a daft idea the whole 'special guests' idea when they're just run of the mill bands you'd see on a normal line up.

I'd say the Charlatans are a lot more "special" than the last two years.

I'm happy enough with Charlatans, never had a chance to see them so does me.

I know crowd management is always going to be an issue. Anyone else think it's a bit harsh they're starting everyone else on the major stages at 11 too? Some are relatively unknown and their chances of getting a decentcrowd must surely be hindered by everyone being at the Other?

    • Seems the addition of the Sun Stage area is interesting. Suspect this is the area where the Stage 4 used to be pre-2024. Looks as though they want to try create some space to keep people in amongst the arena post-headliners, rather than just crowds all descending back on the campsite entertainment at once.
    • 2000 Trees - 3 Day Tickets on Concert for Carers to buy (pair £15) sure they will not have them for long, I cant check if they are still available as it now says I have already bought tickets.
    • times and technology has changed , a pyramid headliner is often about the show thats put on as much as the music like it or not and as much as many would like to you cant really blame an artist for trying to get the best out of the set both for the audience in the field and for the cameras also .... Beyonce was 15 years ago
