I can't help but wonder why it's taking so long when they clearly have a full lineup... Unless there's had to be some major switching

Because they've clearly decided to stagger it and release it a stage at a time.

Whether you like it or not is one thing, but this isn't a ramshackle accident, it's a deliberate strategy.

I agree with what someone else said about the drip-feed so far.

To be honest there was only a couple of acts that interested me on the Avalon, all the DJs at Silver Hayes/Shangri-La/The Common give me little interest, The Kidz Field isn't obviously for me, and the Leftfield isn't my kind of thing either.

So I really only have a couple more acts that I'm interested in that have been drip-fed.

Just seems like they are saving so much that is still to be announced that surely they have to release it this week.

I'd appreciate staggered announcements a lot more if it was for stages I'm fussed about. Huge dumps of DJs do nothing for me. :P

This is the main issue I have with the staggered announcements. It's a good idea to give each stage their own 'moment in the limelight' so to speak, but if you aren't interested in the music there (like Silver Hayes for me) .. There's not much excitement to be had from the release.

At least when it all drops at once there's something for us all to get excited about - regardless of musical tastes.

It makes me think about Michael saying he wants to take the focus off the headliners. This reinforces the breadth of Glastonbury, which is the big thing it has against its competition. If you had never been to a festival, you might be forgiven for thinking that Glastonbury was similar to V, if you just went off TV coverage and a poster.

Sure, the massive web page with the full lineup makes the point, but that's small print for the faithful. This drip drip of stages gets the message across for the more casual festival goer.

Sure, the tickets for 2015 are sold out, but not for 2016 or 2017.

You took the words right out of my mouth, he has said himself they are running out of headliners and that there is so much more on offer than 3 or 4 main stages.

Smallest violin in the world for the folk uninterested in over 200 acts being announced in a broad variety of genres across 7 stages in Silver Hayes.

So we all have to be super music fans who love every act across all genres because we all adore the diversity of Glastonbury yeah?

Or are people allowed to not be interested in a specific type of music, and as such cannot get excited by an announcement from there? Which we are discussing ... In the announcement thread.

But then in my opinion, then there's no excitement of a giant lineup dropping showcasing all of Glastonbury!

I'm not really fussed about this "showcasing the smaller areas of Glastonbury"... But that's just me. I never really get excited to see someone at the common etc, those states I just love to turn up and see what's playing!

I loved the silver Hayes announcement, but that doesn't mean I can't be a fan of this method.

Which of the numerous genres that spans the breadth of the Silver Hayes announcement is it you're not interested in?

What sort of acts can we expect from the glade if there is an announcement from them today?

I'm going to do a Ben and say that 'as this is my first Glastonbury' I don't know what to expect.

Alabama 3, dreadzone are usual suspects

You're allowed to like and dislike whatever you want (except for the Foo Fighters).

However, if you're just going to do a Partridge Shrug at the huge number of acts announced over the last few days, I'm allowed to do a Partridge Shrug at your Partridge Shrug ..

Given the fact that I personally haven't heard of 90% of those announced on there .. And the ones I have heard of I have no desire to watch .. I'm pretty much interested in none of it. I've seen a few acts there over the years, but I'm not a fan of the area in the slightest (a lot of the crowd there, the stages, the sound etc). But I know that's fine when I'm there as I can just avoid it. No biggie.

But what I was staying is that as such, I can't get excited by the lineup being released for Silver Hayes when I'm stil awaiting The Park/West Holts/JPT where I tend to spend the majority of my time.

All my own personal opinion of course .. Just saying I'd prefer the whole line up at once. I'm just impatient with the staggering that's all! (Although Avalon was a superb announcement!)

But Stubert what do you think will sell 2016, 17 tickets to the casual festival goer a big poster with the main all the big names on or yesterdays leftfield announcement?

Oh the big poster is the main draw for at the moment for sure. My theory is that the big poster+ big names being the draw is exactly the problem that the Eavii are trying to address by giving each little area its own distinctiveness.

It's always been said that Glastonbury is lots of mini festivals is the way it is run, but this year they really seem to be pushing that as an explicit part of the festival's identity.

I don't understand this. What do you think that 'giant lineup' is made of, if not all the smaller areas you're not excited about? Sure we'll get the main stages, but look at last year's full list and the vast majority of it is these littler areas. The same areas that together make Glastonbury so huge and so overwhelming.

I can understand the frustration of just wanting to know who's playing and where, and I share it, but now we know this is how they'll be releasing information, I'm content with it. I think it's great to get little announcements like we have been, so many more people will be aware of areas they'd only otherwise know about if they could be bothered to scroll way past the main stages. It's lovely to see each area taking so much pride in what they're putting together, not content just to coast off the back of association with Glastonbury, but really go all out to book the best names in their respective genres, put out cool looking posters and generate hype for themselves. They deserve that.

It's clearly a strategy rather than a mess, but if there's any flaw in this it's been to say nothing about the way they're doing it. There's no need for the ultra secrecy that seems to surround the general timing of line up announcements. If they were to say 'initial line up in April, smaller areas throughout May and the full line up in June', or whatever the timetable actually is, that would manage everybody's expectations so rather than get frustrated and entitled, we could relax and soak up the incremental announcements while we wait. Obviously they can do whatever they like, but they'd cause far less grief for ticket holders (and themselves, by way of moaning on social media) if they provided a loose timetable like that.

I can't get excited about the dump of Silver Hayes acts because there's no context. I don't know when or where they'll be playing or who they'll be playing at the same time as. Sure, J.E.S.u.S could be good but, I'm not excited about it because for all I know they're playing Sonic (shit) at the same time as Hot Chip (where I'll be no matter who else is on).

The strategy clearly seems to be about giving more exposure to the various areas.
Whether you like it or not, it's a structured plan... it's not a mess.

I like it and I know others don't.

But if anyone is complaining because all they are worried about is what's on the main 3 or 4 stages, then you get no sympathy really.

You'll still have plenty of time to suss out all the stuff you don't know on those stages between the full release and the festival.

The fact that you don't care what's on the smaller areas is no reason for them not to get their time in the spotlight
