don't worry, it's a common mistake when people make assumptions based on very little of the evidence available.

Absolutely. basing an opinion on an artists performance and music is madness.

That's the first time I've seen Foo Fighters properly. Bland well-produced mass market rock music with nothing to make them any different to any other bland well-produced rock automatons. Im now more convinced than ever that the obsession some on here have with them is either an in joke I don't get or a mass delusion like the emperor's new clothes.

I don't know if you've heard, Gonzo, but rock music is serious music, therefore your criticism doesn't stand. Pop music is soulless, and Taylor Swift fans like you and I can't be enjoying it seriously, we must be making some sort of joke, or we're deluded by TV into thinking we like it.

As a serious artiste myself. I can vouch for the fact that rock music is definately ment to be taken seriously. I guess that's the reason why we all dress in leather.

Just a few numbers for anybody who is interested in these things

If we take everything confirmed so far and add the TBC and SRs, then take a few off for margin of error, we have something like 925 bands / acts / performances now. If last year is anything to go by the leaves us with roughly 500 still to be announced.

I found that quite surprising myself, don't feel quite so in the dark now.

I think you feel in the dark because some bigger names will be announced. The Pyramid, Other, WH and glade will throw up a few bigger names.

Yeah, plus I'm generally not a massive dance music fan so Silver Hayes and The Common only throw up the odd gem for me. Also a reasonable chunk of that total is also made up from the circus field acts and a few from the Kids field

I'm thinking Thursday also.

Very much doubt it would be a weekend (FA CUP FINAL AH!), or even as an ego stance to just say they announced the (full) lineup the same month as the festival as it is June on Monday, would even for a stretch for Glastonbury.

But then again, MEAVIS said 1st June all year didn't he, local press stated it just after last years event? and didn't he say 1st June again at the V&A?

...now i'm just confused

:sarcastic:

He originally said 1st June was when we'd find out the headliners. At the V+A he said the third headliner would be 1st June, but then obviously leaked and was announced early. Obviously it's possible The Who and Weller were coming with the full lineup on 1st June and the rest is still coming on that day.

The wording used by Leftfield/Bragg about Glastonbury announcing the Leftfield Stage this week made it sound like it'd be coming as part of a big announcement, though.

Did Metallica get a stand-alone announcement or did they complete the lineup with them? I can't remember...

Maybe every other act's P.R/mgmt team has been told over the last week to six weeks the embargo is 1st June, but obviously The Sun leaked it, which would make sense...

sod it i'm switching camps - announcement on Monday

    • A question has crossed my (questionable) mind;   Has the size of the Green Fields remained the same as other areas have expanded / been added on to, since say, 2014 (the last time that I attended)? Are they 'lost' within, or well attended?    That's actually two questions. The second one just slipped in at the end by taking advantage of my lack of means to stop it.
    • I'd say the same about Kylie.    Annie would be awesome, Duran not so much, and on the issue of them wanting a beanie slot, that probably rules out a fair few others who I think would fit the bill very well... and are legitimately more entitled to a headline, and/or too expensive.   Was just about to suggest Chaka Khan, but see @Gnomicide has beat me to it!    What about someone like Bryan Ferry?
    • It's certainly gone more that way, but then they went completely in the opposite direction and had Cat Stevens.
    • Chaka can, or Chaka can't?
    • TVOD are playing Blue Basement in London 2/9 with a complete EOTR/Psych Fest shaped hole before their next gig in Lyon on 8/9. Well received in the Big Top last year, reckon they're nailed on for a secret set in the Tipi.
