Initially thought it looked pretty weak after seeing the top few rows of each day but then when you give it a proper look over there is a fair amount of great stuff further down the lineup imo. As is increasingly the case with Coachella/all major U.S. festivals, not one for the rock or indie heads and Rage would’ve been a strange headliner to have topping it tbh, but if you’re in to hip hop, electronic and pop then there’s loads to get your teeth stuck in to.

Agreed some good stuff hidden in the smaller fonts

The gut working overtime ?

Digested

If I was going, from the initial poster my must sees would be…

Harry Styles, Pheobe Bridgers, Baby Keem, Carly Rae Jepsen, Billie Eilish, Megan Thee Stallion, Danny Elfman, Stromae, Caroline Polachek, 100 gecs, Pabllo Vittar, Rina Sawayama, Japanese Breakfast, Ye, Doja Cat, Run The Jewels, Maneskin, FINNEAS, Dave, Kim Petras, beeabadoobee (and maybe Swedish House Mafia tick them off a list).

A good solid list and a good time for sure.

I mean great … but must sees from a poster we haven’t had ? Isn’t it worth just waiting for the poster ?

You think it looks crap then realise they get bridgers, carly rae, daphni and amyl on one day

the sunday is awful though.

look how low hot chip are!

Yard act have squeezed on at the very bottom, they must have insanely good connections

Dave another act thats in a tiny font but headlines over here - crazy. I Wonder how it looks from the US view of actually knowing half the acts

I am envious at what sort of shit Ye has planned. He will steal the show.

Yeah, regardless of the rest of the lineup, that Kanye set is the one that’s gonna have all eyes on it. His last Coachella set is one of the GOATs so fingers crossed he can make this one really special. That Larry Hoover thing proved that he’s still got it when he really wants it, and that his back catalogue is just insanely good.

There is going to be a huge aspect of begging Kim back but the rest of it will be cool.

He’s going to bring out Travis isn’t he?

Just wait when he does Sunday Service weekend 1 and youll be wondering why youre watching. Then all of Donda weekend 2 and youll realize the trap that has been laid.  These are the moments that make me glad Ive gotten to see him plenty since 2005 and am not looking at him as a bucket list artist.

I'm going. I'll be aiming to see:

SHM / Harry / Phoebe Bridgers / King Gizzard / Snoh Aalegra / Madeon / IDLES / Carly Rae Jepsen / Spiritualized / Daphni / BBNG / the Avalanches / Tokimonsta / Arooj Aftab / Logic1000 / Ela Minus / Jayda G

Flume / Megan thee Stallion / 21 Savage / Stromae / Caribou / Caroline Polachek / Turnstile / Freddie Gibbs & Madlib / Hot Chip / DJ Koze / Steve Lacy / Floating Points / Nilüfer Yanya + probably Disclosure if there's no clash

Kanye / Fatboy Slim / Måneskin / Vince Staples / Dave / Blessed Honey b2b / beabadobee / Channel Tres / Molchat Doma / Eyedress / Altin Gün + maybe Jamie xx if I’m bored

I’m jealous I would love to go.

The thing is Coachella does require a certain level of US hip hop knowledge I find. So that’s why a lot of brits look at it sometimes and get confused.

Also they lean heavily into the Latin America market and book non-English speaking acts… which is sort of like what Glastonbury does with West Holts etc. Same difference.

What I do like about Coachella and have a bit of admiration for is they are very confident giving up and coming artists very prominent slots. It may be just to cash in on new fads, but you can hardly say they have their top positions as far away prospects. They’ve also got a very good eye for who is going to be big in a few years time. It gives goers a great opportunity to catch tomorrows headliners in a somewhat underdeveloped form.

They gave Billie a top billing before her debut dropped!

I looked straight into plane tickets and resale Coachella passes, can't swing it unfortunately but if it's worth doing anyone for, it's Ye. The Sunday Service set was incredible, I remember watching it live.

Friday and Sunday are the stronger one's for me, Saturday is very dull though.

Presuming SHM close after Harry Styles, Friday probably has the edge.

Just generally not the festival for me anymore.

Think I'd actually attend Primavera Sound over it.

    • I agree that we’ll never really know up until the concert happens (and even then we still may not know) but I think promoters are having to come up with new tactics to combat ‘blue dot fever’ (already hating that phrase!) and trying to imply that concerts are selling better than they actually are / available tickets are in short supply is definitely one of them.    To add though, it is quite common at the O2 Arena for the rear blocks to not go on sale (and then remain closed for the concert and covered over to hide the empty seats). And equally common for standing to sell out first, then side/lower tier seating next and rear/upper tier seating last.    Jungle’s two concerts at the O2 are a good comparison for this - for their 1st (announced) date, all blocks are on sale and seats in all sections remain unsold, whereas for their 2nd date, the rear blocks are greyed out (more so than for Muse) and equally lots of seats remain unsold in the blue blocks. Standing for both concerts are showing as sold out.
    • MGK can and should headline. I was at one of his shows earlier in the year as a very casual fan, and there were a lot of alt people there. The show was actually class and he completely won me over. Anyone who opposes him headlining is just a gatekeeper imo, we need to move with the times.
    • Ultimately Glasto is just part of the festival circuit, however special we may think it is. The vast majority of its headliners have done many others
    • From Magyar’s FB:   ”Our country's energy and water supply is stable. As of today, voluntary consumption reduction is no longer necessary. The turbine at the Paks power plant is generating stably. Thanks to precipitation in Austria, the water level of the Danube will temporarily rise by 20–30 centimeters. Thank you, Hungary, for the unprecedented national unity shown in recent days! We have much to be proud of, and much to carry forward into the period ahead.”
    • I hope it stays under £400.  A lot of us aren't flush with cash.  Charities are great but do they need £1 mil (I jest)
