Just given him a blast whilst down the gym (Fitness thread?). Giving Planet Perfecto vibes to my old ears. A bit cheesy, but this would certainly work in a certain time and place.

The sets I’ve listened too have just the right amount of donk on them that it brings back the Tidy trax vibes and could see me dust off the old glow sticks and pull out the funky chicken dance moves on the farm.

He seems to be just about the right side of cheese and techy, so if the venue and time were right, this could be a lot of fun. If he plays! I'm not a massive fan of straight up trance, especially with a lot of vocal samples etc, but a good, grimy tech trance set would be great, given that GFL have seemingly binned off psytrance 😔

KI/KI's set on The Levels was mostly trance, and because she knows how to go hard, it was ace. She was trancey on her b2b tracks with HAAi on the Dragonfly too.

@SouthbanKen - it's a glorious tradition of this, the thread of threads™️, that all sorts of genre cognoscenti make themselves available for recs, as the dance area posters drop. It's almost as exciting as the festival itself.

He's does something called Alt1 "anything goes" which is a decent mix genre wise so could fit on a number of stages.

Ben Hemsley played Levels last year as well, and it was unfortunately a bit dead in there but it was great to experience some trance at Glastonbury.

Doubt it will ever happen but the likes of Bryan Kearney, Will Atkinson and Hannah Laing on Arcadia would be the pinnacle for me.

Has anyone been to see anything at Burgess Park before, very tempted to do the Underworld show but am worried the sound will be awful and it will just be a disappointment compared to the AP show last year

Only been to Lambeth County Fair (which has a big reggae stage) but that’s free and in the daytime so wasn’t being too sceptical. I generally find festivals/events in residential areas to be a bit low on volume

Thoughts on Silver Hayes?

Amelie Lens on LH Friday night.

Haai on Levels Saturday

Modeselektor Levels Saturday

All of above look good, plus Koven.

The old skool garage and DnB on levels on Friday is a line up i could f**k with but doubt it will pull me away from LHC Camelphat / FBS / Amelie Lends for too long.

Confidence Man B2B with Job Jobse would be good on Thursday too but expect it to be too rammed.

Just spotted a little Sunday SHERELLE set on Firmly Rooted that would hit nice if it lands after the Prodigy for a Sunday night closer.

Won't be attempting levels on Thursday but its objectively fantastic. Never got to go to Assembly last year so quite happy its delivered another fantastic lineup! Friday LHC also has some massive names - will be a big draw.

Mentioned it in the SH thread, but....

Great line up, but feels pretty samey to the past few years.

SH on the main 2 has never been where anything super exciting gets booked to be fair. Need it to soak up crowds a bit and let smaller venues book interesting stuff.

A lot of the dance areas are often quite samey i find, theres good choice but a LOT of repeat bookings simply because theres so many stages to fill and the djs love playing

So.. I ask this question every year 😅

Usually get some good recommendations. I'm quite into my trance music, but don't know much in the way of new stuff/names on the lineups. Can any one make any recommendations from the SH lineup?

Many thanks

Sadly Danielle Moore died last year so I'm interested to see how this DJ set goes but should ensure a good Thursday night boogie (assuming it's a nightime set).

why would you put teletech on the sunday. makes no sense

Yeah, that's interesting programming. But then, I don't think they necessarily factor that many people have burned all their matches by 3am on the Monday morning. I'm not much of a fan of the likes of Azyr and co., but I fully expect still to be hard at it somewhere in the SEC at that point!

Anyone need a ticket for Leftfield at Brixton on Friday 30th May? Booked a long weekend in Helsinki with my wife not realising it clashed. I'll just be looking for what I paid. Have put it up for resale on Ticketmaster but can cancel if anyone here wants it.

Lambeth Country Show is in Brockwell Park, not Burgess…

Well...

I have to admit to being a little disappointed at the Silver Hayes line-up, but I think it's very much developing its own profile now. Across the venues, I think it's got a fairly consistent profile, catering for proper ravers in the artists its scheduling, especially in the day parties. Unfortunately, for me, the ones who I'd be interested in tend to be in those day parties - Amaliah, Sedef Adasï, CCL etc - and I just don't really dance in the day as I'm busy seeing bands and saving that precious, amazing dance time for the dark and the dawn.

Assembly is particularly frustrating this year! Radioactive Man and Roza Terenzi on the Thursday could be great, if their sets times are good (laaaate, please!) and it's not a ridiculous wait to get in. I went on the Thursday last year, and the venue is pretty good. Standout for Assembly is Davey Harvey b2b Ivan Smagghe, which should be all manner of acid, bleepy wonder. We'll see how that might fit in with where else I want to be on site on the Friday night.

Levels - Adiel on the Thursday would be good, as might Marie Davidson, but with Levels such a magnet on the Thursday now, it might be tricky to drag pals there! Some of the queues last year (for, frankly, dross!) were off the scale stupid. Add to that the AHs that queue jump and, well, y'know...

Saying that, although I never really thought I'd ever say "I might go and watch Romy DJ...", a set with HAAi could be nice and trancey. But, I'm unlikely to commit to getting into The Levels on a Saturday night for just one set, so It's likely I'll be in the SEC, especially as Saturday Night is Camp Rave Night when I am often invited to curate the programme! This is, of course, assuming that Saturday is not a techno line-up on the Dragonfly, as its tends to be Friday.

Lonely Hearts Club - obviously Amelie is the standout here, but that Friday line-up is hardly the Böhmer > Cooper > Hauff > Avery run of a couple of years ago. And everyone will, inexplicably, be there for Norm!

In non-dance, Emma-Jean Thackray is a genius, and her new album drops in three weeks. If there's no greater clashing pull elsewhere, I expect to watch a daytime LHC band for the first time!

So, a bit light for this veteran, but I do understand what SH are doing. And, if you're a daytime party person, there's a lot of fun to be had here. Though I'll warrant you're more than likely to be no older than late twenties at the oldest. Oh, if only...

Ben x

    • 13th Primavera (Thursday was definitely making me feel like this was the cursed year).  Blood Orange was such a party by the end of their set but we all knew that rain storm was approaching.  So gutted Massive Attack didn't play after the false hope of a new rescheduling, especially knowing that Elizabeth Fraser & Horace Andy were backstage with them!  Managed a bit of Melt Banana but was just so over the weather by that point.   Friday was awesome, Rilo Kiley were so much fun.  Never big the biggest Cure fan but made the effort for them & Robert Smith sounds like he did back in the 80s.  PinkPantheress & Viagra Boys were also great.   The highlight for me was Sudan Archives on the Saturday, she was stunning & with the Olivia Rodrigo surprise set too it made up for the Thursday sh*t show.  Dijon & Knocked Loose also superb.   Shoutout to Cardiacs on the Tuesday too, they were so LOUD, played a storming set.
    • OK, never mind, I'll take normal Nine Inch Nails.
    • Probably my least favourite of the five editions I've been to, but still plenty good enough for me to go again. Weirdly, I was just totally running out of stamina a lot earlier into the night than I remember happening in the past. I feel like I missed a lot of the weirder sets on the smaller stages as I was just totally cooked. Not Primavera's fault, obviously. Maybe I'm just getting old - or maybe I need to pace my drinking better...   Anyway - is David Byrne a realistic get for next year? Certainly hoping so.
    • watching clips of the cure in Barcelona, wow 2 hours 25 minute set. That's gonna be tough on the Sunday but can't bloody wait for it
