The Romy b2b Haai set Saturday on the Levels might lean that way a bit. Could be the high energy euphoric sound you're looking for

Yes - thanks for that - one that I had initially noted and subsequently forgot about. I was wondering if you were planning on heading to Prodigy on the Sunday or if you were gonna do something different?

Well, I'm hoping my shift doesn't clash, as The Prodigy is this year's only must-see for me. In 2009 I chose Blur over the lads (which was still the right call) as I thought I'd get a chance another time (and Blur was a top 3 all timer). How wrong I was. Who'd have thought it would be 16 years between Glastonbury appearances?! So, with luck, yeah, I'll be in the mixer.

A bit more digging has uncovered:

Eli Brown (Glade Dome) - more trance than tech-trance, but he plays pretty hard and can slip into a bit of a psy vibe too.

Tommy Holohan (Glade Dome) - more Hard Dance, but tempo-wise might interest trance fans.

Ben

Would love to hear some proper trance at this years festival. I gave Eli Brown a search and came up with his State of Trance set in Rotterdam earlier this year. Not sure that's what I'm looking for tbh but thanks for the heads up mate.

What does a Daphni set look like?

Is it Caribou tracks mixed with other tunes? Or something completely different?

Never managed to catch him

Daphni has their own releases, so quite a similar vibe to a Caribou Dj set. But without any of the Caribou pressure, I imagine to play certain songs or sounds.

very eclectic the time's i've seen him as daphni, lotsa deep cuts, his daphni tunes and usually ended up a bit harder/darker electronic than the caribou output. Don't recall him playing many caribou tunes (if any) during those sets.

to give an idea, also done a very good b2b with jamie xx on boiler room back in the very early days of boiler room i'd recommend checking out too. Can tell you seeing him B2B with four tet for a 3 hour set at hideout in 2012 still easily in the top 3 sets i've every been at live.

Max Cooper has confirmed he is Saturday Glade & Sunday in the sticks.

28 June - Glastonbury, Glade  (Live A/V) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

29 June - Glastonbury, Woodsies (Ambient Set) 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Hope I can catch the ambient set, I suspect I'll be working for the Glade one

We like a lot of the same stuff and I love a Daphni set. Always a lot of fun. Fond memories of him whipping out Babycakes at Warehouse Project 2019 and the crowd going absolutely wild.

His closing set on Levels 2023 was my favourite of the weekend.

As usual some great names in there. Shame I'm yet to have the "best" time at San Remo.

Always missing something, usually a chill & friendly crowd vibe.

💯 this. I have vowed never to go in there again, as it's just so, so different from the other dance areas. The only one similar was when Love Bullets was in the Glade! But, you can't deny it, they get some stellar bookings.

Avery b2b KLO...will my vow be kept...?

I left Paul McCartney early to see Jopkins and then Avery. And pretty much hated every minute of it! The beginning of a peak dance night and I'm being constantly hit on the head by an inflatable flamingo by people too off their tits to enjoy anything, and So. Much. Talking.

I'm happy to accept that it's a me problem, but, I'm sad to say, San Remo just isn't for me.

I largely fall into the same camp of thinking….

It’s just not for me, the vibe is terrible, the people etc

However, we had a brilliant time there last year watching Ross From Friends

One of the best sets I’ve seen at Glasto

I reckon we’ll try and get there for HAAI and JJ

Perfectly summarised, Ben. Hard to criticise the lineup but as a general experience it's a real outlier within the festival.

I can't quite put my finger on exactly why it feels so different. The closest experience I liken it to is some of my less enjoyable club experiences in London. Just a bit "moody" or up-tight, I suppose. I love the concept, but for my liking, the vibe is off and it would take a stellar act to get me back in there for any length of time, which is a shame. I wonder if they moved it to Silver Hayes or the SEC it would feel different? Like you say Ben, it's my problem, not theirs. It's clearly hugely successful in its current location/format.

Actually, I've always thought there's scope for a non-electronica late-night space along that stretch.

is there a way of changing the vibe ? because the vibe is good across the majority of the site , same acts play elsewhere

There could be numerous factors. Certain drugs often have an influence. Music policy, too. The area organiser/promoter can steer the experience in a certain direction if they want. Location could be a factor. Throw those all into the mix and you get a less enjoyable vibe for some

    • Well when you chuck 150 predictions put somethings gotta stick 😜   When you have GC or Avril as options to sub Blink, Turnstile wouldn't be a good option at all. Put them under a heavier headliner.   The thought that three days grace will headline avalanche is pretty laughable with the slots they are getting this year at fests. They were class at RIP     On am overall side note, Bruce slipped on last night see you next year before the encore!   Also Maiden smashed it!
    • Assuming nobody knows she’s playing before the main sale, it wouldn’t be that bad. There’d still be plenty of Swifties for you to sneer at but it wouldn’t be because they’ve infiltrated the sale, it would be because she’s just that popular.
    • I just saw Rock am Ring in Germany did a video announcing blink-182 will be playing it next year during this year's festival there.   We talked about when Glastonbury announces it's first headline act but that would be different if they announced a 2028 headliner during next year's event.
