Care to elaborate on that to a first timer? It was probably the lineup I was looking forward to the most in terms of DJs based on past lineups, but have read a few similar comments now in various threads.

It’s full of people who like to stand around and be seen whilst taking far too much coke, only place I’ve ever felt a slightly unfriendly vibe at Glastonbury (I have also once had a great Thursday  afternoon in there when it was the Beat Hotel)

if anyone's interested, Optimo are back on the farm - two sets apparently ( Friday and Saturday), unsure where though

stonebridge a very safe bet (may have heard it somewhere, can't remember!)

I'd expect orbital's setlist to be similar to their drumsheds show in november

@maelzoidmade this with the help of Morgan Freeman. Hope it’s helpful. Script by @The Nal (edit- now added)

The Nal: Beat Hotel/San Remo still created/creates a tacky pissed up in the central square in Torremolinos type vibe. Outside anyway. Packs of wannabe Love Island goblins stood on the sign outside high on cheap coke wearing looky looky ray bans saying dodgy sh*t to women with a slight aggression towards any blokes they dont know who walk by. All the while creating piles of litter.

I've always found Beat Hotel and San Remo a touch moody at times. Never aggy, just a bit moody. Could be the drug of choice, could be the attitude of the clientele. Feels like many of the experiences I've had in some London clubs over the years. Still enjoyable but not as friendly an atmosphere as elsewhere.

But it's nothing like Love Bullets was that one year. The only time I've ever seen a full scale police raid at Glastonbury, across an entire field. That area was awful. It even managed to make the Elrow takeover feel dark.

I didn't go to the festival last year but I remember seeing a spreadsheet here with genres, links to key sets, etc - just wondering if there's anything similar this year as I actually have a ticket?

10 years ago I was a student and had plenty of time to keep up with current artists, releases, etc and knew a hefty amount of the names on the lineup. Now, not so much, so could do with some research material!

If people want one made for all the electronic stages let me know!

That would be awesome!

😄 Brilliant. Or at least it would be brilliant if it wasn't delivering news I didn't want to get. Was banking on this being a stage I'd spend a lot of time at but not sure I'll fit in by the sounds of the crowd.

For me he's a real DJ's DJ. Loves the craft of creating a set and as a producer he has made some fantastic stuff.

His set with Richard Fearless on Glade last year was also great, though it suffered a little bit from being on the Thursday when less was going on - so there were a lot of people just there so that they were somewhere. But their selections were wonderful.

After foolishly leaving his LH set early, as lamented above, I'll be looking to see him again this year. Hope he's playing elsewhere over the weekend too, as the sound on the new big Glade is, for me, only 'ok'.

So team…

Who are your must sees from the Glade and Shangri La drops?

I'm Team @GrumpyRaver!

I think Daniel Avery is the only must-see for me, though (a) I'd forego that if he was playing somewhere else and (b) if Effy gets a good slot then she could be really good through the Glade Dome rig.

Hmmm. It's a funny old place, for me. I went to the Beat Hotel only a couple of times, in the daytime, and it was...odd. I told myself that it's just not for me and I wouldn't be bothering it again.

Then, in 2022, I left my entire gang watching McCartney as I legged it to San Remo to make sure I was there for the start of Jon Hopkins. I'm glad I went. Because it confirmed for me beyond all possible doubt that I will never go in there again!!

1. It's too light, at night. I don't know what kind of vibe they're trying to create in there, but it's not the sort of club atmosphere that this raver likes.
2. The people were farkin' horrible! The vast majority did not seem to be there to dance, but were just there to be somewhere. It was the most discourteous crowd I've ever been in, with people turning around and whacking you with their backpacks, with zero awareness or consideration for anyone around them. There was SO much talking, you could barely hear JH over the mediocre sound system.

As @Supernintendo Chalmers suggested, defo the wrong type/quality of drugs in there!

I'm sure it's more a me issue than necessarily the place, but twice bitten, twice shy for me. Saying all of that, I quite like all the people crowded on the structure outside as I walk to and from Woodsies in the daytime!

    • Would you decide to go once more I recommend to queu up at the ‘official’ freenow taxi line ( 5 min walk from the main gate). It might take 15 min or so but they are not ripping you off. Even at 3 or 4 in the night it costed us about 25eur to the city center.
    • How do you mean? Better as a hotel/ festival combo?   I've done rock am ring at both sites.....unpopular opinion I much preferred the mending site and really didn't like the long and narrow main stage at RaR.
    • Yesterday was another brilliant day of music for me. Some highlights:  My Bloody Valentine - absolutely loved it! Maybe my main festival highlight. I felt submerged in the music with all the layers and distortion. It becomes hypnotic almost as it progresses. Not as loud as some thought it might be, but it didn’t need to be. The visuals added a lot too. During the noise part of You Made me Realise, I was basically in a trance staring at the visual tunnel or whatever it was on screen. Amazing experience. Little Simz - as she mentioned at the start, you’re guaranteed a good time with her. Great performance just like in 2022. Zero complaints. The little DJ section wasn't something I expected but was cool. Kneecap - I had a blast but at this point in the night I was at my most intoxicated let's say, so I don’t remember it as clearly as I'd have liked to!    The xx - The sound for this was perfectly balanced (at least where I was) and the band were great. Lots of talkers, but with the crowd size and being kind of far back, it's to be expected. Intro was one of my favourite moments this year. Big Thief - really good live performers. The lead singer has a lovely voice. This was a nice chill way to kick off the mordor gigs for me.
    • I've been attending Primavera every year since my first one in 2017 & it's always been my favourite week of the year, but I think things have changed.   Firstly, the site just feels too busy in this current set-up. I'm sure it was a lot easier back in 2017-19 to get between the stages & then a good spot for the next one, but now you increasingly have to sacrifice parts of a set or miss them out completely to plan for later on. I wish we still had the Bits area over the bridge to spread everyone out.   But the main issue is the talking, it's always been here but this year it's been relentless & I just can't tolerate it any more. It's at every stage, and everywhere from the front to the back, there is no escape. Not focusing on nationalities, but a major dynamic now seems to be groups of people who are only focusing on their own good time & aren't interested if this affects anyone else. It seems essential that all members of the group are together at the same time, so it's people making telephone calls, people on shoulders waving phone torches, people barging through. It's alright, I'm only trying to watch The Cure here.   I will have a year away to think about it. I thought might give up completely but yesterday was a bit of a classic day after two unenjoyable ones. Adding Olivia Rodrigo to Baxter Dury, Gelli Haha, The XX, Gorillaz & Kneecap shows how good it can be, but as with everything, it's always the people that have the biggest impact.
