I still think heart attacks his best. Although possibly cos that's on at the minute. And just finished small change. This may be prejudicing my suggestions but I don't think so.

I think heart attack was my first Waits album, but I hardly ever listen to it now. You've persuaded me to give it another spin tomorrow.

The Cure aren't on the Menu, Sir.

Surely the chef can put something together? After all, we've had The Cure so many times in the past.

Fuck me that's some faith you've placed in a senile old fools Internet post!!

You familiar with waits at all? If not you could be in for an expensive ride after that takes a hold of you.

Yeah perhaps! Not really familiar with Tom Waits and am always open to suggestions and I was sold. Listening to Heartattack and Vine currently, Saving All My Love is a cracker. Pulp, Suede, The Verve etc all music I grew up listening to and I do struggle to get into anyone past the 2000's so have decided to work backwards instead.

I tried listening to Kanye this afternoon, in the name of science. At least I tried.

I've been listening to Kanye all weekend (admittedly I did like his music before the announcement, regardless of how much of a lunatic he is). His first two albums are probably what you'd want to listen to, and his fifth album My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy is one of the best albums ever recorded.

But, again, the man is a lunatic.

Agreed. think Graduation was a good album in all fairness.

Ive also been doing this over the weekend. Over on the Kayne thread I was recommended My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy. To my complete surprise, I'm actually enjoying some of it! And I've never been enticed by this genre before.

MInd you, last year I bought Funeral to try and get into Arcade Fire (which is more my genre), but after many many listens I struggled to embrace it's appeal.

No love for 'the hreat of saturday night'? Worth it for 'san diego serenade' alone. I'm not a fan of much post swordfishtrombones, really.

I'm a big, ugly 51 year old and San Diego Serenade makes me cry every time.

    • Proper special gig tonight. They won't mean much to most people, but The Dogs D'Amour were one of the most significant bands of my youth.   Tyla, yer main man of said band, was playing in Birkenhead tonight. Not many there, but it was going fine. Then he decided he didn't like the smoke and the flashing lights so suggested moving the gig to the beer garden. Off we all went, and it was magical. Like having your favourite musician play in your garden. I absolutely loved it.   Before:     After:
