Emily: "Chris. I need a massive favour."

Chris: "Sure, you know I'll do what I can."

Emily: "We have a big headliner this year but he's temperamental and if he leaks he'll likely cancel. We'd like to use Coldplay as a cover to throw journos off the scent."

Chris: "I'm not sure - we can't be publicly aligned to a festival we're not playing."

Emily: "We won't release your name publicly, we'll leak it to sources - you know, eFestivals etc."

Chris: "That sounds ok"

Emily: "And you know we love you. Let's set something up for 2016 or 2018. We definitely want you back."

Chris: "Sure thing, go for it."

Jesus, this is worse than One Direction fan-fiction.

Heh I posted something v similar to this week's back. Neil G is a slippery eel.

Nope because emily just dropped a huge hint florence is headlining, and she said HEADLINING :P so put them blur straws away

I didn't mention Florence.

I've accepted she is doing it and therefore I'll be elsewhere.

But one night at the Pyramid wouldn't go amiss and if the third headliner is definitely Coldplay that's not going to happen

I wonder if there is anychance Neil isn't correct on Coldplay? I know he is TBC but I wouldn't to hear if he has any thoughts on whether it could potentially be wrong

there's always a chance he could be wrong - there have been the odd one or two TBCs in the past that have proven to be wrong (Pet Shop Boys last year, for instance). but for him to put a headliner as a TBC and it be wrong would be slightly damming of him. he must've had some solid info for him to go all the way to TBC and not just SR

Neil watch this you are going to have a huge laugh :D

"We don't know who feeds all these rumours of who's headlining"

She mentions florence being big enough to headline and talks about her a bit. I would think that means she's not been asked for this year. Seen as she avoids speaking about booked headliners near the beginning of video.

Also adds more weight to Coldplay.

They're nowhere near big enough to sub the pyramid. Half the attendees wouldn't know who they were

The Black Keys and Elbow are no bigger than Stereophonics were when they finished touring their last album, subbing major festivals and selling out arenas, and it's been where they've been for absolutely years.

They're a big act and would warrant no less than subbing main stages.

    • My wife works for a music company, they have an allocation already.  They run a ballot for it early next year.
    • This is my guess too.    2028 festival breaks the £400 barrier.
    • Yeah I did spot that AXS had more available for the O2 shows Muse are doing, though I think that comes with the territory of AXS now being the venue's primary ticket selling platform.    My instinct remains they'll probably still play to a big crowd on the night - sales were similarly slow in 2023 but videos of those gigs showed the venue looking pretty much full. Equally it probably would be sold out if the pricing was even just slightly less ridiculous. Shave up to £50 off some of these categories and I think that would've got people to go with it.
    • Some are definitely already there with that and with another round of inflation looking like it's on the way, it certainly locks that in. And I say that as someone who also isn't willing to break the £100 marker.
