How was Macca CG? He still got the pipes?

Now this surprised me. PIPES INTACT.

He sounded fabulous, to the extent that I was wondering whether there was maybe some digital trickery going on. It was obviously a bit lower than 4 decades ago and sometimes his vocals didn't sound quite 'in the room' and there were a couple of wobbles on things like Maybe I'm Amazed, but on the whole it was as good as he's sounded in since forever. After a while I just stopped trying to figure out what was going on and just enjoyed the show.

So anyone repeating the 'his voice is gone' observation is gonna neeed to change the programme.

Nice one. A beast of a setlist as well there, 40 songs!! He mightn't be as active but he's still putting on a show it seems.

Yep, really annoying that they're shunning the likes of Stacked Actors and Hey, Johnny Park! for several covers.

On the plus side, they played Big Me.

No breakout or I'll stick around either

opening with Everlong is a pretty ballsy move. that'd be a great start to a Glastonbury set

agree about there being too many covers - especially as they're now only playing Learn To Fly from There Is Nothing Left To Lose. not too fussed on the inclusion of Long Road To Ruin and But, Honestly either. much prefer something from an earlier album (I'll Stick Around, Hey, Johnny Park!, Generator, Stacked Actors etc)

Is that what you got 2.5 hours? Seeing them in manchester on Wednesday so have avoided watching the big weekend highlights etc.

For Manchester they are down for 8-30 start 10-30 curfew so 120 minutes.

How much was a beer tonight?

Was 4.50 a pint , were on stage from 8.30 to 11

FATM headlining over The Who I'll agree with, regardless of the fact I'm happy with them as I haven't seen them. Flo would have been new and fresh.

Totally agree. The festival has become focused on huge headliners - it used to Make huge headliners

To me headliners are bands that all the other bands further down the bill aspire to be like. I don't feel someone like Florence is quite there. Having said that arctic monkeys after just 2 albums I enjoyed the set but just felt to soon. Anyway what do I know

Yeah the cover set is daft. No room for that from a band with such a colossal back catalogue. I guess it's just the gimmick for the Sonic Highways tour.

Frankly, if the choice happened to be between hearing three covers or another three of the Sonic Highways tracks I'd opt for the former every day of the week!

    • The wording on EOTR's IG Story is "Huw has a little secret to share"...
    • exactly. give them mordor slot when I have other alternatives, not Wednesday
    • Absolutely love her record, System. Definitely an album that rewards a bit of commitment.   She's right on my must-see list. Hoping she's in the Walled Garden, as I think her sound might be a bit muddy if she's early-ish in Far Out.   Ben
    • Same here, I kept trying to go on A View From My Seat to see if each block was worth it. So vague!
    • Ok, I’ve had time to process the experience now, so here is my review.   The good Barcelona - what a beautiful place! What lovely people! The city was like another headliner. Stayed in El Poblenou, and the bars, cafes and restaurants were perfect. Avalanches - Absolutely spectacular, euphoric set. Fantastic stage. Possibly enhanced by substances that I timed right, for a change. Added bonus that I don’t really remember the queue. The Cure - I’ve been a fan for 34 years, and never got round to seeing them, so this was a dream come true. The XX - The sound was exceptional. The lights and setlist perfect, giving each member their moment. Was really loud where I was standing (between the front and the sound desk), but i didn’t notice any chatters - even during the quieter moments. Also loved Men I Trust, .bd. , Big Thief, NewDad and Gorillaz. The food within Parc Del Fòrum was also a lot better than I was expecting.   The bad People talking non-stop throughout some of the sets, and shouting to be heard over the music. I had to move 3 times during Wet Leg just to be able to hear the band over the crowd. It’s probably an age thing, but I just don’t understand it. You’ve paid how much to watch these acts, and now you’re standing with your back to the stage, missing the music and ruining the experience for everyone else? Odd behaviour.   The weather apocalypse on Thursday. I genuinely thought I would be able to tough it out. I couldn’t. Left after Geese. The lack of communication from Primavera didn’t help.   Whilst it was lovely to be by the sea, and the sunsets were very pretty, the site is a bit…concrete-y, isn’t it? I kind of longed for some grass and trees. Often found ourselves standing on the steps by the Adidas yard by some bamboo. This was probably a subconscious need for some nature. The fact that some of the nature included cockroaches did not negatively affect the experience.   My daughter, for running away when she saw the drug dogs in the queue on Thursday, meaning that I lost her for the whole evening. She hid her stash under a bench, and it miraculously survived the storms.   Also, can someone explain the point in having a wristband, when you still have to show your ticket every time you enter and leave the site?   Finally, I would like to nominate myself as one of the bad things about this year’s Primabera. I should have done Primavera a lot better. It was my first one, so I’m still learning, but I think I left too early on the Thursday. Left after the Cure on Friday, so I would be full of energy on Saturday, and then barely made it to the end of Gorillaz anyway, meaning I missed Overmono, Skrillex, Skullcrusher, Kneecap, and a few more I would have liked to see.   All in all Amazing lineup. Decent food options. Cupra and Cupra Pulse stages were very impressive. Weather was perfect for 3 out of the 4 days i attended.   It was always likely to be a ‘one and done’ for me, but we had a blast, even if I am starting to get too old for all this.
