Libertines subbed by Noel.

Pretty naff headliner, so a "great penultimate" makes it less weak, Carl loves the festival so would probably be happy to step in, Libs not advertised as exclusive by R&L (which they surely would if they were exclusive), Carl's sister told someone on here they were playing, have other shows to sell, are a band.

But then they also said they're not playing. Although this was before the headliner was supposedly booked.

I don't actually see it being them, but I don't see it being anyone at all. Noel is the one I'm most confident in being one of the two, but I think he'd be the sub.

My thoughts exactly.

Great post.

Assuming we're ruling out Blur due to the repeated denials, Madonna due to her not being a band, Fleetwood Mac due to greed and Macca due to the slow trickle of US dates, how about either Noel, The Libertines or The Strokes with Swift as sub? Any of those three acts would seem a tad underwhelming (however established or deserving of the slot they are) but with Swift announced as sub at the same time it strengthens it all somewhat.

This sounds like some slightly logical thinking, this is not the thread for it!

I read this thread for wild rumours like AC/DC playing two days at opposite ends of the country in a single day!

I only know they're not announced because they have other shows.

I don't know where those shows are, when those shows are, or how many tickets might have been sold for those other shows.

I only know that they have other shows.

This means the Sunday headliner is either an act that already has shows that have tickets remaining, or has shows yet to announce that have a degree of doubt over the ability to sell out.

So it ain't Floyd, Zeppelin or any other act which would sell out however many shows they chose to do....

Unless it's all a diversionary tactic....after all the last person you tell would be Neil...wouldn't it

You like bearded women? Fair enough, each to their own, I won't judge you.

What has that got to do with your mother asking for heroin?

(I never specified what 'it' was, nor did I say she was asking me for it. You jumped the gun, but your reply has lead me to believe that maybe your mother is a 'sex worker'... Each to their own)

Ps, did your mother win the Eurovision Song Contest last year?

    • Another one from Sheffield DocFest this weekend, Earth Wind & Fire docu, directed by Questlove. Sensational archive footage, contributions from band members, family, plus a lot of very big fans (Stevie, Lionel, Flea, the Obamas) and a warts n all assessment of the genius / flawed human being that was Maurice White. Also, I never realised he started out as a jazz drummer with Ramsay Lewis. Well worth a watch.
