What happened to the Chris Martin supergroup? Has that been discounted now? I'd say that's still pretty likely going by nobody has any idea who could be headlining.

it was never a 'supergroup' - Emily tweeted that it was in fact two separate acts; a headliner and a sub. as for Chris Martin being involved - christ knows. i think people have discounted that as nonsense, but it may well prove to have some weight. i just can't see how Chris Martin would be involved without it being Coldplay (unless he comes on stage with whoever the act is)

but as has been stated, what with the announcement not coming until June, Dave could well be lying as he's not about to just blurt out 'yeah we are headlining'. so maybe it rules Blur out, or maybe it does absolutely nothing

Let's face it, we won't know for sure until about 9pm on Sunday 28th June.

I'm starting to doubt whether we will find out who the top 2 on Sunday are until June now. They're doing one hell of a job of keeping it secret. Dave's comments mean nowt really though, they could ask anyone from the shortlist and they will all deny they are playing.

How solid is the info about them being booked late? I'm sceptical.

People love a "Prince dropped out last minute so Kasabian got bumped up" type story, and for some reason people like to assume that if a headliner's announce late they must have been booked late. If it's genuine info then fair enough but this does seem like everyone's favourite narrative.

I suppose your enjoyment would depend on a number of factors. I live in London so was swept up in the atmosphere and good feeling that swept through the city. I was also fortunate enough to go to quite a bit of it (athletics, swimming, gymnastics, basketball, football) even the stuff I didn't like from a sporting perspective (not a gymnastics fan myself either) there still a good atmosphere and the feeling of just being at the Olympics was pretty special.

I was very lucky as I worked there as a Gamesmaker outside the Olympic Stadium and I have to say apart from my time volunteering at Glastonbury, it was the best time ever. Was an amazing experience. I'm working at the Rugby World Cup at Sandy Park too so I'm looking forward to that as well.

Any chance that they booked two acts for the top 2 Sunday that both may not be big enough to headline outright?

NGHFB and the Prodigy?

Not the Prodge, ruled out by Liam.

Foals seem plausible for sub.

It's Glastonbury not R&L, plus the Prodigy have said they're not doing it

Considering Blur are out NGHFB are the one I'm banking.

Noel just makes the most sense to me... Has anyone noticed that since he said he was "unlikely" to be there in like February he's gone completely quiet on the whole subject?

Prodigy have played Glastonbury more times than Reading. I don't understand that comment at all.

Pretty much every remaining candidate we can think of has stated they aren't doing it at some point. We can only determine who said it most recently...

Speaking about Prince, Eavis said: "We wanted him to play, and it got to the point where his people were talking to us about him doing it, but before he confirmed he got really upset because he thought we had advertised that he was playing. We hadn't, but with social media, rumours get everywhere, and one of those rumours was that Prince was coming. So he didn't want to do it in the end."

Prince was penciled in.

This year it's more to do with the tba bands possible other shows than them being booked late.

McCartney hasn't been ruled out. ME said it was a British band, he/they have played it before. ME also said its a collaboration that hasn't happened before. Neil thinks whoever it is has tickets to sell (Paul has a UK tour next month).

Ringo has a new record out. McCartney + Ringo headline slot?

Noel has said he would be happy to sub someone 'massive'. He wouldn't think of anyone higher than he does these two.

Just a theory .....

Prodigy have every right to play glastonbury and i'd love it just as much as they would if they played R&L, but you were referring to the idea of two headliners constituting to make up for one bigger headliner which is what R&L do (2013, 2011) , Glastonbury has no need to do that

No, Emily said it isn't a collaboration.

If Noel is subbing and it definitely isn't Blur (not sure I'm buying it not been Blur), I think Noel would be very choosy over who he would sub.

I think there's a lot of acts he would turn his nose up at. Aside from Blur I'm not sure there's many acts he would sub at the moment who could play aside from Stone Roses, Fleetwood Mac or McCartney.

Don't see Noel headlining personally either

Just announced a U.S. gig on the 25th June. Reckon that makes him pretty unlikely.

In 2011 R&L found our Pulp were available after they'd already booked three headliners, so had to then have them co-headline with someone.

In 2013 they offered outright headline spots to both QOTSA and Paramore and both said yes so they had to co-headline. If one of them had said no, the other would have headlined outright.

Neither case was because the acts weren't big enough to headline by themselves.

Edit: And the smallest headliner in 2011 was My Chemical Romance, who didn't co-headline.

Noel has headline slots across the UK this summer, wouldn't be surprised if the whole reason he wasn't approached is because he was asking for a headline spot.

Now things seem to have changed, I can't see him saying no if they called.

Also he's free on the Sunday and hasn't been asked about it for a while so he's front runner in my mind. Can't see them being able to wing the Mac if the main reason they couldn't book them before was money.

I know about that, but it wasn't as clear cut as him "pulling out" in May or something and them scrambling to get anyone that was available.

This year people are talking a lot about how the 3rd headliner was supposedly booked late because somebody pulled out. Wondered if Neil knew how much truth there is to it?

    • Brazil's first half was genuinely dreadful all round, not just the midfield, so they're absolutely not bulletproof. Whether Scotland have the quality to take advantage is a different question.   Tbf, that's as much on Morocco looking good, which I did think was a possibility. They could be a bit annoyed with themselves not to have scored more before Vini's goal tbh.
    • Surely nowadays with so much data analytics available on every division in world football and so much awareness that people aren't suckered in on the basis of a decent World Cup game... right?   Although tbf, from what I saw, Australia's game plan worked very well. But that was as much thanks to Turkey blowing varying opportunities given they created enough chances but couldn't finish, a la what happened with Switzerland against Qatar when they really could and should've won by 3/4 goals.
    • I missed Viagra Boys for a good spot for Gorillaz. Was a nice weekend and festival for me. Would definitely come back, if the line up is right. Get back home safe everyone.
    • The Last Temptation - new Heaven 17 documentary film directed by James Strong. Premiered at Sheffield Docfest this weekend.    I really enjoyed it. Affectionate, insightful, and honest. A nice mix of archival and footage, interviews and clips from the last tour. Martyn and Glenn are like an old married couple.   Plus a snippet of news from the Q&A, Martyn is recording new BEF material, and Phil Oakey has collaborated on the one of tracks. The film shows them meeting in Fagans for the first time in over 35 years.
    • Glad I’ve still got it booked off for my 50th
