A lot of this article points to glastonbury being pink floyd's "one-off" reunion show.

Especially with it being the 40 year anniversary of 'Wish You Were Here', the 30 year anniversary of Live Aid which Michael Eavis/Chris Martin/someone said it was something to do with, and the 10 year anniversary of Live 8, their last performance. Who knows.

why would they want to play glastonbury after the treatment they received in 2008?

Biggest festival in the world and the only one that has real tangible links with charitable organisations? Don't kill the dream russy!

It's really plausible, their last album was about the death of Rick Wright, and wouldn't it be part of his whole 'swan song' for them to play Glastonbury in memory of him, just like he wanted?

Why has Prince been discounted? Is he playing somewhere else? All of this secrecy points towards him for me. Also the June 1st embargo, he's the only artist who's insist on that isn't he?!

no, he doesn't insist on it from what we've seen before, that seems tobe yet another "Prince myth". he has announced gigs months in advance many times before.

he does, however, often like to book or agree to shows with little forewarning, so is often only announced as playing gigs a few days or weeks before they happen.

as for Emily's "band" comment, I suppose if you want to be pedantic, it could be Prince and 3RD Eye Girl, or whatever group he is being billed with recently...

e: of course, Emily said pretty categorically it wasn't him, so it's almost certainly not him.

If anything as a band renowned for holding grudges, I'd say that's more of a stumbling block.

Oh God! Those quotes from Nick are what originally got me so excited before Christmas about Pink Floyd and Glasto, now I have been revisiting them every month or so to see if anything else can be understood from them. It's making me very stressed.

Don't forget this, Nick Mason, 9 October 2014:

"I think you certainly begin to feel that if there's something you've missed doing now's a good time to get on and do it now."

Of course, it is NEVER going to happen. Is it..?

Personally I think Pink Floyd fit the description perfectly, js

If you're genuine, which I've no reason to believe you aren't, then you're the first person I have come across to believe the same as me regarding Glastonbury and Pink Floyd!

I feel like the one eyed bird off Futurama who find another one eyed person for the first time!!!

Michael Eavis/Chris Martin never said the Glastonbury headliner had anything to do with Live Aid. Neil suggested that Michael's comments about the headliner being 2 acts and Chris Martin being involved, might be related to Chris Martin's Global Citizen initiative.

I am leaving the library now to go home and listen to all my Floyd LPs.

I know I sound like a broken record, but am I still a silly fucker for still holding hope it will be Pink Floyd or something related? In my heart of hearts I know the answer :(

I am still very much clutching my straws that are marked "Pink Floyd (possibly reunited with Roger Waters)" :)

OK...not wishing to put a downer on the Floyd thing but Glastonbury coincides with Goodwood Festival of Speed this year...at which the enitre Mason clan including wife Netty and daughters Holly and Chloe are regular visitors and/or competitors.

Seeing as Nick has always said he'd be up for another Floyd show I'm confident should Gilmour and Waters check their egos, Nick would be more than willing to miss a day of Goodwood :P
