Are you offended by others' opinions?

I have to say, this is my first Glastonbury, and reading this forum leads to believe there is an awful lot of muso snobbery. A lot of people being told "you're wrong, I'm right"

I'm genuinely surprised!

There has been a lot of it about this year for some unknown reason. Don't worry about it I'm sure things will be brought back the usual easy going ways of the efests Glastonbury forums by some of the older regular guys n girls.

If this is your Glastonbury don't worry about who's playing. You will love it either way and will probably be in such awe at what a great festival it is you won't even notice who's playing :)

Peace and love !

Theory on the Blur denials. They are not playing or headlining at the moment and the festival are still actively persuing someone else.

However there is an agreement in place that if the festival fails to secure their choice by a certain date (say, 1st June). They'll step in.

Doesnt the Rowntree comment that 'headliners are booked before Christmas' throw the whole thing into disrepute in the knowledge that at least one of them isnt/wasnt?

So, if Blur play they will sub for either the Libs or Noel? :sarcastic:

Are we realistically back to Madonna? She's waiting for her shows to sell before announcing? I hope not.

I had some info that had supposedly surreptitiously come from Mad Donna's 'people', that absolutely ruled her out.

I can'#t remember who it was now who sent me that, tho I have a feeling they're someone with a history of feeding me bits and pieces over the years and those bits and pieces always stacking up.

Don't worry i completely agree. the Festival thank god, isnt representive of some of the people on here. Makes me laugh as the people on here who claim to love glastonbury are the complete opposite of what the festival is about!

Just realised, if there's two acts to be announced for Sunday, "Special Guests" being plural doesn't actually rule out solo acts, does it, seeing as two solo acts would make a plural.

Obviously there are other things like Emily's tweet saying it's a band, so there's probably no point thinking about that.

Most solo artists have backing bands.

Did you not hear? We're getting the full lineup posted on the 2000th page.

Only if we make an offering of a virginal sacrifice to the festival gods whilst chanting the true name of The Purple One!

So it's not Blur then going by the quote somebody has mentioned in the Blur thread.

I can't hazard a guess now, I was pretty certain it was going to be them.

but as has been stated, what with the announcement not coming until June, Dave could well be lying as he's not about to just blurt out 'yeah we are headlining'. so maybe it rules Blur out, or maybe it does absolutely nothing

    • People seem to have got obsessed about 'secret sets' at all festivals this year even when there aren't any spaces other than, in EOTR's case, the usual late Folly sets that 90%+ of the time are from artists who are already playing.
    • To be fair @Superscally barely mentions the running thing. Very quiet about it 😘
    • I guess we'll just have to wait until videos of the shows go up, but the fact that the standing is also greyed out still suggests to me that those sections just sold out out before the others and a blue block just be like 3 tickets left, it's still not concrete proof they never went on sale and if they were never on sale why would they not make it even, if 414 wasn't on sale then you'd think 409 wouldn't be either
    • Selfish, but I've done the 2 days I'm there.. i'll try to do the rest through the day but might get beaten to it as it's editable....    https://clashfinder.com/s/ape2026/
    • I don’t think the festival automatically ‘need’ to have a female headliner if you have strong female headliners on the Other Stage (which I reckon will be Rosalia and Phoebe Bridgers), perhaps a female legend (praying for Annie, will take Cher), and a few female/mix gendered subs on the Pyramid (maybe London Grammar, The xx). From what I’ve seen of Sabrina, her team prioritises the pay day and I think she will be doing Wembley over Glasto weekend.   One thing I’ve noticed is a lot of the suggestions would be first time headliners and I can’t work out when the last time was that the festival had three artists top the bill that hadn’t topped it before? It seems to be something they like to do to make sure they have a ‘safe’ headliner that will land well with the masses. Plenty of names in that hat that could step back up next summer and should/could be about: Billie Eilish, Adele, Foo Fighters, The Cure, Radiohead, U2…hell, if Beyoncé is really planning to release a ‘rock n roll’ album to complete her Renaissance trilogy, Glastonbury would be a great place to ‘kick off’ that campaign for her.   And there’s always the Rihanna rumour. Her husband (I think) said this week she’s in the studio.
