I agree with the majority in here, Metallica nailed it. Great setlist, seemed genuinely honoured to be there & they put on a good show.

It must have been weird for a band that big with such a strong following to play a gig to so many 'non-fans'.

Taking this into account, I was surprised at how good the crowd was. I was with a mate who's seen them at Download, Leeds and their own show and said Glastonbury was the best crowd he's seen them in.

120 seconds ruined! Nah it was a nice touch. They're one of the only mega bands around who are still really in touch with their fanbase and make a big effort with them.

I have most likely missed it, and I know there is another thread purely for it - but I have come this far with this thread that I can't handle reading through another, what is the proposed most likely time if there is an announcement tomorrow?

Did not bother me at all. I actually thought it was kinda cool of them to do that for their fans. 10s of Metallica and Glastonbury fans seeing (possibly) their favorite band at their favorite festival from up on the Pyramid stage. Id say it was pretty special for em

it was a nice touch for sure, but I would hate to see one of my favourite bands do it.

I enjoyed them but it was by far the worst set I've seen them put in. Rubbish setlist too.

Aye I loved it but I thought the setlist was a let down - I didn't mind that they played a few more than usual from the black album, but omitting stuff like Battery and Welcome Home was just sacrilige. And playing Whiskey In The Jar was a shite move

well the flaming lips dickheads blended in and were a part of the mayhem on stage. But they too were shit and I'm glad they've gone now.

The metallic dickheads just stood there looking all out of place. It was great for them no doubt though.

I was there, and I thought it was incredible. One of my best Glasto memories.

To be fair, though, I was right on the front barrier, and I had wanted to see Metallica since the past.

I was completely blown away by Metallica. Awesome is the best way to describe that set. So loud, so tight, so clichéd ('Do you want heavy? DO YOU WANT HEAVY? Metallica brings you heavy baby').

I am not a Metallica fan either, but I knew over half the songs - they're iconic.

Going back to the Gorillaz comments a couple of pages ago, I really enjoyed their set, but the crowd annoyed me - didn't give them a chance. Someone next to me, said "who's that?" when Lou Reed walked out, to which I replied "it's Lou Reed" and their reply was "who?" - I despair at some people!

Im a big fan and have seen them a few times before so was delighted they played such a great gig. Sounded great, great setlist and they "got" the festival too.

That said, it wasn't particularly well attended (as expected) so can't see Eavis rushing to book another heavy headliner.

Although Arcade Fire wasn't well attended either.

The sound was phenomenal! Even the sound check was one of the loudest things every heard on that stage.

The attendance often gets spoken about as a gauge of how successful an act was. It doesn't. All it speaks to is the appeal of an act, often when clashing with 10s of other acts across the festival. You can have low appeal and still knock it out of the park.

Obviously if an act draws a tiny crowd then it will impact on their likelihood of being re-booked, or possibly other acts in their genre. but it's not to say that just because Metallica drew a smaller than average crowd that they were poor or that everyone else at the festival were sat by their tents feeling miserable - they were all out somewhere else having a ball (and if they weren't then they're doing it wrong!). Is it such a bad thing that occasionally the Pyramid crowd is a bit smaller?

As you said, apparently there weren't massive crowds at Arcade Fire or Metallica. Do I care? No. Did it affect my enjoyment of either set? No. I was in the front bit for both and at no point do I remember feeling the the urge to look behind me to see how many other people were there.

I thought it was a bit odd at first but got used to them after 10 minutes

      So we've signed a Horny Czech, and Bruno's turned up the training camp instead of doing Isak's nonsense.   Still not sure I believe Bruno's staying mind, but glad he's not doing the sh*t Arsenal are asking him to do to lower the price. If they want him they can stump up.   My suspicion is that whichever of Madrid/Man City don't start next season with Rodri will go for Bruno, and one of them will come in while Arsenal have f**ked about trying to get him cheap, which while I absolutely want to keep him, would still be good enough bants and a nice middle finger that I wouldn't mind it so much. I just wish we'd report Arsenal for tapping up.   If rumours are to be believed, we're after 2 more defensive signings, and an attacking player, on top of a replacement if Bruno leaves, having already signed a LW, 2 CMs, a GK, and some youth players. Huge churn, but apart from a couple of Bazou Toure's games for Ivory Coast at the world cup, I've not seen any of them play. Over 2 summers we've basically changed our entire team aside from the CBs.

      I think the level of headliners Bloodstock get is varied    There's been bands who have gone on to play Download in quite a low spot like Meshuggah, Behemoth, Opeth etc.    Then they've had years like 2025 where you can argue that all three headliners are download main stage sub level    Knocked Loose right now i'd argue are 3rd down on main/opus headliner level while EC and FFDP are borderline main stage sub

      Yeah Roy's Tune was lovely. Looking forward to the whole thing hopefully going on iPlayer.   It's scattered dates they have this year really, proper tour/s to come next year - suspect a new single will drop in the next couple of months, providing the album is done.
