Coachella & Glastonbury

I think the difference is that Reading's held up as some kind of hellish playground of criminals and wasters, all jacked up on E numbers and looking to start fires, while Coachella is considered to be a refined and civilzed affair with a progressive and easy-going atttiude (which by all accounts isn't entirely correct). So where as there will be similar line-ups at Reading and Coachella the latter will always be looked on more favourably by Glasto-goers as it's perceived to have a similar outlook and atmosphere even though in reality it's just another commercial music festival.

wow, the past few years i've constantly been going back to the Coachella lineup to look at it in awe, just wishing that some of the acts would play whatever festival i'm attending, but this... is terrible. massive step down. glad i didn't choose this year to go as i would've been pissed

it's because of the 50 different stages that sets G apart . It's the being able to wander around from West Holts to Avalon and across to the park with the freedom to do so with beer in hand. true i guess lot of people might be of the inclination too sit on a deckchair for the whole day in the Pyramid field, and annoying as that is, i don't think it's true for the whole demographic. The three days when the musics on is when we get to visit different acts on the different stages and whilst its a performing arts festival i rarely other than on the Wednesday or Thursday do much Circus field or Green filed wandering, but other can and that's the point...... or maybe i'm missing the point :) , the point i think i am making is people choose G because of it's variety and not it's main stages, but we just like to pontificate.

bit of a ramble that .... sorry :)

Not sure about Phoenix as headline worthy and I'd steer clear of the rest of the Chilli Peppers but the rest of that lineup is gold for me.

There's a cracking array of hip-hop on there, Wu Tang, Early Sweatshirt, J5 & Pusha-T. Blur & the Roses double headlining would be a cracker and they seem to have found exactly where Biffy should be in the grand scheme of things.

It seems the Three O Clock have reformed as well, wasn't aware of that.

that Coachella line up is like a Glaso line up to me - there's a few things i'd pick to see while ignoring most of it.

only when i ignore bands at Glastonbury it's to go and do any one of a number of other great things. i haven't ever been to Coachella, is there much to do there when you don't want to look at a band on stage?

I went last year and there isn't much to it.

I would say its around the same size as V Festival. They have a pretty ferris wheel and the weather. The crowds there absolutely dreadful, I was watching Radiohead when these two loud American girls were talking for all the part I was stood by them. I moved elsewhere and I was stood next to a guy who was videoing the whole set on his iPad.

I certainly wouldn't recommend it.

I dont think that's true, especially not by people who know festivals. Its ironic considering they're playing, but RHCP where they are at it, has always been my image. You even said yourself about the beer.
