Personally these are acts i'd like to see if I was attending coachella this year

Blur, yeah yeah yeah's, jurassic 5!, Passion Pit, Band Of Horses, Of Monsters and Men, modestep, alt-j, jamie xx, The XX, The Postal Service, Sigur Ros, New Order, Hot Chip, Knife Party, Descendants, Bat for Lashes, Foals, Ben Howard, Pusha - T, Biffy Clyro, (Might give Red Hot chilli peppers a watch), Vampire Weekend, Wu tang Clan!

Yeah i think it's a pretty good lineup.

The Stone Roses and Blur are great headliners and most of the days are really strong, I'm surprised Phoenix are headlining but at least they're giving newer bands the chance to step up instead of playing it safe. I would've thought someone like The Strokes would've been a more likely choice. Biffy so low on the bill is strange but last year both Kasabian and Arctic Monkeys played in the afternoon. It's a shame they didn't go with another hip hop/dance headliner like in previous years as I think it makes the line up a bit more diverse and creative.

I've met very few americans who know who the stone roses are, and as for Blur, the conversation goes something along the lines of

"... are they the "woohoo" band?... didn't know they had any other songs".

It would be a little bit like us getting Blake Shelton or Billy Currington to headline V. Although, The Stone Roses and Blur are great, and pop-country is on the whole fairly shite.

be interesting to see how they both go down. like you said, i bet the crowd goes nuts for Song 2 and then are stood still for the remainder of the rest of their two sets

if Americans think the same of RHCP that we do (that they're shit, although i imagine they still love them) and seemingly don't know who Blur and The Stone Roses are, along with probably thinking Phoenix are too small to headline, it must be a pretty weak set of headliners for them, especially compared to previous years

I think the British bands will blow them all away if they give them the chance. Chilli's will flop as per with a 12 minute bass solo every other song.

But whether they give them the chance or bugger off to see Dog Blood instead... I guess they have a few months of youtubing ahead of them. It seems from the twitter comments its just young/hipsters who granted may not have heard of some of the bands.

I always find it odd when ppl go "who the f**k are xxxxxx?" when they are on the internet. You are on the internet you f**ktard with the use of google, Ecosia or even the god awful Bing.

Think about from their perspective.

We all know the stone roses, overseas maybe not so much, because they are a british band who have made their careers here in the UK. Therefore an eyebrow will be raised when they headline a US Festival.

I mean, you can all see how low biffy clyro are!

This is now the top comment on the youtube video for 'I Wanna Be Adored'

'check them out because they're head lining coachella... not impressed' and that's the bloody studio version of Ian Brown's vocals....

Weird to think that if Blur/Stone Roses announced that their first show back in the UK after respective reunions was a co-headlining show at a festival, everyone would go mad! Hottest ticket in town and all that! Where as the same situation in the US is met with disappointment!

On a side note, never really listened to Phoenix before (ironic given everyone's statements about Blur/Stone Roses) and firstly, I didn't realise they were French. Odd that a French alternative band have only done well recently in America. Secondly, I thought they were relatively new, and they aren't at all really! So a headline slot is probably well deserved for them! Hoping they make an appearance at Glasto in June (albeit in a lower slot...).

From 2004 to 2009 Coachella had mostly British headliners, big name rap artists have made headliners more American recently.

Having said that even the 04 to 09 lineups had a strong u.s undercard but this year its full of British acts. Maybe its just a reflection of the times, there haven't many big 'new' u.s bands over hear recently.

The Stone Roses could be a bit of a disaster. The fans who know them are very forgiving and know all the words and pretty much drown the awful singing. Thousands of curious punters not really knowing what to expect... when that sound comes out of his mouth.... ... whaaa ??

The difference of opinion is there for everyone to see if you look at the comparison between the reaction to the headline performances of Gorillaz at Glastonbury and Coachella in 2010 respectively. They went down a storm at Coachella (supposedly Plastic Beach caught on a lot more over there) but at Glastonbury...well we know what happened
