And, also. What is the link between Coachella and Glasto acts are? That's if there is any
none at all.

The nearest any link gets is that some of the bands on there will also be touring at Glasto time so that makes them possibilities to play Glasto. But the same thing applies to any band on tour, so Coachella means nothing at all.

Please god tell us you havent heard even so much as a sniff of a rumour that red hot chilli peppers might play glastonbury. I havent even considered the horrific prospect

I haven't heard a sniff of that, but I have heard lots of sniffs of Glasto scratching around, trying to find a 3rd headliner and failing.

I'd say that puts RHCP as possibles, cos there aren't so many possibles left.

My biggest fear till now had been KoL, but I think that's just been surpassed.

My big worry isn't that 3rd headliner bein shite... It's the fact if the Rolling Stones say no then they are scratching around for 2 more and if its that much trouble getting 1 more!! Well, how hards it going to be to find a decent act.

it might be that they've already got a back-up plan in place for the Stones, I dunno. But the fact I've heard that Glasto is prepared to wait indefinitely for their answer suggests that they might have.

That lineup is pretty weak in my opinion. I didn't realise Blur and The Stone Roses were so big in America. Phoenix? Meh. Red Hot Chilli Peppers do absolutely nothing for me too. Enjoy the beer gardens y'all (american voice).

Since when did Phoenix get so big?

Also The Stone Roses are headlining one day? Surely they're nowhere near big enough in the USA! They're playing Future Music Festival in Australia and even then they're headlining the second stage...that's with lots of Brits attending.

so ... where are all the people who insisted that Daft Punk were definitely playing Coachella. And Roskilde. And Glastonbury. And others? :P:lol:

Told ya this long long ago.

Meanwhile, back at the ranch .... perhaps I shouldn't have written that sentence in the way I have......

Phoenix are considerably bigger in the US and Europe than here, although headlining the likes of Coachella and Primavera is still a step up from the slots they were playing last time they toured. I guess a lot of people are expecting the new album to take off.

The Roses were considerably hyped in America and famously had it on a plate and threw it away. If memory serves me correctly (it was long time ago) they sold out Madison Square Gardens but then cancelled at short notice over something stupid like it being a seated gig. I think the American music industry were ready to push them all the way but quickly tired or their laziness and arrogance and gave up on them. I think they're popular in the States in the same way that Monty Python were; there would be intense interest from music fans for a limited appearance due to levels of interest about this apparently God-like band from the UK but I doubt their record sales are particularly high or that they'd sell out a big tour.

    • Rumours are it's called The Lost Tour. In the US in September. Ireland in November (so UK+Europe a good bet around November/early December).
    • Hey guys, is there a group going for any solo y not goers this year?? I couldn’t miss out once I saw the acts but it’s just me and would be great to meet some others:))
    • After deciding to abandon the festival, here's a few of my thoughts (mostly negative tbf).    On the positive side - was it just me or were there a few more urinals than last year? Seemed to help the queues at the loos a bit from what i saw. Plus they had at least had some foresight and had a few more covered areas in the VIP areas.    Now on the negatives.  The weather was admittedly pretty crap but it wasn't apocalyptic. How the actual f**k are bits of the main stage falling off in those conditions?  Then the communication was awful, there's a load of people who left the site because they were told by security guards/other personnel that there would be no more acts on the main stage this evening.  You have an app Primavera, use it! Yes, there's a shitload going on I'm sure but communication with the festivalgoers should be one of the top priorities. You failed.    And I'm not usually somebody who buys into the whole "oh this is hugely unsafe and it's lucky people weren't hurt" narrative, but all the above led to movements of people that were genuinely unsafe.  Evacuating Mordor entirely (again... Why???) and then having a horde of people trying to get in because they thought they were going to Massive Attack was insane.  And given a lot of people basically abandoned ship around 10.30pm the crush at both the exit to the festival and the entrance to the Metro was pretty dangerous.   Conditions happen, most people will get that....but the contingencies have to be better.
    • You'd think that something like bad weather was in the basics of festival planning. After the shitshow of Madrid, you'd think they'd learnt their lesson, apparently not...
    • Same. Shower and back out in a taxi!
