Arctic Monkeys

I'm of the opinion that a festival headline show should always be a greatest hits set with maybe one or two new tunes thrown in. If I wanted to see a band's more esoteric songs I'd go see their arena/stadium tour.

I'd probably go see Arctic Monkeys if they headlined, as long as the setlist suits the casual fan and that they put some effort in this time

For me to enjoy them, I'd have to have something like:

  1. When the Sun Goes Down
  2. Don't Sit Down 'Cause I've Moved Your Chair
  3. Crying Lightning
  4. Fluorescent Adolescent
  5. Brick By Brick
  6. The View From The Afternoon
  7. This House Is a Circus
  8. My Propeller
  9. Mardy Bum
  10. Cornerstone
  11. (2nd New Single)
  12. The Hellcat Spangled Shalalala
  13. Suck It and See
  14. Brianstorm
  15. Still Take You Home
  16. Teddy Picker
  17. Black Treacle
  18. Leave Before the Lights Come On

Encore:

  1. I Bet You Look Good on the Dancefloor
  2. (New Lead Single)
  3. Fake Tales of San Francisco
  4. R U Mine?
  5. A Certain Romance

and yes I read how they won't play fake tales, but fuck it it's a great song and needs to be played even if the "issues" don't effect them anymore. I am sure that would ignore all of the first album, the important factor is we can relate to it.

But yeah that would get me there, would still be bored from everything on Humbug that isn't Crying Lightning :P

I think some are being a little optimistic with these setlists!

Sure those choices would be good, but would they really only play 2 songs from an impending new album? Glastonbury is one of the best places to get exposure and get people interested in any new material! I was thinking sort of 5 or 6 from the new album, with 15 'greatest hits' songs from the other albums!

At Don Valley they opened with The View From The Afternoon because they liked how The Strokes open with the first track off their debut album (Is This It), so they decided to do that as The Strokes are one of the Arctics biggest influences and Turner's favourite band.

Think I'm in the few that prefers their latter stuff these days (Humbug is great, and unfortunately came at the wrong time for Reading/Leeds, the songs they still play of it, Dance Little Liar in particularly sound amazing these days too), Since making setlists seems to be the thing...

I feel thats a pretty well balanced setlist, as well as pleasing casual fans. Also sort of shows their newer albums have legs, if we include Evil Twin and R U Mine? as Suck it and See songs

Whatever…7/22

Favourite… 4/22

Humbug…3/22

Suck it and See 6/22

New Album 2/22

Must admit, I loved "Whatever People Say I Am....", was distinctly underwhelmed by the second album and didn't even bother with 'Humbug' after hearing the lead singles. Have just downloaded it however as it was on the cheap on Amazon and with the news that they are likely to play and I must say I really enjoyed it.

Much prefer it to the second album and can't really understand the bad press it got. Certainly would not be disappointed to hear some of those tracks live.

  6. The View From The Afternoon
  7. This House Is a Circus
  8. Still take you home

  2. 505
  3. R U Mine?
