well yeah it was mainly because it ruined their whole light show, but they made out as if the entire performance was a disaster, but it was absolutely amazing

and i am actually a fan of the Stones - not just 'this might be the last time i ever get to see this band who i've heard are really good'

i would be an absolute bastard of a clash, and i sincerely hope it doesn't happen. if Sigur Ros closed the Other on the Sunday night that'd be perfect

it really isn't. The only reason I'd watch the Stones is because I'd never pay to see them alone/get the chance to see them again, and they're one of the biggest bands ever.

I never sit at home and listen to them/feel the urge to. I don't mind the songs I hear by them on nights out etc, but meh. But I'm still 99% sure I'll be seeing them if they headline.

will they have learned that it's good to know what the next song your going to play is as soon as the previous one has finished... and not stand around nattering, shuffling their feet etc, for a couple of minutes between each song?

So if Arctics DO play, how new album heavy do we think the this set will be? If the albums not out by that time, I reckon it'll just be the lead single (Likely already released) and one other track from the record.

If the albums out, its unlikely to have had much time to become well known, so there is a bit of a danger of it turning into an R&L style performance...

I guess there are a lot of people out there with this mindset. Blinded by the hype surrounding a band.

I just find it peculiar to pass up the opportunity to see a band you really like at probably the greatest musical venue there is (glastonbury), to go and see a band that are "big", but that you dont particularly like much

Would love it, but too soon i'm thinking. Anyway, with them actually touring the new album, and with Dave on drums, it wouldn't surprise me if someone like Reading or Download throw a large amount of money at them for an exclusive.

In 2011 they were touring the debut album again and probably were off a few of the festival's radars because of this reason. Expecting that they would just want to do the same setlist. Then Glasto and QotSA, out of nowhere, suprise everyone with a one off fans greatest hit set.

i'm sure i read somewhere that Grohl won't be touring with them... but i could've totally made that up, especially since he doesn't have any commitments with Foos at the moment so would be a perfect time for him to tour with QOTSA

if Download gets QOTSA with Grohl then they are some massive sons of bitches

I would be very surprised if Arctics have not released at least one new single before Glasto, and will then probably play a further 1 or 2 songs from the new album, as I should imagine they would want the sales increase (of the already released single) and the buzz for the new album off the back of the performance. But I agree I can't really see them releasing it before, more like a week or two after.

Hell, they would be an amazing headliner, they have always been simplistic and raw, I love them for it. Deffinitley a strong choice, seeing as they don't get around festivals as much as other bands *cough* kasabian *cough* the killers. I mean seriously, what festivals haven't them two bands played in the last 3-4 years! :')

Going back to the question about how much new stuff are they likely to include etc Coldplay included about 5 new ones from their at the time unreleased new album and they slotted in quite well. In fact they opened with a brand new song, at the time I said to a mate that was a mistake however by the end of the same song I already had the chorus in my head and as a result of the set bought the new album (not really a fan but wanted to relive those Glastonbury moments).

The point I'm getting at is if the new stuff is upbeat and accessible then there is no reason not to chuck it in the mix. The problem before with the 2009 Humbug heavy show @ R/L was the album had just been released and was very moody taking a fair few listens to get into it hence why the show fell flat on its face !!

The more festivals they get announced for, the more certain I am that they are playing.

They should be moved to TBC in my opinion, they can't play any other festival other than Reading and that looks pretty unlikely.

Reading has probably forked out all their money for eminem and the two other headliners won't be up to the same status or standard.

Roll on arctics!
