Got any gigs coming up?

A few times but not on a night out.

Never set foot in the place myself actually, just playing the old mancs v scoucers trope*. It's a bit daft that I've never been, there's been loads of gigs there that I would have liked to have gone to there but didn't, should probably keep more of an eye on it in future, it does seem to get good traffic in terms of bands passing through.

*Only as a joke, like, please don't ban me, Neil.

Never got a chance to go to Leeds Arena, any good?

Anyway Hospitality at Building 6 in London. Never heard of Building 6, any reports?

Its the old matter/Proud 2 venue....been a couple of times, its okish I guess. Its better if the upstairs balcony isn't VIP and it can quite cramped in there.

I've always been lucky with arenas I think, the recent Manchester ones I've been to have been massive love-ins such as NIN, Fall Out Boy, Morrissey and the incredible Mr. Leonard Cohen, the right act can make it work for them. The only gig I've seen in Sheffield Motorpoint was the life-affirming Pulp farewell/homecoming gig, to see just how soulless that wasn't, turn your attention to the film abut it. I have faith in Jack White to deliver a belting set in Leeds, but all the same I'll be getting myself a standing spot as close to the stage as possible, I wont be stood far away from the stage in a crowd full of disinterested lugs waiting for Seven Nation Army like I was at Glastonbury.

Good to see love for The Twilight Sad in here. I have loved them since their debut (what a brilliant album that is) and was at the King Tuts gig last year when they played it in full. They are special live, wall of sound.

Listened to a stream of the latest one online prior to release and really liked it. Listened twice and I think it could be their best since the first one. Will be purchasing it very soon.

As for upcoming gigs for the rest of the year, all I have is The War on Drugs and The Jesus And Mary Chain.

Joanne Shaw Taylor at The Globe in Cardiff and Bryan Adams at The Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff three days later. Wondering if I could persuade Mrs GH to let me sneak off to Show of Hands at St David's Hall in Cardiff between the two.

Also considering Brit Floyd's latest tour in December. Have seen them before and they're very good, but still a tribute band and not sure if the £40 quid would be worth it.

Got Lykke Li at the Albert Hall in Manchester next Saturday, Enter Shikari at the Barrowlands in Glasgow next Feb. and then, of course, McBusted at the Hydro.

There still appears to be limited seating for Slipknot at the Hydro as well, which I'm strongly considering.

Has anyone here seen Lykke Li? What can I expect?

She's flipping ace. Great performer and the new album is much better live. Also she does some songs in different arrangements to the albums, a bit more dancey

I'm seeing her on Thursday in London, can't wait.

As Russy said, she is flipping ace. I had an absolute blast seeing her headline the BBCR6 tent on the last night of Latitude this year, new album is easily one of the best of 2014, the other two are similarly brilliant. Expect a very powerful performance. I'm seeing her again next Saturday, can hardly wait.

Manchester?

Manchester indeed, I went to a gig at Albert Hall for the first time last month, and it looks like a great setting for any artist, but I think she'll fit in especially well.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
