Your not wrong. Bigger name acts actually often mean more publicity not better acts. For example- While we know acts like Young Fathers etc are not "big enough" to headline they are one of the best live acts around. I would much rather see the festival full of great live acts than chase as many big names as possible . But the problem is people they want the names they are familiar with they are not prepared to risk an unfamiliar thing (hopefully present company excluded) It's the Dominoes Pizza effect. Most people probably have an independent local Pizza shop that makes amazing pizza with quality ingredients for less money. But when they want a Pizza they have seen 20million bits of advertising for Dominoes so they go straight there. I wish the general public were more interested in music quality than familiarity of names. Would be a better festival for everyone.4 points

Mumford and Sons last year were definitely the worst rock headliner. It’s not 2010. I went home early that night.2 points

First one's a female artist but not a headliner. Lana was on at some point. For quite a while. the first image I posted here was a reference to a line in 'Lust for Life', "Blue skies forever".2 points

A big reason for me going last year was to see the Delgados. It should have been a celebration on that stage. In the end they had a tiny but committed audience. I think I'm still recovering from that set as I danced and drank myself through the downpour. I was physically and emotionally battered by the end of it. The Dutch music scene has been buzzing for five years now. Personal Trainer are another example of an act who would be much more hyped if they came out of east London . Lambrini Girls are absolute chaos.. Not necessarily in a good way but I'm sure they'll go down well2 points

Are they planning to use the top half of the field as a driving range or maybe have a giant slip n slide set up there that afternoon or something?1 point

I can too, but in a likely announcement of around 35 acts we 'know' 5. A lot of festivals are struggling with headliners this year, maybe Sziget is going to stack the undercard. I'd say Editors, Raye and Mo are strong undercard acts and the kind mostly missing in announcement one.1 point

and Mumford are not huge? I know they haven't done much post-Covid in terms of releasing new music but still, their last album was number one in the US and Canada and was top 3 in most of Western Europe. Last year, they managed to headline Rock Wercter, Mad Cool and Austin City Limits. I was just reflecting the fact that someone said Mumford are old and irrelavant because it's not 2010 anymore. The same applies to Liam. His solo stuff is not as popular as anything Oasis released. People go to his shows mainly for Wonderwall, Rock'n'roll Star or Champagne Supernova and now he's doing 'Definitely Maybe' in full...1 point

She's been in to drop off the poster! It's happening tomorrow surely! 😜1 point

Idles aren’t playing from what we’ve heard. The same info that put LCD Soundsystem 2nd on the Pyramid had PJ Harvey on before them.1 point

Joe Talbot confirmed they are playing last night during a show in Antwerp. I guess they have been asked again or given a better spot. It would.be Friday as that's their only available day.1 point

Liam is huge in UK. He played to 170,000 over two nights at Knebworth in 2022. Since 2017 he's had three solo number one albums and his album with John Squire of The Stone Roses went in at number one in the album charts last Friday. Appreciate this is all very UK-centric, but just wanted to highlight he's still topping the charts.1 point

Weirdest absence of them all tbh. I am not saying that they would have shifted tickets that much. However, it's weird that the festival booking them since the reunion every time they were available didn't do it when they are around in that precise time with a new record.1 point

“Stand by your beds” is the phrase Neil used to post to indicate a Glastonbury poster drop is about to happen. Cue absolute bedlam at eFests.1 point

Just give the Other Stage opening slot to Feeder. New album out in April and currently touring. Would fill the field, play the hits and send everyone off happy enough.1 point

Stop with this Editors-headlining rubbish pls, they're never going to headline.1 point

Absolutely no chance they are the rock headliner. Sub or A38 headliner would be my guess.1 point

The energy they brought was mad! Getting the guutarists to crowdsurf while playing as well. I had a decent spot as went straight in as soon as the smiths cover act was done. They aren't for everyone though I accept that.1 point

Sure is. Assuming they have been accepted again for this year the Crumble Shack is conveniently located just opposite the Left Field tent on the path that leads towards Pyramid. Choices of fruit and toppings. Heaven.1 point

Played third down Woodsies last year so would be pretty wild if they were now bumped up to Pyramid sub, both because of how desperate a booking it would look, and y’know.. because they’re terrible. Doubt they’re gonna be there again anyway as it would just be a pointless repeat booking what with them not having done anything of note since last year.1 point

Caribou on WH 2015. While the entire rest of the festival (it seemed) went off to watch Libs on Pyramid, I stayed there alone. Made friends with a ton of strangers, danced like an idiot, loved the triumphant 'Can't Do Without You' ending. V happy memories to go with a shot I think is great too.1 point

Cancelations- of course, but im puting this aside, its not new names, its replacements. And new electronic/small special stages can happen, but these are smaller names. I dont see them adding Slowdive-level act, definitely not New Order. Why give up on full festival tickets if you have that? You can always free more Friday tickets after they are released1 point

It's very popular amongst many of the posters here. Last couple of years it's been opposite Leftfield and very popular with Billy Bragg. https://www.gravyandcustard.co.uk/crumbleshack BTW for me the revelation was that they keep the toppings separate from the fruit. So firstly they can cater for a variety of combinations throughout the day and until late at night, but also whenever you get it the topping is always lovely and crisp.1 point

With bookies odds, the two numbers given are relative to each other - the first one is what you'd win, the second number is your stake. So if as above the odds are 7/2 on Rihanna - A £10 bet would win you £35, plus if you win you get your £10 back. Whereas for Stevie Nicks at 16/1 - A winning £10 bet would return £160 plus the stake back. Except in both cases, neither are headlining so you'd end up with nothing. For a market like this, with everything locked in and ready to announce, no bookie is going to offer odds like that on anyone that they think has even an outside chance of headlining.1 point

The Tubs feature a couple of members of Joanna Gruesome and in Dead Meat made one of my favourite albums of last year, saw it described as "if Richard Thompson had formed Sugar". Islet have been around for years and years, their more recent work has tended towards more ambience but live they make a huge noisy psych sound and are far from averse to charging into the crowd and across the stage. Man/Woman/Chainsaw are art-rock out of the Brixton Windmill scene and are supposedly hugely raucous live. Brown Wimpenny have been mentioned, they use some of Lankum's drone and dread in service to huge chorales of old folk songs a la Shovel Dance Collective/Broadside Hacks. Fulu Miziki look fun, they're an Afrofuturist collective from DR Congo with a lot of homemade percussion and dancing, they would surely suit anyone who loved BCUC or Kokoko!1 point

It's weird, because I've never considered EE a nepo baby the way the term is bandied around. She runs a business, and she's simply succeeded her father in that position, as a lot of family businesses would.1 point

That's strange... I was quite sure that the most popular band on Spotify or whatever it was, would be an immediate sell out. Go figure....1 point
