  1. If there’s a headliner that floats your boat on WH but you’ve got a clash I’d say give it a second thought before you bin off the WH act because it’s got such a great atmosphere… it’s weird because the stage itself is fairly standard and unremarkable but it has a certain something that you can’t quantify really. Bicep and Justice on WH are two of my absolute fave gigs ever!

  2. The playlist leak, correct or not (and I'm certain it is), proves the insanity of tye "don't announce anything until you get there" brigade. I've now got 2 unmissable acts thar I'd never heard of before and have even ordered an album by one of them.

  3. Some general tips: - It's very easy to travel to the festival since it's very close to Tøyen and Carl Berner subway and in the middle of the city. So no need to live very close to the festival. Just live close to a subway station. - Eat a good meal before going to the festival, since the festival can be kinda expensive, but very good. - Remember to keep your glass after you're finished drinking, since it's will cose 20 NOK (around 2 euro) for a new glass. You will of course get a new glass when you delivering the old one. The glass is also nice to have if you want water. There is a lot of water station that's free and effective to use. - If it's raining, it will get muddy. So have some good footwear for rain and poncho/rain jacket, since it's not allowed with umbrellas. - The day before the festval (Tuesday), it's something that's called Klubbdagen. It's free for everyone with festival pass, and it's a lot of up and coming Norwegian acts that's playing venues around the city. The programme for that will come later. - The festival is finished at 23:00 (Norwegian rules), but there something called Øyanatt. This is also different concerts around the city, but this one with bigger artists/band and international ones. Nothing has been announched yet, but will come later. There is enterance fee for this concerts, but with a discount for you with festival pass. Normall costs around 175 NOK - 300 NOK for a concert, that can have more than one artist. Just ask if you have any questions! I live like a five minutes walk from the festival and been there a lot.

  5. Just to resurrect this thread. I had a question. Does it actually matter if you see the performers themselves on the stage if you know you're at the gig anyway? Like, I could barely see Elton John, I was pretty central, past the two sound stages. Couldn't see hardly at all. He was sat down behind a piano for 90% of it. I doubt most of the crowd saw him much at all. But did it matter?

  6. Lots of young people moving from MDMA to coke is one of the worst things to happen to festivals. Less face pulling but lots more me, me, me.

  7. The entire West Holts lineup seemingly leaked yesterday in the form of one of the bookers having it as a public playlist on his Spotify. He’s deleted it now but it’s out there.List of acts here:

  8. Genuinely the time to get Ratboy off of The 1975 on the phone rather than book those musical statues playing pigeon beshat one hit wonder c**ts.

  9. I greatly admire the dedication of a man who uses the 1% of battery life he has to screenshot the West Holts lineup and post on here.

  10. Personally I think that this summer is the chance to see them at the absolute top of their game and a headline slot against a legendary artist like Stevie is all the better for ensuring the crowd is full of die hard fans so the atmosphere should be bang on. It would take someone really special to entice me to another stage.

  11. Heck, neither Mumford or Kasabian or Kendrick or Metallica wrecked the festival. All of them either had small "clout" or small numbers in the field on the night. I don't think King's of Leon would be asked to headline as first choice, but it's not like smaller headliners have been uncommon the last 30 years. Think we were lucky last year to have two massive heritage headliners and Arctics, but it won't be like that every year.

  14. I hope so. Acts like them, with their wide range of past offences and current ongoing legal troubles should not be given a spotlight in any circumstance. I do think an act like Run the Jewels would be much better under them 'lights', on that stage. Edit - or yeah, like Andrew said, Killer Mike.

  17. For me, they barely put a foot wrong for their first three. Quickly went south after. Knocked Up is an absolute banger.

  18. Aha Shake Heartbreak was great. Thereafter they embraced the pigeon sh*t - completely different band.

  19. Their tour and overall music sells suggest they could easily headline. So many people clearly judge who is headline material by their taste.

  23. Thanks, Captain. Still got plenty in the legs yet, my friend. Just at events more suited to my taste and demographic. Did you see the Sofia Kourtesis news? Two sets, Friday 28th, San Remo and West Holts.

  24. Partok is soooo good! From the very brief mention of Genosys by Gideon on NTYS, my impression is that they've managed to, essentially, refurbish and rebuild it. So, I think we're going to see it in all its previous glory. Just the thought of seeing the fantastic, mind-melting video-mapping on the top of the structure (I particularly love the rotating air conditioner fans...) when spangled is giving me goosebumps. Ben

  27. After having listened through the playlist a few times I can safely say the rest of the lineup could be a bit shite and I’d still be fairly happy to just be at Holts for most of the weekend. Some brilliant stuff there that I’ve never heard before. Also really hoping Justice are Friday rather than Sunday as them vs. Coldplay would seriously be perfect.

  30. I think was a combination of things. Following Katy Perry was hard because she had wall to wall pop bangers and then being before Foo Fighters probably is fine but not really their crowd. I know I've said this before but I also think it was a misjudged setlist from them. Anyway - Other stage headliner should right that wrong.

  34. I really hope they don’t end up on the Pyramid Stage. They are an incredible band but they are not one that will blow people away listening for the first time with their catchy tunes. I found their sub headlining set before Foos incredibly annoying because people just talked all the way through it. I would much rather they were headlining their own stage and know that the people there are more likely fans rather than just waiting for the next act.
