  1. The problem I have with some firm info for us to discuss is that it takes this thread away from its intended purpose, which is for people to talk about how crap they think gnr are. Stay focused people

  2. Like saying Emeli Sande is gonna headline or that Roxy Music are doing the legend slot or that there’s no way Guns N Roses are gonna headline.

  3. So having gone through the thread and collating all the names mentioned (bar a couple of joke suggestions), and excluding any that started in the 90s onwards (because obviously): Definitely viable: - Shania Twain - 3 month gap between Vegas runs. - Stevie Nicks - Extensive US tour ends in March, European dates not announced yet. Status unknown: - Alanis Morissette - Last currently scheduled date is November. - Annie Lennox - Has started to do bits and pieces recently after being inactive. - Cher - New album of Christmas songs, but no scheduled dates. - Chaka Khan - Last currently scheduled date is January. - Cyndi Lauper - Active recently but nothing currently scheduled. - Dionne Warwick - Last currently scheduled date is February. - Gloria Gaynor - Last currently scheduled date is November. - Grace Jones - Active recently but nothing currently scheduled. - Joan Armatrading - Active recently but nothing currently scheduled. - Joni Mitchell - Did her first show in forever last year, then another this year. Huge question over logistics. - Patti Smith - Last currently scheduled date is December. Ruled out or extremely unlikely: - Carly Simon - Last show was 2018. - Carole King - Rarely appears for more than a song or two, and nothing since January 2022. - Celine Dion - Cancelled an extensive 2023/24 world tour for health reasons. - Gladys Knight - Not available due to other dates. - Kate Bush - No chance whatsoever. - Tracy Chapman - Last show was 2009.

  4. It's Reading and Leeds, so they'll book one pop punk act and put them on a different day

  6. Yeah, that seems airtight. Honestly, Tool would personally be worse than Calvin Harris.

  8. I'm not sure about that. I think they would have packed the Barn, but who knows. Maybe it's the nostalgic in me talking, but I for one would have loved it 🙂

  9. Not sure when you last posted but the pre Covid one is locked and this is the only one existing now . You can have people helping from outside but they must be helping entire group if you are paired with others on here . You must also be prepared to help all the other groups on here and hopefully your friends would too , that’s how these groups are successful it’s the filtering down of numbers so hopefully in the end everyone tries and gets the last remaining group . So do not mix groups from people not listed

  10. I might be murdered for saying this but I've lost excitement for the prospect of Pulp being announced. I like their music but maybe it's because we've talked about them so much on here for almost 2 years now. Anyone else feel the same? I'll probably feel different next June.

  11. Foos will probably do short festival tour this summer including Hellfest, Rock Werchter, Roskilde, Nos Alive, Mad Cool, Idays...

  12. Just looking myself and you do get a 'too many requests' error when the fake page loads. Not sure if this would be the same in the real sale.

  13. Twas a misclick, intended as an upvote! My preference is Pulp + Dua Lipa on stage together, let's get the "Common People" update for 2024!

  15. She's also not going to say, "we waited for Madonna but all we could get was Pink. Sorry about that". Whoever fills each of those slots she's going to be "absolutely delighted" with

  16. There it is. Same mate of mine clued me in that we were meant to be getting a GNR show last year until it got pulled so they could headline Glasto. She's usually very reliable so I have no real reason to doubt her, but as always take these things with a pinch of salt until they get officially confirmed.

  17. I know people are correlating the phone call being Pink to the tour dates just announced but… that’s not how it works - she wouldn’t announce tour dates and at the same time call up Glastonbury saying she’s available. Surely that would’ve happened earlier. Maybe this is pure copium from me, but I’m still going with Madonna. Pink doesn’t warrant that level of hype from Emily and her ‘you’ll see when the lineup is out’ comment wouldn’t really make sense if it was Pink, whereas with Madonna it would very much be a ‘oh sh*t they got Madonna’. So yeah, Madonna.

  18. Nobody is out here saying ‘Italian American artist Madonna’. Gonna revise my thoughts and say I think Emily is 100% talking about Madonna here. Makes sense that she’d be an act they’d be leaving a slot open for which is definitely not something I think they’d be doing for Pink. Sounds like they’ve held that headliner slot open hoping Madonna would get back to them and bam, the call came in and it’s sorted.

  19. https://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/music/news/glastonbury-2024-headliners-emily-eavis-b2435986.html New interview from Emily with a bit of talk about next years headliners: “2024 is still a little up in the air,” she told Annie Mac and Nick Grimshaw on Thursday’s episode of their podcast, Sidetracked with Annie and Nick. “And I thought it was kind of taking shape and then last week I just got a call, and this is what happens if you wait a little longer, because quite often we’ll be booked up from July. This year we’re holding out for a little bit longer and last week I got a call from a really big American artist saying this person’s around next year, and I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is incredible.’ Thank God we held the slot.” Not giving too much away, although the realist in me says that phone call is Pink rather than Madonna who they presumably would’ve been in talks with long before last week… Also female legend confirmed.

  20. I don’t think she has much appeal to the younger generation either to be honest. Billie Eilish was very much of the moment though, unlike P!NK.

  21. In an unexpected bout of randomness and coincidence, in the last week Chevelle and Rob Flynn have love emoji'd posts on FB I made 3 years ago. One asking for a UK tour and the other after meeting him after a gig in the Cathoose. Me being such a massive social meeja presence and all that, they've obviously decided that I'm their new conduit to announce their appearances at Download :)

  23. It's very likely Foo Fighters, Foo Fighters no longer have dates for Rock in Rio... But also Weezer, The Smashing Pumpkins and The National out there.

  25. So now we know its female, we can start looking at realistic prospects. Clout have a tight 60 in them and tick all the boxes. 100k at this. Emily crying backstage.

  26. Now that would be fantastic Preferable to Madge, Pink, Rhianna, Dua, Swift or more or less any other potential female headliner

  27. They're at Canela party, as are Big Thief. No real source but I'm sure I saw that Eppo is a fan and they've been booked before.

  28. Zero chance, luckily. Its one of those bands that has a great back catalogue, the new album is very good too, but they waste it all on rockstar BS choreographies on stage. I've seen them a couple of times and it sometimes feels like they are a tribute band to themselves. Also, the constant touring doesn't do them good, they should just take a break and refocus.

  31. I think that SP won't play Mad Cool (they played there in their last European festivals tour in 2019). I am pretty sure that they are booked by LT this year and Azkena budget is not so high (now they are booking cheaper headlining artists as Rancid, Patty Smith or Iggy Pop). Also I think that Smashing Pumpkins prefer to play mainstream festivals instead of 100% rock/punk/garage festivals.

  32. Pink is on another level to Lizzo though - completely different ballpark. If Pink plays, she headlines, but yeah… I just dont see that happening, thankfully.

  33. Hearing Grimshaw mention in the Emily interview that coach tickets go on sale next Thursday then realising that’s just one week from today gave the old heart a little flutter.

  34. Also Emily’s Madonna insta post. Pink despite her qualities would be a really bad booking to headline Glastonbury in 2023.

  35. My take…. They were/are holding out for Madge. Pink is the artist who has come to light this week due to tour dates. They basically now have a plan A and a plan B. Dua X Coldplay x Madge or Pink

  42. We traveled down to that Halifax gig this Summer too and I would agree. First time I'd been but I thought it was a brilliant venue and QOTSA were arguably the best I'd seen them. Out of the three potential headliners they're the one most likely to bring me back but it will depend what we get in terms of undercard before I make any decision.
