  3. I have no interest in being in this forum other than get hyped for the next PS (and what interest would there be in spreading misinformation about crucial global issues such as PS headliners? I don’t get it). With these premises I can report that a very reliable source close to Massive Attack confirmed: - the existence of at least one concert in July - that if they go on tour next year, they’ll be at PS I have no information on whether there would be new music

  5. Theres something going on here. Some soul to the devil thing or a pact with God. Ages 76, 79, 81, 80. Stones with a new album and the 80 year old front man dancing around the stage like a 20 year old cokehead at a wedding beside the 79 year old ex smack head alco and life long chain smoking guitarist. Two of them actually. And Macca just put this gig in down under. https://www.setlist.fm/setlist/paul-mccartney/2023/marvel-stadium-melbourne-australia-5ba0f774.html Whatever deal Robert Johnson had, these lads got a better one.

  6. Why on Earth is everyone just randomly arguing about Post Malone and what genre he is? No one is just one genre nowadays, everything's just a clusterf**k of everything in order to appeal to as many demographics as possible. But he isn't rap...

  10. Nah, not having this. It's only true if young people want to see the actual same bands you were watching decades ago. (And why would they want to do that?) There's plenty of great gigs going on with new interesting music at a whole range of venues for ten or twenty quid.

  13. Apart from a couple of names, I'd take the entire list of names from Hellfest's first announcement to RW. Ps: Yes yes I'd happily see QOTSA two years in a row. There are awesome! 😉

  14. Yeah, I'd guess QOTSA/FOB/Avenged I think it will be something like: QOTSA/Royal Blood/Alice In Chains Megadeth FOB/The Offspring/Sum 41 Pantera Avenged/Machine Head/Bad Omens Alice Cooper

  23. Hi good folks👋 2023 was my 7th Glastonbury and hoping for another in 2024. I’m a long time user of efests but haven’t had the cojones to chip in here. I knew Glastonbury was the place for me on my first night there in 2013. A giant turtle car pulled up alongside on the railway track and a man dressed as a glittery fish popped out the top shouting “does anybody have any plankton?”, before rolling into a quite unbelievable beatboxing performance to a jubilant crowd. It’s the weird and wonderful that sets it apart. Anyway, nice to meet you all and hope I can contribute positively🤘

  27. I was at a Craig Finn solo show once, thoroughly enjoying it just being his solo stuff and knowing that no Hold Steady stuff was on the cards. He started talking about it towards the end of the gig and said "I'm often asked why I don't play any Hold Steady stuff on my solo shows. Well, it just doesn't seem right without any other members of the band here. Anyway, here's Tad Kubler..." For the many of you who don't know, Tad is The Hold Steady's guitarist, and they promptly played 4 or 5 HS tunes while the place went nuts. I guess what this shows is that while we all pretend to appreciate the solo stuff, what we really want is at least a couple of the big singalong tunes that got us to hear the singer/guitarist/whoever it is in the first place. Yes, that's a sweeping statement but I can't think of any solo performer from a big act that's I've not appreciated dragging out at least one of the hits.

  28. I think this, I also suspect that they've had a change up of their comms. There's a few bits about the way they've been doing social media posts since September that make me think it's either a new company they've contracted out to do social, or they're using new brand guidelines (or both!) So entirely possible they're just being proactive.

  30. Had such a good time on Saturday at Drumsheds and was impressed by pretty much everything really. Stayed at the Premier Inn, which was 5 mins walk away, and seemed like most of the hotel was going to Bugged Out! We headed down about 3:30pm as wanted to watch the football but didn't take long at all to get in. It's basically spread over two floors with the ground one housing the toilets, lockers, a large bar and chill out spaces. Everything's signposted so was easy enough to get around but did take a while to get my bearings. The three rooms are all upstairs and there's more bars on the concourse and inside the main X room. Went in there first and it's absolutely massive! They've put quite a bit of thought into access and how to move people around. There were barriers funnelling entry into the room so it never felt busy or crowded. Spent a bit of time on one of the elevated platforms which had an amazing view across the crowd. The lights and visuals were excellent (could have done with a few lasers) and the issues that others had mentioned with the sound seemed to have been sorted out. It was loud enough if you stood never one of the stacks but the low end could have been a bit deeper. Only went into Z a couple of times but it was a nice small space that had a good atmosphere. Spent most of our time in Y though and that was definitely the favourite. Saw superb sets from Heidi, Kitten and then Erol Alkan who absolutely smashed it. Managed to bump into him earlier in the evening and had a brief chat which was nice! Also saw Sub Focus on the concourse just wandering around and he was sound and happy to talk as well. Dipped into X quite a few times during the evening and saw bits of Basement Jaxx, Hot Chip and A-Trak. The other two rooms shut down not long after Orbital started so we finished off the night with them. I'd only seen them once before at V99 and they put on such a good show on Saturday. Was a real mix of 4/4, breaks and even some DnB and the visuals were spot on - a perfect way to end! Only spent a little bit of time in the outside area as it was pissing down when we went out. Atmosphere throughout the whole thing was great and got chatting to quite a few different people. There was a really good buzz about the place and everyone we met seemed to be on a high just to be there and enjoying the venue and music. Drinks were a rip off - £6 for a 330ml can of Camden Hells - but we didn't buy any food so can't comment on that. I'll definitely go back again but will wait to see what nights are announced for the new year. I live a couple of hours away so need to plan things in advance but anyone who lives local should keep an eye out for cheap tickets in the run up to events.

  31. Massive Attack, Pulp/The National and PJ Harvey? Then I guess having Bad Bunny/Travis Scott, Karol G and SZA/Lana del Rey won't be that bad, it actually would be a nice mix for everyone.

  32. Yep I agree, plus add in that the current second stage area is poorly laid out & causes a massive bottleneck. If they want the top two stages to be clashless, they should fully commit to a dual main stage set up, with the old large second stage tent acting as the alternative third stage to give those that don’t want to watch the headliners something to do.
    1 point
  33. I really don't understand them not clashing with second stage and not doing dual mainstage. It would make much more sense for them to have two stages side by side (or at 90 degrees from each other) so people don't have to move to see both stages. That would free up space for a bigger tent to act as a genuine alternative to mainstage while also nullifying some sound leakage issues.

  34. Do you really think they are made for the Pyramid? As much as I adore Glastonbury, in the last 25 years it has become so middle class and part of the mainstream. A lot of the media coverage shows snaps of celebs in VIP areas with outrageously expensive glamping etc. without any mention of the political leanings. I can't imagine that's something RATM would want to be associated with, as opposed to say Reading which still seems to retain some of the anarchic spirit.

  38. Machine Head would make sense. Bruce isn’t one of the ones I’ve heard but if he’s touring solo, he’s surely going to be at Download. I could see him subbing the second stage or at least playing really high up it.

  39. I don’t doubt there have been false claims. I can say the source is 100% reliable (I am not reporting who since I don’t want to cause any trouble). I haven’t spoken directly to this person but I also consider the person who did reliable, and with no interest in giving false news. I don’t know why there wasn’t a yes/no answer to the question “will they be at primavera?” Maybe the thing hasn’t been 100% smoothed over yet but is in talks? It sounds like close to confirmation to me

  41. Well, the people who love Rosalía and hate Bad Bunny are not necessarily the same, although both opinions have been seen in this forum. Anyway, Rosalía is a Spanish singer from the same city where the festival takes place, who started doing Flamenco and started her own proyect approaching herself to new sounds. I'd say, despite commercial success and some hits with a more latin/reggaeton vibe (Despechá, Con Altura), that her work is more experimental than Bad Bunny's. All of her albums are conceptual works, with a highly and deeply curation of the sound, style, designs, videos, performances etc. Anyway some might not like it at all, or found that "silly" or "nonsense", but I wouldn't say Motomami is a commercial album, or standard pop for all audiences, like some people (who never listened to Rosalía beyond one or two hits) believe. Also she has artistic motivations that have taken her to collab with the likes of Björk, Arca, James Blake, Travis Scott, Oneohtrix Point Never, Billie Eilish.. (all of them have performed in Primavera Sound except Eilish), and she even have done covers of Bonnie Prince Billy and Frank Ocean in the past. I don't see the same case with Bad Bunny, not worse, but different. You can like one and dislike the other easily. Benito started doing latin trap and reggaeton like a decade ago and he's still doing pretty much the same. So you have to like the style to enjoy him, and he has a quite nasal voice that doesn't help with some audiences. It is true that in the last albums he has incorporated some interesting productions that can play with some different sounds (incluiding shoegaze), but the result is not that risky or heterogeneous as any Rosalía's LP. The lyrics are probably another differential point: While Rosalía tends to focus in conceptual and thematic works, full of her own universe, poetry, and metaphors (even if for some they sound "silly" or nonsense as I said before), Bad Bunny usually speaks with less depth about the regular topics in latin trap and reggaeton (women, sex, drinking, smoking, dancing/perrear and so on), and despite his efforts of whitewashing his often sexist conduct with songs like "Yo perreo sola", his discography is full of objectification and "machismo" (although I personally think that we can found that too in a lot of hiphop and even Rolling Stones lyrics). I don't say Bad Bunny is worse than Rosalía, is not that simple, and he has maybe more hits than the catalan singer (also more global success), but I can understand some people prefering Rosalia, and also some other people not interested in her and wishlisting Bad Bunny looking forward to dance with his multiple catchy hits 😉

  44. I'd love The Smile, didn't manage to get to any of their dates but I reckon they cost a fortune to book, do we know of any independent festivals that are a similar size to Green Man that have managed to get them to play? With the Walkmen booked this year, I'm hoping there might be potential for Interpol at some point, they headlined a smaller UK festival earlier this year and I could see them doing a great job.

  45. Change has to happen at festivals otherwise it gets stale and full of the same old people that expect the same old bands in the same old settings. Part of the joy of festivals is discovering new ones, finding new areas at familiar festivals, enjoying new music and interacting with different people. Festivals have to evolve to stay alive - and especially so in difficult times. I understand that people have attachments to certain things and sometimes those things are missed, but put into the bigger picture, it makes sense.

  46. Watching Cat Stevens a couple of young lads standing behind us took a video of us having a wee ‘romantic moment’ during morning has broken. They sent me the video! We chatted to them after the set and they were genuinely interested in our past experiences at the festival , what it was like, did we smoke weed, etc etc. advised them to cherish every moment of the festival. They were going to call their mum about meeting us! The last thing they said to us was that they would never forget us. We wished them a wonderful life, just one of those great glastonbury moments, and why it would be a difficult decision to give up going.
