  1. Oh Neil you've been the first person to state that it's 'not all about the headliners' in the past (and please don't ask me to find and quote an actual post...). Obvs it's not your cup of tea, and probably not totally mine also, but I'm pretty darn sure that field will be rammed as usual when Chris, the lads, and Madge come skipping out. We'll probably be elsewhere, grooving to something more our thing, but simply because our personal preferences lie elsewhere that doesn't mean it's not 'a vintage year'.

  2. BMTH aren’t riding a wave. They’ve built themselves up over almost two decades and become one of the biggest heavy bands in the country. They’ve reached that Slipknot and Linkin Park level now where they will always remain an arena and festival headliner until the end of their career.

  3. Personally I don't think anything will beat Pavement, The Strokes, Nick Cave, Autechre, Tame Impala, King Gizzard, Gorillaz, Shame, Idles, Black Midi, Beach House, Pond, Parquet Courts, Wet Leg, Dinosaur Jr, Beach Bunny, Black Lips, Fred Again, The National, Warpaint, Beck, Fontaines DC, Porrige Radio, Tropical f**k Storm, Caroline Polachek, Lightning Bolt, Tyler The Cteartor, Diiv, Jawbox, Bauhaus, King Krule,... of Weekend1 in 2022

  5. Apparently blink’s cancelled shows in Scotland/Ireland are being rescheduled for August 2024, so that’s one headliner that we were already pretty sure about which we can basically confirm. That’ll be a day ticket for me.

  6. I know many of us say it but they should just stop being greedy and stick to Barcelona and Porto

  8. This is what I say year after year on here. We go through the same cycle time after time: Claim R&L give terrible headliners > Come up with names that sound like they could headline but are not good enough > Get extremely depressed at the idea they could headline > Start to justify them headlining and building a strawman that they are good enough > See R&L lineup > Get depressed that despite being bigger than the justified names, they are actually poor. I saw it with BMTH for about 4 years, Blossoms, Courteeners, Yungblood, Royal Blood to name a few

  9. Look at that photo. Look at the depths of despair in all of their eyes. Beaten. Defeated. Like a Labrador on a daytime telly RSPCA advert. How do you think yer man from the Levellers would have reacted to being called Britpop in 1994? That shows all you all you need to know about their integrity. A medium sized back of cash and he'll willingly sh*t on his past. There's only one way of life, and that's your mortgage company's.

  10. I haven't got enough words for how angry this makes me. I thought Hacienda Classical was the nadir of popular culture, then I saw that Shiiine Weekender, which makes me want to join Al Queda and fight for the end of Western civilisation.. And now this. A new low.

  11. There is a bunch or Artists I expect to only be able to see at PS if ever. Grouper, The Microphones/Mount Eerie - Would be perfect for Auditori, both rarely tour and would only really work at festivals with appropriate indoor stages. The Radio Dept - I think they last tourd 2016 (and played the Hidden Stage). Afaik they don't like the "commercial" touring circuit so they don't do it much. Sufjan Stevens - Carrie & Lowell Tour was beautiful, though I don't think he'll really tour Javelin considering everything DJ Sabrina the Teenage DJ - Dunno if she ever plays live, but if so, PS is gonna be one of the first to grab her, I'm sure Parannoul - Their Live Album is magnificient. As they are so far off the standard industry-touring-cycle it would take special efforts to get them to play, but if a fest can pull that off, its PS Joanna Newsom - Really sorta the same as Sufjan. In terms of whats new this year, I'd love to see feeble little Horse, Model / Actriz, Maruja, Oneohtrix Point Never, yeule, Sprain, The Armed, Genesis Owusu, deathcrash, Anohni, Julie Byrne (!), Geese, Snow Strippers, Protomartyr, Shallou, Daughter, Midwife, and Strange Ranger Also Slowdive and Blonde Redhead for the 90s Shoegaze/Dream Pop. And damn I need Wilco to be at PS, its been ages. And bring The Clientele while you're there.

  12. This thread is definitely a reminder of why Sonisphere is missed so much. Be nice to have 2 big rock/metal festivals giving choice.

  14. @Judas Yeast Can you confirm: 1 first time headliner. A7X 1 [other] returning headliner. If so can you say how many times the returning headliner have played/headlined before and if the 1st time headliner have played the fest (but not headlined). Reckon I can make a decent guess based on that. Do you know how many bands they're looking at announcing?

  17. Have to take the moment to bring Ren back up, as it's a very big week for him! In case anyone isn't aware, his album Sick Boi is newly out and doing incredibly well. It's also totally brilliant. It's looking like it will chart at No.2 in the UK, right behind Rick Astley, but it's all to play for this week and every purchase until Thursday night makes a difference. It's an amazing achievement for an independent artist and the album is fantastic, so if anyone is on the fence please give it a listen. Only a fiver to download.

  23. Hope I'm ok to post this. I ran the Brighton Marathon this April and was disappointed with Covid ruining my preparation so I've decided to run another. I'll be running Manchester Marathon for Alzheimer's Society a week before my birthday next year, I would be over the moon if you could share my page and story about please.❤️ https://www.justgiving.com/page/gareth-leitch-1696877984251#updates

  26. I remember that afternoon. Ahead of Ray Davies I was having a wander round to get some food and heard Myles and Slash doing Sweet Child and Paradise City (my 2 favourite GnR songs) in my wandering so was very happy. As a Scot I wasn't going to watch the football but even if Scotland had been playing I'd have been at the Pyramid. Anyway back to word association BYE

  27. I've just checked Wikipedia and it looks like Liam Gallagher doesn't write his own songs. It's Glastonbury Rock Festival ffs, not the Eurovision Song Contest

  31. Even though Fall Out Boy are massive they still seem like they’d be a very odd headliner choice for any festival.

  32. You’re seriously suggesting she wouldn’t play Glastonbury because the number of dancers on her tour wouldn’t fit on the stage?

  34. I started using Noom a couple of weeks ago and I’ve lost half a stone using it. it’s basically made me aware of what I’m eating and whilst my main meals were okay, my snacking is what’s doing me in. really starting to see results now.

  36. I completely understand your sentiment. The old layout with the cafe and cafe stage on the right side did have a unique charm and that summer fair atmosphere. Changes in layout and vendor priorities can certainly alter the festival's feel. It's possible that the focus on selling more drinks at the Avalon Inn has shifted the dynamics a bit. Festivals often evolve over time, reflecting changing priorities and trends. While it's natural for things to change, it's always nice to reminisce about the aspects we loved from the past. reels saver

  39. Because 'Talking Heads' as a name is what's attributed to the Stop Making Sense marketing and will draw more attention. I would put money on it not being a live performance.
