Not sure why you have posted this.

Hamas committed atrocities we all know that. Does this information suddenly justify the actions of Netanyahu?

Also it’s hardly surprising that a group specifically set up to find evidence of sexual violence finds evidence of sexual violence. I’m not denying that horrific acts were done by Hamas just it’s relevance to the current situation

It was on BBC front page...and someone was talking about this the other day...and I was waiting for someone to be sceptical..and here you are.

I’d treat news from Hamas with equal scepticism. Like I said I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it did happen but I always bear in mind the impartiality of the source with news like this.

Tell them they've cancelled Glastonbury 2026 as a punishment 🙂

Joking aside, they know the BBC doesn't run Glastonbury, right?

No doubt there are some who fall into both these categories. I would suggest though (based on the experience of friends here and in Israel) that the vast majority of people serving in the IDF are regular - mainly young- people, men and women, who love their country and want to keep it safe.

I get that, and I feel for those who do it out of duty rather than choice, as I would imagine most on here would - an incredibly hard position to be in. I would however, take issue with any and all of them who have voted for or continue to vote for Netanyahu and his far right coalition partners who are deliberately and unnecessarily prolonging the conflict for their own political means, at that point, my sympathy for IDF conscripts lessens, as they effectively become turkeys voting for Christmas.

It would be interesting to see Lisa Nandy and the rest of Labours stance on this if the antisemitism issues the party has had in years gone by hadn’t existed. Would they still be approaching this in the same way?

Many do it out of obligation - Israel has basically compulsory conscription into the IDF for citizens of a certain age. That doesn't necessarily include direct military/weapons usage, but it is worth bearing in mind. Being a member of the IDF isn't a choice.

I actually have more disdain for Netanyahu than all the others. At least the nutters in his government are from extremist religious pro-settler parties...they have this ideology for a greater Israel..Judea and Sumaria or whatever, they want all the Palestinians gone, same as some in Hamas/Hezbollah want all the Jews gone......whereas Netanyahu is literally carrying out genocide simply for his own political survival.  The bloke is a class A c**t.

So, definitely death to Netanyahu.

Though weirdly when this phase is all over he will probably be more vulnerable personally to the pro-settler types who will accuse him of failing them. Cos he will.

Which is why i said "I get that, and I feel for those who do it out of duty rather than choice".

And ultimately, it is still a choice, there are refusniks, you run the risk of being arrested, but there is a choice.

That's fair. I didn't mean to call you out specifically, it's just a point I haven't seen made in this thread which I think is important to highlight.

But what if they voted for netanyahu because they liked his neo-liberal policies...they didn't know what was to come? Tough poopoo?

???

You say that as if neoliberalism isn't also dangerous and its followers some of the worst people around...

    • Have a great festival to those that are going, I cant wait to get there tomorrow!
    • ah i get ya.. Yeah I hate festivals that have that barrier and front section. Roskilde is gonna be the same, which I'm not looking forward to navigating. Like you say, you end up missing other stuff having to get there dead early. Luckily there's not much we're arsed about on at Roskilde though so that wont be such an issue! hahaha
    • Not directly my expectation but my wishlist   - car seat headrest (it has been way too long these guys did Europe) - death cab for cutie - new constellations - interpol - bush - swimschool - suede - the haunted youth (should have been there this year) - flipturn   and oh yes Yumi Zouma can come any week, day, hour but this is a personal fetish with this band

    • Broco have European dates in Czechia and Slovenia the day before and after so I would be shocked if it were them, despite them having no other UK festival presence this summer.   Bilmuri are a shout as I don't think it'll be someone massive.
