I’d love to know if it’s actually antisemitism or actually anti Zionism/Israeli. Not necessarily the same thing.

Maybe we'll never know.

Maybe there are some cases of anti-zionism/israel that are also antisemitism...like assaulting/attacking a jewish person/property for example.

cool.

But we don't know what these incidents were.

If they were people running round shouting death to the IDF...then yeah...respect.

If they were people attacking Jewish people/property simply because they were Jewish....I think that might actually be dodge. Just my opinion though.

Also...this whole I don't agree with the official definition of whatever prejudice because it doesn't fit my worldview is kind of dodge...you see a hec of a lot of it on the right...

The idea that the increase in anti Israeli thinking in the world is down to Bob Vylans Glastonbury set that not alot of people will have watched and not down to Israel committing genocide seem bonkers to me.

Blame the outspoken black man or a country with money..? Seems Bobby is an easy target here.

As long as we conflate anger or disagreement with the actions of the state of Israel with hatred of people of the Jewish faith we're never going to move forwards.

I am opposed to many of the actions of the Saudi state, both at home and internationally.  This doesn't make me an Islamophobe.

Maybe some incidents are just jew-hate...you know verbal or physical abuse/assaults etc.

Not sure people are being reported for antisemitism by going round chanting Death to the IDF or Free Palestine.

(but they might get locked up on terrorism charges).

Yes people should not call anti-Israel or pro-Palestine antisemitism, but at same time just dismissing any claims of antisemitism because of the crimes of Israel is also wrong.

It was exactly as it was stated.  The articles are written from a press release sent out by the lobbyists with a requirement for the timing of the release by multiple news organisations being designed to amplify the message.

But all criticism of Israel, and especially criticism of the way Israel conducts its war against Hamas in Gaza, is not anti-Semitism and treating it as such harms the urgent, crucial fight against the growing threat posed by this ancient scourge

So that article has this gem:

Quote

The CST said the incidents reported to the charity on 29 June involved anti-Jewish responses to events at Glastonbury, as well as to the CST’s subsequent statement on X, which described the chants as “utterly chilling”.

So, some of them were because of Bob Vylan. And some of them were because of the CST's Twitter feed. Of course the CST would argue that they were just reporting and commenting on what happened at the festival but there's no acknowledgement that doing that:

1) actually increased antisemitism reports. Had this not been reported all over the news, that would not have happened and.

2) Vylan was also just reacting to events in Gaza. Just like CST were reacting to events at Glastonbury.

It's certainly a flex to actively stoke the fire and then be claiming how bad it is that people are getting burned.

I'm not surprised with some of the comments on here and the way the whole debate got handled. Even when it was proven right that BV did mean to kill individual soldiers, people just doubled down.

There's a genocide happening.  Bob Vylan are against the genocide that is happening.  Right now in Gaza there is a genocide.  Being committed by the IDF.  They are doing a genocide.

A bit of a side note but it's interesting to me the way this situation has shown how much people who don't go to Glastonbury have no idea about the place and assume it's like a normal festival. I've had so many people asking me about it, assuming that because the media made such a big deal that it'll be front and centre when you're there.

If it wasn't for the media I wouldn't have had a clue any of this happened, I was getting my spot for Pulp.

Same as when politicians speak in the Leftfield, people assume the festival is so small that everyone witnesses it
