The amount of funding and supporting a genocide should be 0%. 

 

Even having to add that little codicil should give you pause.

While we as a moderation team are keen to err on the side of shorter suspensions/restrictions, and escalate the degree of bans when users repeatedly break rules, there were several immediately hostile and toxic behaviours by this user, straight after having a short ban.

 

Things that are completely unacceptable and will instantly result in a 1 month ban at minimum:

• Racist, homophobic, transphobic slurs
• Calling groups of people 'animals' 'rodents' or other dehumanising language
• Linking to a far-right disinformation account

We urge everyone, as always, to please use the report system to highlight posts that concern you. While we try and have a slightly closer eye on threads that cover contentious topics, we will miss things, and unless a thread is actively under moderated content, a post being up does not indicate moderator approval/acceptance (and even if it does we might have erred, we're human).

 

Generally, we don't want to discuss suspensions/bans publicly to respect people's privacy and to avoid a sense that a user could be targeted with the reporting system. In this instance, this user was clearly on the forums with malicious intent. We might message someone that has been targeted by a user to assure them that the moderation team will act on bullying behaviour/harassment, but many users that have had a restriction have returned to post positive contributions, and we don't want to put suspended users off returning and behaving later. Obviously, in this case, that user will not be welcome back again, hence we are making an exception, and highlighting why they were banned.

Yes, but getting to that 0 from 0.1 might be more complicated than we realise...and ultimately will not make a jot of difference to any genocide.

The only country that makes any difference in all this is US.

This is a truly grim conversation about an appalling massacre but facts matter and it is also not a proven fact that 100s of people were raped and tortured at Nova.

 

We know such despicable crimes occurred but we don't know the extent of rape and torture and never will as it was too difficult to gather evidence. It may be in the 10s. It may be more than 100. 100s seems unlikely given that most of the 380 people were gunned down and the dominance of men present (to be clear I know some men were raped too) but cannot be ruled out.
