they might pull it to make decision easier for others maybe ?

Maybe, they’ll need to put serious time into their defence... under Section 12 of the Terrorism Act 2000, praising a proscribed terrorist group when you have influence or a wide reach can result in custodial sentences typically ranging from 3 to 6 years.

Of course they’ll be cancelled. Especially with the court appearance so close to Glastonbury. I’m excited at the prospect of a new act at west holts!

they waited to make the charge so it would maybe pull their time to be on tele. Why wait til now when a hearing would be a month out. They couldve been more blatant and had it friday before glasto

Actual solidarity with Mo Chara

Folk snarking about this or wondering who might be subbed in to replace a band protesting genocide are on the wrong side of history.

Agreed. They need to play. It’s absolutely wild this is even happening. Madness.

Up the Kneecap ✊🏼

Will be disappointed with Glastonbury if they pull them.

I don't think Glastonbury will pull, I think Kneecap will bow out of festivals over summer. I don't think it's right but in order to have goodwill going foward not putting festivals in that kind of situation wcould be benificial for years to come.

None of this should be happening mind. or even being considered.

Also given the stiff sentences handed down to those folk who posted despicable comments on line last summer there will be pressure on the court, if found guilty, to do likewise. I’m not making any judgements here or making comparisons but there will be media attention.

14000 babies might die, but how will impact Glastonbury?

I hope for a new running order. Maybe we'll get Gabriels.

Listen to yourselves.

To be fair this is a thread about them playing Glastonbury in a forum about Glastonbury. I dont think people discussing whether they will play somehow means they condone genocide.

I don’t think they’ll pull Glasto. More pressing is their Dublin gig before - 1 members - court appearance.

If Glasto make the call, it’ll be interesting to see what the other artists who’ve stood up in support end up doing.

Interesting. Free speech is dead. (A reminder that free speech is generally considered to be permission to say something it harmful to others without fear of prosecution). When will keir starmer and david lammy get charged for terrorism offenses? As admitted by lammy yesterday in parliament, it’s government policy to sell F-35 jet parts to Israel, which are used to murder tens of thousands of children. Murder isn’t terrorism, but jokingly supporting a terror group, in a jokey way, as a joke, is?

don’t think this should change anything for Glastonbury. The charge doesn’t change what mo chara did, so why would they be removed? They’d damage their reputation far more amongst attendees, in many cases irrecoverably, than if they kept them on the bill

I very much doubt that Glastonbury will cancel them.

It's a Magistrate Court appearance. Bound to be adjourned. Mo Chara will currently be on bail. His bail will be extended at the end of his court appearance. What concerns me is that considering what he's been charged with, the court may decide to impose specific bail conditions to prevent him repeating the offence. If the bail conditions are considered unreasonable by the defence they can make an application to the court to get the conditions changed. I don't know how long that process would take and of course the court may just say no.

I really hope that they play.

Glastonbury Festival has a shameful track record of folding early, rather than facing down dodgy claims of antisemitism.  In 2023, they cancelled the screening of the documentary exposing the underhand machinations which led to the ridiculous accusations against Corbyn.  In 2024, they cancelled the cabaret/comedy regular Paul Currie, for defamatory antisemitism claims made about him by the Soho Theatre and repeated by the usual suspects: Daily Mail, Jewish Chronicle et al.  (Mods to note: 'defamatory' is not my opinion here - it's a preliminary High Court ruling from his ongoing legal action against the Soho Theatre.  The preliminary findings are publically available and show Glastonbury's action against him to be cowardly and unjust.)

It doesn't matter what Kneecap have said.  If the populist winds appear to be blowing against Kneecap, Glastonbury will cancel them.  If they're not, they won't.

This. People seem to be forgetting the festivals track record.

Im hoping with the amount of artists that signed that letter they’ll realise they’ll burn their bridges with half their potential future lineups if they cancel them

Just seen this on the news. It's really troubling and scary he has been actually charged with this and sets quite the precedent - one that surely cannot end well.

Really hope it's thrown out. Whether or not they get to play Glasto this year almost feels irrelevant in the grand scheme but I really hope they do manage to, I don't see them being removed by the festival - at least I really hope not.

    • Not necessarily but it should be, Download have a habit of messing it uo when others get the bookings on point. Good Charlotte I doubt are playing 3rd down and that too 3 that day while dreamy is too strong. I think you'd have one another day to help sell weekend tickets. I also doubt Papa Roach play.
    • Here's a bit of a wild stab, few placings may be off, and for all I know half of these won't actually be touring next year, but screw it, it's a bit of fun   Pyramid: Sabrina Carpenter, Phoebe Bridgers, TBA (Florence + The Machine), Garbage, The Last Dinner Party, Interpol, Alex James Britpop Classical Other: Chase & Status, Teddy Swims, Clairo, The Kooks, Zara Larsson, Kingfishr, Sports Team, Orbital West Holts: Robyn, Baby Keem, De La Soul, Deltron 3030, JID, Dua Saleh, kwn, Daniela Latila Woodsies: Bonobo, Darkside, TBA (Tame Impala), Laufey, Warmduscher, Wednesday, The Lottery Winners, The Royston Club, Florence Road Park: Patti Smith, Super Furry Animals, Slayyyter, The Cardigans, Skye Newman, Kelly Lee Owens, Teen Jesus & The Jean Teasers   Pyramid: Harry Styles, The xx, Richard Ashcroft, The Pogues, Jessie J, Sigrid, Travis Other: Rosalia, Sombr, Mitski, Alex Warren, Holly Humberstone, Cat Burns, Pale Waves, Yard Act West Holts: Basement Jaxx, Elyanna, Clipse, L’Imperatrice, Nation of Language, Jim Legxacy, Yazmin Lacey, RIP Magic Woodsies: Suede, Chvrches, Bleachers, MUNA, The Cribs, Keo, Bleech 9:3, The Lilacs Park: MARINA, Magdalena Bay, Jacob Alon, TBA (Lily Allen performs West End Girl), Getdown Services, Isaac Wood, Snail Mail, Madra Salach Pyramid: Sam Fender, Hozier, David Byrne, Cher, Obongjayar, David Gray, Billy Ocean Other: Doja Cat, Deftones, Addison Rae, Ren, Viagra Boys, Maisie Peters, The Reytons, Hard Life West Holts: Kano, Thievery Corporation, Angine De Poitrine, Thee Sacred Souls, Brooke Combe, Sasha Keable, Master Peace Woodsies: The Wombats, Metronomy, Geese*, Dry Cleaning, EsDeeKid, Sienna Spiro, Cowboy Hunters, Radio Free Alice Park: Big Thief, Laura Marling, MJ Lenderman, Richard Dawson, Oklou, Maruja, Dead Dads Club, Ratboys   *There's always one band booked for Woodsies that ends up being massively under-billed and gets shut down really early. They'd be better off playing somewhere like Other sub, but I could see the G getting them to play a smaller stage while it's still possible
    • Another Kraftwerk one for me today, as just back from seeing them.
    • Completed my 2026 survey. Put down Super Furry Animals as my most wanted for next year but suspect the moment has gone for that. Popped a big shopping list in the box for who else you would like to see. 🙂
