I love Avalon, great size and atmosphere - really helps being close to the stage.  I always come away from Glasto with an Avalon set being part of my highlights.  Things like Frank Turner, Bananarama, Reef, Elvana, Neville Staple, and Lulu spring immediately to mind.  Even though some Avalon acts could do an outdoor TV stage, I prefer to see them in the Avalon tent for atmosphere etc. 

 

If rumours about Shed Seven are true, I hope they'll be headlining Avalon rather than afternoon Other Stage - even though a TV slot is better for the band.

 

How about this... maybe some bands could consider doing both an afternoon Other slot (for TV) AND headline Avalon?!  Or is that just mad?!  Might be an option, given some artists play multiple (but admittedly lower-key) sets.

It's certainly been done a few times before, although with an afternoon Pyramid slot, 2007 The Waterboys headlined Avalon Friday, Acoustic Saturday, then played an early afternoon slot on the Pyramid on the Sunday. I don't recall the circumstances behind it, whether one of the headliners was as a fill-in for someone who pulled out, or whether it was something they asked for? 

2008 Seasick Steve headlined the Acoustic and then played afternoon Pyramid. 

There'll be a fair few others I'm sure.

Felt pretty alive and kicking on the Friday this year!!  Saw Ash, Terrorvision and Fratellis there.  I think Fratellis was so crowded they closed the field, right? I went for a toilet break after Terrorvision and assumed all the young people streaming towards me in the opposite direction were headed for SE Corner... but got back to a packed Avalon! Amazing!

I caught the end of Terrorvision and watched all of the Fratellis.  They did shut the field I believe that night yes.  I thought the Fratellis were very good and helped by an 'up for it' crowd.  Made the mistake of watching Hard-Fi there too but had to walk away after about 30 minutes, they were not so good in my opinion.  Can't say I was ever a massive fan so was only ever there for the big tunes which typically came on after I left.

 

I thought the area in general had a good vibe about it again though and we sat in the Avalon Inn on more than one occasion.

Avalon definitely felt like less of an afterthought this year.  Think the new tent helps, maybe the layout changed a wee bit as well?  Was more of a place to hang out and less of a through road this time around, saw some good stuff there 🙂

Was anyone else around Avalon on Sunday lunchtime for Talisk? Was really brilliant - proper pick-me-up stuff.

The new tent definitely helped to make the rest of the field feel more inclusive

Ash were great, lots of bangers I hadn't heard in years. Intended coming back for Fratellis and Hard-Fi but plans changed.  Thought the Avalon area was great though and good line up.

The people who looked after Avalon in the past now have Woodsies apparently.    They mentioned that the growth of the SE corner affected Avalon but not in a good way.  Hopefully the new people over there can work through that.

I walked past for Fratellis trying to get to somewhere else and the whole field was packed to the rafters. Loved Ash

Avalon was lovely, watched the big moon there and was my first time watching someone there on my 3rd visit to Glasto. Loved the tent set up and that you could chill and just sit against the wall and still hear it, great important and could easily see myself sending more time there. Looks much better than the usual blue tent.

Was my first time in Avalon and I loved it. The Inn is great and the vibe of the field also felt like a great place to be. 

 

Terrorvision were a lot of fun, The Fratellis were great and the atmosphere for them was fabulous too.

My favourite set this year! I had worked the night shift but set my alarm to go and see Talisk. Absolutely worth it.

I really really wanted to enjoy Terrorvision but it just didn't click for me.  Nothing to do with the band, they were on top form.  Whereas Ash had me bouncing all the way through, I think Terrorvision are just a band I've drifted away from a bit.  Possibly I was just knackered.

Sunday late was great in the Avalon, Alabama 3 was a superb way to end the festival and the whole vibe of the area was great with a fun karaoke afterwards in the Inn. The festival needs areas like this to keep the variety of the festival.

I was other end of the spectrum, literally never heard of them before but was sat on Avalon bar benches getting gradually captivated until I had to join in 😄

 

My mate said he listened to them the entire drive home on Monday. Terrific stuff.

Most improved area of 2025 along with Shangri La; the rerouting for 2024 paid dividends this year, new stage is great. It still feels a bit smaller than it maybe once did, but it’s a super cool area now and a great chill spot. Thought it was a great place to get some shade before nipping down the railway line to get to Other Stage and Park

I know them and this is accurate.

 

It was better this year - the new stage orientation and open design towards the bar together compliment one another. Will miss the 'original' big top stage but cannot deny the new one works better as it adds the capacity of the rest of the field and is cooler as not covered.
