That's the first ever positive comment I've heard about the Paul Rodgers version of Queen.  Even Brian and Roger seem sheepish about it.

They fell out though, that's why. Freddie's mum said it felt like he was in the room when she saw them play Hyde Park.

Adam Lambert is just too Canal Street Karaoke. Actively puts me off songs I hear him sing, though he does have a powerful voice and persona. Sounds perfect for Queen? Yep, but good on paper doesn't equal good in real life. Huge Queen fan, dunno if I'd see a Lambert fronted version at Glastonbury.

Obviously 1975 / OR / Neil Young is the odds on fave - Seeing alot of Justin Timberlake headline slots around European Festivals in June would that be a feasible option for Emily?

Sorry if it has been mentioned 417 pages is a heavy thread!

Can't help but feel JT has far passed his peak. I don't see it personally.  If he played it would be a Katy Perry kind of slot I would imagine.

Think the Silk Sonic stuff has definitely raised his profile!

He’s one of the best live acts out there IMO, should be headliner material even if he’s not “there yet”.

Was lucky enough to catch him on WH in 2017 when a fortunate work placing meant i got to catch all day at West holts with very little work to do.  Was a great show.

I saw the original Queen 3 times (82 and twice in 86) but haven't bothered with the newer versions, and to be honest I sort of regret it. The reviews of the recent tours made it still sound like a good time.

They'd absolutely kill it on the Pyramid, one for the ages, but it's not going to happen.

You 100% would. Deep down you know it too. Can you imagine, a few days later, watching Queen & AL kicking Glasto’s ass into oblivion on iPlayer and you’re starting to wonder if the decision to watch Hot Chip was the right one?

Yeah, there would be a degree of FOMO but I don't enjoy his performances and it would be my last memory of live Queen. I don't have much but I'd rather stick on what I have...

He's headlining Isle Of Wight the week before so zero chance.

I've seen both before and think I'd settle for Hot Chip, over and over.

I've seen Q&AL three times and they've smashed it every time. An an absolute hoot.

Different strokes...

"The debate over who is better at filling the role of Queen's frontman between Paul Rodgers and Adam Lambert often comes down to personal preference and the specific context of their performances.

Paul Rodgers (2004-2009):

- Known for his powerful, bluesy rock vocals, Rodgers brought a different style to Queen's music, emphasizing classic rock elements.

- He was the lead singer of Free and Bad Company, and his experience in rock contributed to a more traditional rock sound during his tenure with Queen.

- Fans appreciated his ability to perform classic Queen hits while adding his own flair.

Adam Lambert (2009-present):

- Lambert is known for his wide vocal range and theatrical performance style.

- His charisma and ability to engage with the audience have been significant draws for fans.

- Lambert has also brought a fresh energy to the band, often incorporating new arrangements and interpretations of Queen's songs, making them feel contemporary.

In summary, if you prefer a classic rock sound and a more straightforward approach, you might favor Paul Rodgers. If you appreciate theatricality and vocal versatility, Adam Lambert might be your choice. Ultimately, both have brought unique qualities to the role and have contributed to keeping Queen's music alive for new generations."

I’m lucky enough to have seen Queen with Freddie live and they were awesome gigs, absolutely incredible.  I’ve also seen Queen with Adam Lambert and thought his interpretation and performance of the classic songs are excellent.
Maybe it’s the songs, many absolutely unique and with such a wide appeal.

As a singer, I prefer PR to AL, he’s obviously one of the great blues/rock singers but therein, to me, lies the problem. Apart from a few songs (It’s Late etc), Queen weren’t particularly bluesy. I saw Queen with PR a few times and to me it just didn’t feel like Queen at all, apart from when Rog or Brian sang their stuff. I kind of begrudgingly saw them with AL at the Hammy Apollo on their first run of dates and I thought they were superb. Adam wasn’t the most dynamic or charismatic frontmen then, but he was right for the band and it felt much more like Queen again

To be honest, Freddie IS Queen. Once I'd done Queen with PR, I've completed Queen to the best of my ability. I wanted to like AL because I love Queen, but his voice puts me off. All annoying and over egged.

Give me Marc Martel. Accept no substitute.

Sam Ryder did an excellent job.

Yip. I want a camp dude in a sequined cape and crown riding a pink bike around the stage while he sings Bicycle Race, not a growling, sweaty pub-rocker.

    • Likelihood is it'll be on Sunrise and Alcove but theres potential for some more in the tent as there have been 8 acts on some days in recent years. Obelisk is likely full now unless they have a few shorter sets thrown in   Im surprised they haven't had some secret sets thrown into the mix this time round unless they do and we find some gaps in the schedule is released
    • I see that Your Party has officially split, another Corbyn leadership disaster.
    • Saturday notes:   MARINA - absolute highlight, a proper diva, I'm so glad I skipped the headliners for her. Also, the crowd was beautiful, no yapping, no pushing, just enjoying the music together. Primavera crowd at its best.   Ninajirachi - One would say that at the end of the last day of the festival, they must have told each other everything, right? Not really. There was still SO MUCH MORE to say. Primavera crowd at its worst. It was completely packed and someone was constantly pushing themselves through the crowd. It was quite difficult to enjoy the set, even though I love her music.   Olivia Rodrigo - The teasing, the speculations, finally the confirmation and the first reactions of people! When I was showing the "tweet" to my partner, there was a young girl standing behind us who asked me very politely if she could see it and if it is really happening here tonight and after she finally processed it, she had the cutest "Holy. sh*t." reaction. Few minutes later, when refilling the water, I almost lost it when another girl beside me started screaming "Oh my god! Oh my god! No way! Oh my god!", staring into her phone. And then also Robert Smith came. I must admit I'm not familiar with Olivia's songs (but I'm planning to change it) and can't really say I loved the set itself, but I absolutely loved the whole Olivia Rodrigo experience.
